International swingman Ieva Krastina (174-G/F-90, agency: LBM Management) put on an amazing game in the last round for TTT Riga, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 12. The 22-year old player was the main contributor (22 points, six rebounds and five assists) to her team's victory, helping them to outclass Audentes SG/N. (#7, 4-6) with 56-point margin 102-46. TTT Riga maintains the 3rd position in Latvian LSBL. They are still close to the very top. TTT Riga would have been even better if they kept winning the games like in the last round. They have a solid 8-1 record. It's Krastina's second year at TTT Riga and it's hard to imagine this team without her. Ieva Krastina has solid league stats. She is in league's top in points (3rd best: 18.0ppg), assists (2nd best: 6.2apg) and averages impressive 3.3spg.
The second best player in last round's games was 23-year old American Joncelyn Peterkin (187-C-89) of Liepajas. Peterkin had a very good evening with a double-double of 21 points and 10 rebounds. Of course she lead Liepajas to another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked Rapla KK (#11, 1-8) 92-61. Liepajas' 5th position in the standings has not changed. Her team lost some distance to top teams. But 5-3 record is not bad and everything may still change. Peterkin is a newcomer at Liepajas, but is already one of team's top players.
Third on the list of top players last round was Estonian forward Kerttu Jallai (180-F-90) of Tallina U. (#8). Jallai scored 22 points and grabbed nine rebounds. She was a key player of Tallina U., leading her team to a 100-65 easy win against slightly lower-ranked LU (#10, 2-7). The chances of Tallina U. not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 5 games, recording just three victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Jallai could try to bring Tallina U.'s a little bit higher in the standings. Jallai has a very solid season. In 2 games in Latvia she scored 20.0ppg.
Other top performing players last week: 4. Pirgit Puu (168-G-88) of Tallina U. - 24 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists 5. Annika Koster (185-F/C-92) of Eclex Tallinn - 23 points and 8 rebounds 6. Dita Rozenberga (181-F-92) of TTT Riga - 17 points, 10 rebounds and 2 assists 7. Valeria Kast (201-C-87) of Tallina U. - 21 points and 8 rebounds 8. Ruta Veidere (188-C-94) of TTT Riga - 17 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists 9. Nele Laurimaa (178-F-93) of Tallina U. - 17 points and 3 rebounds 10. Agija Kruga (176-F-94) of Liepajas - 16 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists
The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
