Traditionally, every week we bring you a list of the top performances of Latvians who are currently playing abroad.

   #1. This week's number one is an experienced former international forward Gunta Basko (181-80, agency: Josep and Nicolas, college: Siena, currently plays in France). She was the major contributor in a Nantes Reze's victory against the closely-ranked Basket Landes (9-7) 68-63 in the French LFB in Saturday night's game. Basko recorded 15 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 25 minutes on the court. Nantes Reze Basket (9-7) is placed fifth in the LFB. It's Basko's first season with the team. She has relatively good stats this year: 11.0ppg, 5.6rpg, 1.4apg, 1.1spg, 2FGP: 58.1%(36-62), 3FGP: 23.1% and FT: 75.0% in the 12 games she played so far. Former TTT Riga starter played for the Latvian senior national team two years ago.

   #2. Second place goes to an international center Zane Teilane-Tamane (200-83, agency: LBM Management, college: W.Illinois, currently plays in Euroleague). Teilane-Tamane contributed to a 3-point Nadezhda Orenburg's victory against the closely-ranked CSM Targoviste (3-6) 71-68 in the Euroleague last Wednesday. She scored 8 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Nadezhda Orenburg (6-4) is placed fourth in group B. There are only two games left until the end of the Euroleague Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. This season Teilane-Tamane averages: 8.1ppg, 8.7rpg, 2FGP: 54.5%. She is in the roster of the Latvian senior national team.

   #3. The Latvian player who performed third best last week abroad was an international power forward Aija Putnina (191-88, also represented by Josep and Nicolas, currently plays in Spain). Putnina led Navarra Pamplona to an easy victory against one of league's weakest teams Conquero (2-9) crushing them 70-43 in the Spanish LFB on Saturday night. She had a double-double by scoring 13 points and getting 15 rebounds. Putnina also added 2 blocks in 35 minutes. UNB Obenasa Navarra Pamplona (6-5) is placed fifth in the LFB. It was her team's third consecutive victory in a row. Putnina belongs to league's top scorers (ranked #4) and also on the list of best rebounders (second place). She has individually a very good year with high stats. Putnina averages: 16.4ppg, 8.5rpg, 1.1spg, 2FGP: 44.8%, 3FGP: 27.8% and FT: 81.6% in the 10 games. She is also a member of the Latvian senior national team.

   #4. Center Ieva Kulite (191-88, currently plays in Germany) led Wildcats Wolfenbuettel to a victory over the league outsider Herner TC (2-10) crushing them 88-63 in the German DBBL in Saturday night's game. Kulite was MVP of the game. She recorded a double-double by scoring 22 points and getting 12 rebounds. BC Wildcats Wolfenbuettel (8-4) is placed fourth in the DBBL. This season Kulite has relatively solid stats: 10.8ppg and 7.9rpg. She used to play for the Latvian U18 national team back in 2006.

   #5. International power forward Liene Jansone (192-81, college: Siena, currently plays in Turkey), who plays in the Turkish TKBL could not help Tarsus Bld (9-4) to beat Galatasaray (12-3). She recorded 9 points. But Tarsus Bld was crushed 79-57 on the road by the lower-ranked Galatasaray (#5). They ended the series of six consecutive victories. Jansone's overall stats this season are: 6.0ppg and 3.5rpg. She plays currently for the Latvian national team.

   #6. Power forward Dace Brumermane (187-81, another player represented by Josep and Nicolas, currently plays in France) contributed to Dunkerque's victory against the fifth-ranked Pau Lacq Orthez (9-5) 74-69 in the French LF2 (12th division) in Saturday night's game. Brumermane had a double-double by scoring 20 points and getting 15 rebounds in 39 minutes. Dunkerque Malo Basket Club (5-9) is placed tenth in the LF2. It was her team's third consecutive victory in a row. Brumermane is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's her sixth year in Dunkerque's roster. She is currently fourth on the list of top scorers with 15.8ppg. Brumermane also averaged so far 7.5rpg in the 11 games. She is a former international player as she played for the Latvian senior team twelve years ago.

   #7. International center Aija Brumermane (191-86, agency: Regeneracom Sports, currently plays in Hungary), who plays in the Hungarian A Division was not able to help Bacsbasket (9-8) in their last game on Sunday. Despite Brumermane's very good performance Bacsbasket was defeated 64-53 in Miskolc by the higher-ranked DKSK (#3). She was the top scorer with 15 points. Brumermane's team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And now that game is very crucial. Brumermane has reliable stats this season: 10.9ppg, 6.1rpg, 1.6apg and 1.1spg. She is also Latvian national team player.

   #8. Shooting guard Anete Jekabsone-Zogota (177-83, currently plays in Euroleague) managed to help UMMC Ekaterinburg in a victory against the fifth-ranked CCC Polkowice (4-6) 85-67 in the Euroleague on Wednesday night. Jekabsone-Zogota scored only 3 points in 16 minutes. UMMC Ekaterinburg (9-0) is placed first in group C. So far her team won all nine games in the Regular Season. There are only three games left until the end of the Euroleague Regular Season. So now every game will be important. This year Jekabsone-Zogota averages just 4.0ppg in the seven games. She used to play for the Latvian national team back in 2009.

   #9. Former University international power forward Lauma Reke (185-86, college: St.Peter's, currently plays in Italy) was the main contributor in a 1-point T. La Spezia's victory against the ninth-ranked Salerno (6-8) 79-78 in the Italian A2 (12th division) in Saturday night's game. Reke was the best player in that game. She scored 14 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Termocarispe La Spezia (11-2) is placed second in South group. It was her team's seventh consecutive victory in a row. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be extremely important. Reke is currently seventh on the list of top scorers. This season she has very high stats. Reke averages: 16.4ppg, 7.3rpg and 1.9spg. She used to play for the Latvian university national team six years ago.

   #10. Forward Sabine Dukate (174-93, currently plays in Lithuania), who plays in the Lithuanian LMKL was not able to secure a victory for Suduva (9-6) in their last game. Despite Dukate's good performance Suduva lost 61-68 at home to the second-ranked Sirenos. She scored 10 points and added 4 assists in 29 minutes. This year Dukate's overall stats are: 7.9ppg, 2.7rpg and 1.4apg in the 15 games. She is U20 international player who is currently on the Latvian National Team roster.

   #11. International guard Kristine Karklina (175-83, another player represented by Regeneracom Sports, currently plays in Turkey) contributed to an easy victory against one of league's weakest teams Edremit 89-71 in the Turkish TKBL on Saturday night. Karklina recorded 8 points and added 4 assists. Karklina's total stats this season are: 8.8ppg, 1.7rpg, 2.2apg and 1.4spg. She plays currently for the Latvian national team.

   #12. Former international center Anita Teilane (196-85, currently plays in Bulgaria), who plays in the Bulgarian NBL couldn't help Haskovo 2012 (5-8) in their last game. Despite Teilane's good performance Haskovo 2012 was badly defeated 85-68 in Sofia by the higher-ranked (#3) Levski. She scored 12 points, had 8 rebounds and made 4 blocks in 29 minutes. It was his first game for Haskovo 2012 this season. Teilane used to play for the Latvian national team back in 2007.

   #13. Former international guard Elina Babkina (173-89, another player represented by LBM Management, currently plays in Czech Republic) contributed to a USK Praha's victory against the sixth-ranked VSE Praha 102-90 in a derby game in the Czech Republic ZBL last Saturday. She scored only 2 points. It was his first game for USK Praha this season. Babkina used to play for the Latvian national team two years ago.

   #14. International center Liga Surkusa (194-91, currently plays in Italy) helped Broni win their game against the tenth-ranked Muggia 67-58 in the Italian A2 (12th division) on Sunday night. She scored 10 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 25 minutes. Surkusa is currently second on the league's list of best blockers with 1.5bpg. This year her other stats are: 8.7ppg, 9.1rpg and 1.3spg in the 15 games. Surkusa plays currently for the Latvian national team.

   #15. Former U20 international center Zenta Melnika (197-91, agency: FCM, currently plays in Romania) helped Alba Iulia win their game against the eighth-ranked Craiova 66-59 in the Romanian Liga Nationala in Saturday night's game. She recorded only 4 points. Melnika's total stats this season are: 5.3ppg and 3.2rpg. She used to play for the Latvian U20 national team three years ago.


One more player who has never been selected to any of national teams, but has Latvian passport:

   #1. Experienced Rima Valentiene (170-PG-78, currently plays in Lithuania) contributed to an easy victory against the league outsider Jaunieji Talentai (1-14) crushing them 93-49 in a derby game in the Lithuanian LMKL last Friday. Valentiene scored 7 points, made 6 passes and 3 steals in 22 minutes. Kibirkstis-Tiche-IKI Vilnius (14-1) is placed first in the LMKL. It was her team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. This year Valentiene's overall stats are: 5.7ppg, 2.9rpg, 2.4apg and 1.3spg in the 15 games she played so far.

Tallina U. - Vega 1/Liepaja 65-64 Tallina Uni held off Vega 1/Liepaja to take 1-0 lead in the quarterfinal series. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 21-10. But Vega 1 won third quarter 22-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. She had the game-high 20 points adding seven rebounds and nine assists for TTT Riga in her team's victory, helping them to outclass Vega 1/Liepaja (#3, 5-7) with 57-point margin 119-62.
