There will be only one (last) round of the Regular Season in LSBL. The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with derby games and favorites losing the games.

The most important game in the last round took place in Riga between second ranked Eclex Tallinn (11-2) and fifth ranked RTU-Merks (9-5) on Saturday night. Eclex Tallinn was defeated by RTU-Merks in a tough game on the road 69-76. Eclex Tallinn trailed by 13 points after 3 quarters before a 23-17 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 69-76 at the end of the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when RTU-Merks made 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of center Daina Lazdeniece (187-89) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds. Guard Asnate Fomina (176-94) contributed with 17 points, 8 rebounds, 10 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Estonian power forward Annika Koster (185-92) replied with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 15 rebounds for Eclex Tallinn. RTU-Merks maintains fifth position with 9-5 record. Eclex Tallinn at the other side dropped to the third place with two games lost. RTU-Merks are looking forward to face Audentes SG/N. (#8) at home in the next round. Eclex Tallinn will play against Latvijas Universitate (#11) in Riga and is hoping to win this game.
LSBL top team - Cesis (13-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed tenth ranked Latvijas Universitate (3-11) 90-44. Worth to mention a quality performance of forward Dita Liepkalne (185-87, college: Hawaii) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 14 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists and Kristine Silaraja who added 16 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) during the contest. Cesis' coach Armands Kraulins felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side guard Marita Pulla (167-93) responded with 11 points and 5 rebounds. Undefeated Cesis have an impressive 13-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 13-0 record. Latvijas Universitate lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth place with 11 games lost. They share the position with Rapla KK and Kolibri/U-16. Cesis will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Latvijas Universitate will play at home against Eclex Tallinn (#3) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Bottom-ranked Tartu U. is still unable to win any game. This time they lost on the road their 12th consecutive match to fifth ranked RTU-Merks (9-5) 75-42 on Friday evening. The winners were led by Daina Lazdeniece who had that evening a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds. Even 7 points and 6 rebounds by Berta Murk did not help to save the game for Tartu U.. Tartu U.'s coach Kaire Asi gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. RTU-Merks maintains fifth position with 9-5 record. Loser Tartu U. still closes the standings with 12 games lost. RTU-Merks will meet at home Audentes SG/N. (#8) in the next round. Tartu U. will play against Audentes SG/N. (#8) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
The game in Tallinn supposed to be also worth to mention about. 6th ranked TTT Juniores (6-8) played at the court of seventh ranked Tallina U. (6-7). Tallina U. smashed TTT Juniores 95-54. Oksana Miil fired 28 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. TTT Juniores' coach already knew that her team would not have a big chance, so allowed to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Tallina U. maintains seventh position with 6-7 record. TTT Juniores at the other side keep the sixth place with eight games lost.
The game in Tallinn was also quite interesting. Second ranked TTT Riga (13-2) played at the court of 7th ranked Tallina U. (6-7). TTT Riga did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 89-70 on Saturday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Tallina U.. It was a very good performance for Dita Rozenberga who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds. TTT Riga's coach Aigars Nerips used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. TTT Riga have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains second position with 13-2 record having just -2 point less than leader Cesis. Loser Tallina U. keeps the seventh place with seven games lost. TTT Riga will face Liepajas (#4) at home in the next round.

Other games in round 16 were not that significant. TTT Riga smashed Kolibri/U-16 on the road 117-36. Rapla KK lost to defending champion TTT Riga on its own court 39-110. TTT Juniores unfortunately lost to Rapla KK in a road game 58-68. Rapla KK were rolled over Eclex Tallinn at home 58-84.


Kolibri/U-16 - TTT Riga 36-117

No shocking result in a game when second ranked TTT Riga (13-2) crushed on the road 9th ranked Kolibri/U-16 (3-11) 117-36 on Tuesday. TTT Riga held Kolibri/U-16 to an opponent 19.7 percent shooting from the field compared to 52.2 percent accuracy of the winners. TTT Riga forced 28 Kolibri/U-16 turnovers and outrebounded them 55-29 including a 25-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. TTT Riga looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Kolibri/U-16's players. It was a very good performance for forward Dita Rozenberga (181-92) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points and 16 rebounds. International swingman Ieva Krastina (174-90, agency: LBM Management) contributed with 17 points, 5 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Four TTT Riga players scored in double figures. Coach Aigars Nerips's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Forward Paula Strautmane (184-97) replied with 6 points and 8 rebounds and guard Annija Einere (169-97) added 2 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Kolibri/U-16. TTT Riga have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains second position with 13-2 record having just -2 point less than leader Cesis. Kolibri/U-16 lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the ninth place with 11 games lost. TTT Riga will face Liepajas (#4) at home in the next round.

The game in Tallinn supposed to be also worth to mention about. 6th ranked TTT Juniores (6-8) played at the court of seventh ranked Tallina U. (6-7). Tallina U. smashed TTT Juniores 95-54. The game without a history. Tallina U. led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to TTT Juniores' 32 and made 22-of-28 charity shots (78.6 percent) during the game. They outrebounded TTT Juniores 50-30 including a 32-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Tallina U. brought some defensive toughness making 11 blocks. 25 personal fouls committed by TTT Juniores helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Estonian guard Oksana Miil (172-86) fired 28 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Estonian guard Pirgit Puu (168-88) chipped in a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds. TTT Riga led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Rapla KK to just 7 points in fourth quarter. TTT Riga dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Rapla KK's 24 and made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. TTT Riga forced 26 Rapla KK turnovers and outrebounded them 53-23 including a 16-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. The most important game in the last round took place in Riga between second ranked Eclex Tallinn (11-2) and fifth ranked RTU-Merks (9-5) on Saturday night. Eclex Tallinn was defeated by RTU-Merks in a tough game on the road 69-76. Eclex Tallinn trailed by 13 points after 3 quarters before a 23-17 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 69-76 at the end of the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when RTU-Merks made 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of center Daina Lazdeniece (187-89) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds. Guard Asnate Fomina (176-94) contributed with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 8 rebounds, 10 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Estonian power forward Annika Koster (185-92) replied with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 15 rebounds and Estonian power forward Laina Mesila-Kaarmann (186-87) added 14 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Eclex Tallinn. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. RTU-Merks maintains fifth position with 9-5 record. Eclex Tallinn at the other side dropped to the third place with two games lost. RTU-Merks are looking forward to face Audentes SG/N. (#8) at home in the next round. Eclex Tallinn will play against Latvijas Universitate (#11) in Riga and is hoping to win this game.

LSBL top team - Cesis (13-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed tenth ranked Latvijas Universitate (3-11) 90-44. The game without a history. Cesis led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Latvijas Universitate's 22. Cesis forced 26 Latvijas Universitate turnovers and outrebounded them 40-28 including 25 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists comparing to just 4 passes made by Latvijas Universitate's players. Worth to mention a quality performance of forward Dita Liepkalne (185-87, college: Hawaii) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 14 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Kristine Silaraja (172-87, college: Robert Morris) who added 16 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) during the contest. Four Cesis players scored in double figures. Cesis' coach Armands Kraulins felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side guard Marita Pulla (167-93) responded with 11 points and 5 rebounds and guard Anete Vorma (165-89) scored 10 points. Cesis have an impressive 13-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 13-0 record. Latvijas Universitate lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth place with 11 games lost. They share the position with Rapla KK and Kolibri/U-16. Cesis will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Latvijas Universitate will play at home against Eclex Tallinn (#3) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
