Coincidentally all hosts won their games.

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Barons kvartals as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Barons kvartals defeated 7th ranked Jurmala in Riga 79-63. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 79-63. Barons kvartals outrebounded Jurmala 40-29 including a 30-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for American forward Tyler Cain (203-88, college: S.Dakota) who led his team to a victory with 11 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Maris Gulbis (202-85, agency: Players Group) contributed with 13 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Forward Janis Dilevka (200-88) replied with 13 points and 6 rebounds for Jurmala. Jurmala's coach Jevgenijs Kosuskins rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Barons kvartals (13-7) have an impressive six-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Jurmala lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with 12 games lost.
Very important is a road loss of third ranked Valmiera (12-8) against tenth ranked Turiba (7-14) on Wednesday night. Visiting Valmiera was edged by Turiba in a tough game in Turiba 73-76. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Karlis Apsitis (200-92) who helped to win the game recording 14 points and 6 rebounds and Martins Vinauds who added 15 points during the contest. Turiba's coach Arnis Vecvagars allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. The best for the losing side was forward Janis Berzins (202-93, agency: Players Group) with 28 points and 8 rebounds. Turiba moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Liepaja. Valmiera at the other side keeps the third position with eight games lost.
A very close game took place in Turiba between Turiba and Jurmala. Tenth ranked Turiba (7-14) got a very close home victory over 7th ranked Jurmala (9-12). Turiba managed to escape with a 3-point win 78-75 on Saturday evening. The winners were led by Karlis Apsitis who scored that evening 19 points and 5 rebounds. Turiba's coach Arnis Vecvagars used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Even 20 points and 8 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) by Roberts Mednis did not help to save the game for Jurmala. Turiba moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Liepaja. Jurmala lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with 12 games lost.
The game between third ranked Jekabpils (13-8) and 11th ranked U18 (1-11) in Jekabpils ended with biggest points difference. Jekabpils outscored guests from Riga 106-58. The best player for the winners was Jurijs Aleksejevs who scored 22 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. U18's coach Nikolajs Mazurs gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Jekabpils have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. U18 lost seventh consecutive game. U18 at the other side, also newcomer in the league, stay at the bottom position with 11 games lost.

In the last game of round 24 Liepaja was smashed by VEF Riga on the road 80-58.


Barons kvartals - Jurmala 79-63

Jekabpils - U18 106-58

The game between third ranked Jekabpils (13-8) and 11th ranked U18 (1-11) in Jekabpils ended with biggest points difference. Jekabpils outscored guests from Riga 106-58. The game without a history. Jekabpils led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to U18's 26. Jekabpils forced 19 U18 turnovers and outrebounded them 43-25 including a 34-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three nailing 18 long-distance shots on high 56.3 percentage. Jekabpils players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by U18's players. The best player for the winners was the former international center Jurijs Aleksejevs (202-85) who scored 22 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. American point guard P.J. Hill jr. (182-87, college: Ohio St.) chipped in 20 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Hill jr. is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Jekabpils players scored in double figures. No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked VEF Riga (10-1) crushed at home 9th ranked Liepaja (7-14) 80-58. The game without a history. VEF Riga led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Liepaja's 28. VEF Riga forced 32 Liepaja turnovers. The best player for the winners was the former international center Lauris Blaus (204-90, agency: FCM) who scored 16 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). American forward Will Daniels (203-86, college: Rhode Island) chipped in 18 points and 4 steals. Four VEF Riga players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Ingus Jakovics (185-93) who recorded 16 points and American guard Greg Plater (185-89, college: Long Beach St.) added 10 points respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. VEF Riga have an impressive five-game winning streak. Defending champion moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Ventspils. Liepaja at the other side keeps the ninth position with 14 games lost.

A very close game took place in Turiba between Turiba and Jurmala. Tenth ranked Turiba (7-14) got a very close home victory over 7th ranked Jurmala (9-12). Jurmala was trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 4-point lead after three quarters before a 17-10 charge of Turiba, which allowed them to win the game.
