The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Valmiera (12-7) on the court of fourth ranked Ventspils on Friday night. Visitors were rolled over by Ventspils 102-71. The game without a history. Ventspils led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Valmiera's 26 and made 26-of-34 free shots (76.5 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Valmiera 37-23 including a 30-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Ventspils especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 71.4 percentage. 24 personal fouls committed by Valmiera helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. International forward Janis Timma (201-92, agency: FCM) scored 20 points (perfect from the field making all six shots) to lead the charge for the winners and American point guard Donald Sims (185-87, college: Appalachian St.) chipped in 20 points during the contest. Ventspils' coach Roberts Stelmahers felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side forward Janis Berzins (202-93, agency: Players Group) responded with 17 points and 5 rebounds. Ventspils (10-1) have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position. Valmiera at the other side still keeps top place with seven games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
LBL top team - Valmiera (12-7) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed ninth ranked Liepaja (6-13) 87-62. Forward Janis Berzins (202-93, agency: Players Group) notched 22 points and 8 rebounds to lead the effort and Viktors Iljins supported him with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Coach Varis Krumins's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 20 points and 5 rebounds by guard Roberts Krastins (194-94) did not help to save the game for Liepaja. Valmiera maintains first position with 12-7 record. Liepaja at the other side keeps the ninth place with 13 games lost. Valmiera will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Liepaja will play at home against Latvijas Universitate (#8) in Riga and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in Riga supposed to be also quite interesting. Seventh ranked Jelgava (9-9) played at the court of 8th ranked Latvijas Universitate (8-11). Jelgava smashed Latvijas Universitate 108-86 on Wednesday. Shedrick Haynes fired 22 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Kristaps Dargais produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Jelgava moved-up to sixth place. Loser Latvijas Universitate keeps the eighth position with 11 games lost. Jelgava will meet higher ranked Jekabpils (#3) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Latvijas Universitate will play against Liepaja (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last two games of round 22 Jurmala lost to Jekabpils on the opponent's court 63-81. Barons kvartals outscored Turiba in a home game 98-68.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 21 points and 10 rebounds by Tyler Cain of Barons kvartals.

Jekabpils - Jurmala 81-63

Very expected game when 7th ranked Jurmala (9-10) was defeated on the road by third ranked Jekabpils (11-8) 81-63 on Thursday. The game without a history. Jekabpils led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Jekabpils outrebounded Jurmala 41-29 including 30 on the defensive glass. American center Todd O'Brien (213-89, college: UAB) fired a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) for the winners. The former international point guard Rinalds Sirsnins (186-85) chipped in 14 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Jekabpils players scored in double figures. Jekabpils' coach Edgars Teteris used a ten-player rotation saving starting five for next games. Center Roberts Mednis (204-89) produced 15 points and forward Atis Ozols (199-81) added 14 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Newly promoted Jekabpils maintains third position with 11-8 record behind leader Valmiera. Loser Jurmala keeps the seventh place with ten games lost. Barons kvartals - Turiba 98-68

Very predictable result in Riga where second ranked Barons kvartals (11-7) smashed 10th ranked Turiba (5-14) 98-68 on Thursday. The game was mostly controlled by Barons kvartals. Turiba managed to win second period 27-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 22-of-27 free shots (81.5 percent) during the game. Barons kvartals looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Turiba's players. American forward Tyler Cain (203-88, college: S.Dakota) fired a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Swingman Salvis Metra (195-84) chipped in 13 points and 8 assists. Four Barons kvartals players scored in double figures. Forward Matiss Rudmiezis (190-91) produced 17 points and power forward Juris Kalnins (200-93) added 10 points respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Barons kvartals have a solid four-game winning streak. They dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Latvijas Universitate's 42. They outrebounded Latvijas Universitate 45-34 including a 30-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Jelgava looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American guard Shedrick Haynes (182-88, college: Tarleton St.) fired 22 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Guard Sandis Silavs (195-88) chipped in 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Jelgava players scored in double figures. Center Roberts Mednis (205-C-89) had an amazing evening in the last round for Gulbenes Buki (they play in Places 1-1), receiving a Eurobasket.com LBL2 Player of the Week award for round 6 (Second Stage). The 27-year old player was the main contributor (30 points, eight rebounds and four assists) to as his team Gulbenes Buki maintains the 10th position in Latvian LBL2. The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Riga: Marupe (#5) and RSU (#5). RSU was defeated at home 54-69 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. The game was mostly controlled by Marupe. RSU managed to win second period 18-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening.
