Tyler Cain
American Tyler Cain (203-F-88) had a very impressive game in the last round for Barons kvartals and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 20.
The 24-year old forward had a double-double of 15 points and fourteen rebounds, while his team beat Liepaja (#9, 5-12) 77-68. Barons kvartals maintains the 5th position in Latvian LBL. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Barons kvartals will need more victories to improve their 9-7 record. Cain turned to be Barons kvartals' top player in his first season with the team. Tyler Cain averages this season 14.2ppg and 10.5rpg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young shooting guard Arturs Bricis (196-SG-92) of Liepaja. Bricis impressed basketball fans with 22 points and 6 rebounds. Bad luck as Liepaja was edged by slightly higher-ranked LU (#7, 8-9) 83-80. Liepaja is still second from the bottom in the standings. 12 lost games are too many comparing to just five victories Liepaja managed to get this year. Bricis is well-known by Liepaja fans and he already established his position as one of team's most reliable players.

The third best performed player last round was former international forward Ronalds Zakis (207-F/C-87) of Ventspils (#3). Zakis scored 19 points and grabbed six rebounds. He was a key player of Ventspils, leading his team to a 105-59 easy win against the lower-ranked Jelgava (#6, 8-8). Many experts and fans count Ventspils as a contender for championship title. Another victory and another confirmation that they may be right. Just look at their record: 9 victories and only one lost games.. Zakis has a very solid season. In 8 games in Latvia he scored 11.3ppg.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Matiss Rudmiezis (190-F-91) of Turiba - 26 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists
5. Tyler Cain (203-F-88) of Barons kvartals - 13 points and 10 rebounds
6. Folarin Campbell (192-G-86) of Ventspils - 18 points and 3 rebounds
7. Kristaps Dargais (198-G-90) of LU - 14 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists
8. Janis Berzins (202-F-93) of Valmiera - 16 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists
9. Zanis Peiners (204-G-90) of LU - 19 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists
10. Martins Laksa (200-SF-90) of Ventspils - 13 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
