Ieva Kublina
Fenerbahce Spor Kulubu (TKBL) landed 31-year old Latvian ex-international center Ieva Kublina (193-82, college: Virginia Tech). She played recently at UNI Gyor in Hungarian A Division. In 15 games this season she averaged 12.8ppg, 6.0rpg and 2.2apg. Kublina also played 9 games in Euroleague where she had 11.1ppg, 6.6rpg and 2.2apg. The last season she played at Cercle Jean Mace Bourges (LFB) in French LFB. In 47 games last year she had 4.5ppg and 4.3rpg. She helped them to win the regular season and make it to the final. They also played in the cup final.
In 2004 Kublina was drafted by Indiana Fever (WNBA) in third round (31st overall).
She attended Virginia Tech and it will be her ninth season in pro basketball.
Among other achievements Kublina received All-Hungarian League Honorable Mention award in 2011.
She was also a member of Latvian international program for some years. Kublina played for Latvian Senior National Team between 2003 and 2012 and previously for U21 National Team back in 2003. She represented Latvia at the European Championships in Poland two years ago. Her stats at that event were 9 games: 8.3ppg, 5.2rpg, 1.1apg, FGP: 45.2%, 3PT: 38.5%, FT: 77.8%.
Kublina is a very experienced player. She has played also professionally in Czech Rep., Lithuania (VICI Aistes), Russia (Dynamo Moscow), France (Mondeville and Lattes Montpellier), Czech Republic (USK Praha), Hungary (DKSK Miskolc) and Latvia (TTT Riga).
Kublinas game is described as: Ieva has the perfect combination of size, mobility, and offensive versatility that many coaches look for in their post players. At 64" she has the ability to use several low post moves effectively as well as extend her range beyond the 3pt line making her a versatile offensive weapon. Defensively Ieva is a force in the paint because of her uncanny shot blocking ability.
