Here is the weekly review of the top performing Latvian players, who play currently abroad.

   #1. This week's number one is an international center Zane Teilane-Tamane (200-83, agency: LBM Management, college: W.Illinois, currently plays in Russia), who plays in the Russian PBL. She could not help one of league's weakest teams Nadezhda Orenburg (5-2) in their last game. Despite Teilane-Tamane's good performance Nadezhda Orenburg was badly defeated 88-68 on the road by the higher-ranked (#3) Dynamo Moscow. She recorded 12 points, 6 rebounds and 2 blocks in 26 minutes on the court. It was Nadezhda Orenburg's first loss after three consecutive victories. This year Teilane-Tamane averages: 9.7ppg, 7.4rpg, 1.7apg, 1.1bpg, 2FGP: 59.6%(28-47) and FT: 85.7% in the seven games she played so far. She is currently a member of the Latvian senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to an international center Ieva Kublina (193-82, college: Virginia Tech, currently plays in Hungary). Kublina led UNI Gyor to a victory over the sixth-ranked Bacsbasket (7-6) 81-65 in the Hungarian A Division last Thursday. She was MVP of the game. Kublina recorded 19 points and added 5 assists (made all of her eight free throws). HAT-AGRO UNI Gyor (10-3) is placed second in the A Division. It was her team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. Kublina has relatively good stats this season: 11.3ppg, 6.3rpg, 1.9apg, 2FGP: 48.8%, 3FGP: 35.3% and FT: 87.8%. She is in the roster of the Latvian senior national team.

   #3. The Latvian player who performed third best last week abroad was an international guard Elina Babkina (173-89, also represented by LBM Management, currently plays in Romania). Babkina was the main contributor in a CSM Targoviste's victory against the closely-ranked Sf.Gheorghe (9-4) 80-73 in the Romanian Division A on Saturday night. She was the best player in that game. Babkina scored 17 points and added 8 passes in 35 minutes. CSM Targoviste (12-1) is placed second in the Division A. It was her team's sixth consecutive victory in a row. It's Babkina's first season with the team. Babkina is currently fourth on the list of best passers with 4.0apg. This year her other stats are: 9.6ppg, 1.5rpg, 2FGP: 55.6%(25-45), 3FGP: 41.2% and FT: 82.4% in the 11 games. Babkina played for the Latvian national team one years ago.

   #4. Forward Gunta Basko (181-80, agency: Josep and Nicolas, college: Siena, currently plays in Eurocup), who plays in France was not able to help Nantes Reze (5-1) in their last game on Wednesday. Despite her good performance the second-placed Nantes Reze was defeated 67-62 in Grodno by the second-ranked Olimpia GrGAU in the group D of Eurocup. Basko was the top scorer with 10 points. She also added 7 rebounds and dished 4 assists. This season Basko has relatively solid stats: 10.1ppg, 5.5rpg, 2.9apg and 1.5spg. She used to play for the Latvian national team last year.

   #5. International power forward Aija Putnina (191-88, another player represented by Josep and Nicolas, currently plays in Spain) was not able to secure a victory for Navarra Pamplona (3-5) in their game against Cadi ICG Software (3-5) in the Spanish LFB, despite her very good performance last Saturday. Putnina was the top scorer with 24 points. She also added 7 rebounds in 37 minutes. But Navarra Pamplona lost 66-71 in Seu D'urgell to the lower-ranked (#8) Cadi ICG Software. It was Navarra Pamplona's fifth consecutive loss in a row. Putnina is currently fourth on the league's list of top scorers and also on the list of best rebounders (third place). She has individually a very good year with high stats. Putnina averages: 17.1ppg, 8.1rpg and 1.3spg in the seven games. She plays currently for the Latvian national team.

   #6. Forward Sabine Dukate (174-93, currently plays in Lithuania) contributed to an easy victory against one of league's weakest teams Utena (2-9) crushing them 84-56 in the Lithuanian LMKL on Saturday night. Dukate was the top player that evening. She recorded 21 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Suduva Marijampole (7-4) is placed third in the LMKL. Dukate's overall stats this season are: 6.9ppg and 2.5rpg. She is U20 international player who is currently on the Latvian National Team roster.

   #7. Former international center Anita Teilane (196-85, currently plays in Hungary) contributed to an easy victory against the eighth-ranked Cegledi EKK (3-10) crushing them 69-42 in the Hungarian A Division in Thursday night's game. Teilane recorded 7 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks in 18 minutes. UNIQA Euroleasing Sopron (14-0) is placed first in the A Division. So far her team won all fourteen games in the Regular Season. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Teilane is ranked fifth on the list of the best blockers in the league with 1.1bpg. She also averaged so far 4.5ppg, 4.6rpg and 1.1spg in the 14 games. Teilane used to play for the Latvian national team five years ago.

   #8. Forward Dita Liepkalne (185-87, college: Hawaii, currently plays in Spain) was the major contributor in Cortegada's victory against the seventh-ranked Universidad de Valladolid (3-4) 75-58 in the Spanish LF2 (12th division) last Saturday. She scored 16 points and grabbed 6 rebounds; quite an impressive performance considering it's only Liepkalne's third season in pro basketball. Thetrend Social Cortegada (7-0) is placed first in Group A. So far her team won all seven games in the Regular Season. Liepkalne's overall stats this season are: 9.7ppg and 4.4rpg. She used to play for the Latvian university national team back in 2007.

   #9. International power forward Liene Jansone (192-81, college: Siena, currently plays in Euroleague) couldn't help Tarsus Bld (1-6) in their game against Spartak Vidnoye (6-1) in the Euroleague. Jansone scored 8 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 22 minutes. Tarsus Bld (#7) lost 79-83 at home to the leading Spartak Vidnoye in the group A of Euroleague. This year Jansone's overall stats are: 6.1ppg and 3.1rpg in the seven games. She is also in the roster of the Latvian national team.

   #10. Guard Kristine Karklina (175-83, agency: Regeneracom Sports, currently plays in Turkey) contributed to a Ceyhan Bld's victory against one of league's weakest teams TED Ankara (1-7) 85-74 in the Turkish TKBL in Saturday night's game. Karklina scored 10 points. Ceyhan Belediyespor (5-3) is placed fourth in the TKBL. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. Karklina's total stats this year are: 9.9ppg, 1.4rpg, 2.5apg and 1.8spg. She is an international player who is currently on the senior Latvian National Team roster.

   #11. Former U20 international center Zenta Melnika (197-91, agency: FCM, currently plays in Romania) helped Alba Iulia win their game against the 12th-ranked Cluj Napoca crushing them 87-35 in the Romanian Division A last Saturday. Melnika scored 11 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in 24 minutes. This year Melnika's total stats are: 5.6ppg and 3.3rpg in the 12 games. She used to play for the Latvian U20 national team two years ago.

   #12. Former University international power forward Lauma Reke (185-86, college: St.Peter's, currently plays in Italy) helped T. La Spezia win their game against the tenth-ranked Calabria 54-42 in the Italian A2 (12th division) on Sunday night. Reke scored 9 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. This season Reke has very high stats. She averages: 16.1ppg, 7.7rpg and 2.0spg. Reke used to play for the Latvian university national team back in 2007.

   #13. Former U18 international swingman Eva Pavlovska (176-89, currently plays in Sweden) couldn't help Udominate in their game against Telge in the Swedish Damligan. Despite her good performance last Friday She scored 10 points, had 8 boards, dished 3 assists and stole 5 balls. Pavlovska is currently fifth on the league's list of best passers. She has very reliable stats this season: 11.7ppg, 5.8rpg, 3.2apg and 2.3spg. Pavlovska used to play for the Latvian U18 national team six years ago.

   #14. International guard Baiba Eglite (179-89, college: UTEP, currently plays in Czech Republic) couldn't help Lokomotiva Karlovy Vary in their game against IMOS Brno in the Czech Republic ZBL. She scored 6 points in 25 minutes. Her team was crushed by 21 points 80-59. Eglite has averaged so far 5.6ppg and 3.3rpg in the 14 games. She plays currently for the Latvian national team.

   #15. Former international power forward Dace Brumermane (187-81, another player represented by Josep and Nicolas, currently plays in France) couldn't help Dunkerque in their game against Angers in the French LF2 (12th division). Brumermane scored 8 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Her team was crushed by 44 points 89-45. Brumermane belongs to league's top scorers and is ranked #4. This season she has very good stats: 15.0ppg and 7.0rpg. Brumermane used to play for the Latvian national team eleven years ago.


One more player who has never been selected to any of national teams, but has Latvian passport:

   #1. Experienced Rima Valentiene (170-PG-78, currently plays in Lithuania) managed to help Kibirkstis-Tiche-IKI Vilnius in a victory against the fifth-ranked Ruta Siauliai (4-6) crushing them 116-74 in the Lithuanian LMKL in Friday night's game. She recorded only 3 points and had 3 steals in 20 minutes. Kibirkstis-Tiche-IKI Vilnius (10-0) is placed first in the LMKL. So far her team won all ten games in the Regular Season. Valentiene has averaged so far 4.3ppg, 2.8rpg, 2.3apg and 1.2spg in the 10 games she played so far.

Tallina U. - Vega 1/Liepaja 65-64 Tallina Uni held off Vega 1/Liepaja to take 1-0 lead in the quarterfinal series. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 21-10. But Vega 1 won third quarter 22-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great shooting night for Tallina U. especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. She had the game-high 20 points adding seven rebounds and nine assists for TTT Riga in her team's victory, helping them to outclass Vega 1/Liepaja (#3, 5-7) with 57-point margin 119-62.
