The most surprising game was another loss of top-ranked Valmiera (11-5) at the home court on Friday night. Hosts were edged by sixth ranked VEF Riga (7-1) in overtime 107-105. The guests trailed by 6 points after three quarters before their 31-25 charge, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time and get a 2-point victory in overtime. 27 personal fouls committed by Valmiera helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for American-Bulgarian guard Earl Rowland (188-83, college: St.Mary's, CA) who led his team to a victory with 32 points and 9 assists.
