#1. This week's number one is former international center Anita Teilane (196-85, currently plays in Bulgaria). She was the major contributor in a Haskovo 2012's victory against the league leader Neftochimic (17-1) 84-80 in the Bulgarian NBL in Saturday night's game.
Teilane scored 27 points (!!!), had 6 rebounds and made 5 blocks in 44 minutes on the court.
It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Haskovo 2012 (9-9) is placed third in the NBL.
Teilane has individually a very good year with high stats. She averages: 17.7ppg, 9.5rpg, 1.8apg, 3.2bpg, 2FGP: 47.7% and FT: 66.7% in the six games she played so far.
Teilane played for the Latvian senior national team six years ago.
#2. Second place goes to an international guard Kristine Karklina (175-83, agency: Regeneracom Sports, currently plays in Turkey). She led Ceyhan Bld to a victory over the 11th-ranked Canik Bld (7-11) 80-74 in the Turkish TKBL last Saturday.
Karklina was MVP of the game. She scored 21 points, made 3 passes and 3 steals (was perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line).
Ceyhan Belediyespor (9-9) is placed sixth in the TKBL.
Karklina's overall stats this season are: 9.4ppg, 1.9rpg, 2.5apg, 1.6spg, 2FGP: 50.7%, 3FGP: 32.5% and FT: 91.7%(55-60).
She is in the roster of the Latvian senior national team.
#3. The Latvian player who performed third best last week abroad was an experienced former international forward Gunta Basko (181-80, agency: Josep and Nicolas, college: Siena, currently plays in France), who plays in the French LFB. Basko could not help Nantes Reze (9-10) in their last game. Despite her very good performance Nantes Reze was edged 68-66 on the road by the lower-ranked (#8) Mondeville.
Basko was the top scorer with 21 points in 32 minutes.
It was Nantes Reze's third consecutive loss in a row.
Basko has relatively good stats this year: 11.3ppg, 5.2rpg, 1.6apg, 1.1spg, 2FGP: 55.3%(42-76), 3FGP: 27.3% and FT: 71.4% in the 15 games.
Former TTT Riga starter played for the Latvian national team two years ago.
#4. Power forward Aija Putnina (191-88, also represented by Josep and Nicolas, currently plays in Spain), who plays in the Spanish LFB was not able to help Navarra Pamplona (7-7) in their last game on Saturday. Despite her good performance Navarra Pamplona was defeated 66-57 in Rivas by the leading Ecopolis.
Putnina recorded a double-double by scoring 13 points and getting 10 rebounds.
It's Putnina's first season with the team.
Putnina is ranked third on the list of the top scorers in the league and also on the list of best rebounders (second place).
This season she has very high stats. Putnina averages: 16.8ppg, 8.9rpg and 1.1spg.
She is also Latvian national team player.
#5. Former University international power forward Lauma Reke (185-86, college: St.Peter's, currently plays in Italy) was not able to secure a victory for T. La Spezia (15-3) in their game against S. La Spezia (14-4) in the Italian A2 (12th division), despite her very good performance last Saturday.
Reke had a double-double by scoring 18 points and getting 10 rebounds in 34 minutes.
But the second-placed T. La Spezia lost 48-54 in a derby game to the lower-ranked (#3) S. La Spezia in the South group.
They ended the series of eleven consecutive victories.
The Regular Season already ended.
Reke is currently ninth on the list of top scorers with 15.2ppg.
This year she also averages: 7.8rpg and 1.7spg in the 18 games.

six years ago.
#6. Center Liga Surkusa (194-91, currently plays in Italy) was the main contributor in Broni's victory against the 13th-ranked Cremona (4-16) 59-43 in the Italian A2 (12th division) on Saturday night.
She was the best player in that game. Surkusa scored 23 points and grabbed 8 rebounds.
OMC Cignoli Broni (10-10) is placed seventh in North group.
There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical.
Surkusa is currently second on the league's list of best blockers.
She has very reliable stats this season: 10.2ppg, 8.9rpg, 1.3bpg and 1.3spg.
Surkusa is an international player who is currently on the senior Latvian National Team roster.
#7. Former international forward Ieva Veinberga (183-84, currently plays in Lithuania) contributed to an easy victory against the league outsider Jaunieji Talentai (1-20) crushing them 83-39 in the Lithuanian LMKL in Friday night's game.
She scored 13 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in 23 minutes.
Suduva-Mantinga Marijampole (14-6) is placed fourth in the LMKL.
It was her team's third consecutive victory in a row.
This year Veinberga's overall stats are: 7.3ppg, 4.2rpg, 1.1apg and 1.2spg in the 17 games.

#8. Power forward Dace Brumermane (187-81, another player represented by Josep and Nicolas, currently plays in France) contributed to Dunkerque's victory against the closely-ranked Roche (7-8) 77-71 in the French LF2 (12th division) last Saturday.
Brumermane was the top player that evening. She recorded a double-double by scoring 21 points and getting 14 rebounds.
Dunkerque Malo Basket Club (6-10) is placed tenth in the LF2.
Brumermane is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's her sixth year in Dunkerque's roster.
Brumermane is currently third on the list of top scorers.
This season she has very high stats. Brumermane averages: 16.6ppg, 8.1rpg and 1.1apg.

#9. Former U20 international center Zenta Melnika (197-91, agency: FCM, currently plays in Romania) contributed to an easy victory against one of league's weakest teams Oradea (0-20) crushing them 132-40 in the Romanian Liga Nationala on Saturday night.
Melnika recorded 13 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists in 21 minutes.
CSU Alba Iulia (14-6) is placed fifth in the Liga Nationala.
This year Melnika's total stats are: 5.0ppg and 3.2rpg in the 18 games.
She used to play for the Latvian U20 national team

#10. Shooting guard Anete Jekabsone-Zogota (177-83, currently plays in Russia) contributed to an UMMC Ekaterinburg's victory against the sixth-ranked Vologda-Chevakata (6-8) 77-64 in the Russian PBL in Sunday night's game.
Jekabsone-Zogota scored 10 points.
UMMC Ekaterinburg (12-1) is placed first in the PBL.
It was her team's fourth consecutive victory in a row.
Jekabsone-Zogota has averaged so far 9.0ppg, 1.8rpg and 2.0apg.
She is a former international player as four years ago she still played for the Latvian senior national team.
#11. International center Zane Teilane-Tamane (200-83, agency: LBM Management, college: W.Illinois, currently plays in Russia) contributed to a Nadezhda Orenburg's victory against one of league's weakest teams Energy Ivanovo 73-67 in the Russian PBL last Sunday.
Teilane-Tamane scored 8 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and made 2 blocks in 22 minutes.
Teilane-Tamane has averaged so far 8.6ppg, 6.9rpg, 1.3apg and 1.1spg in the 14 games.
She plays currently for the Latvian national team.
#12. International center Aija Brumermane (191-86, another player represented by Regeneracom Sports, currently plays in Hungary) helped Bacsbasket win their game against the third-ranked Atomeromu 71-54 in the Hungarian A Division on Sunday night.
Brumermane scored 10 points and grabbed 5 rebounds.
This season Brumermane has relatively solid stats: 11.2ppg, 5.8rpg and 1.6apg.
She is also in the roster of the Latvian national team.
#13. International forward Sabine Niedola (184-91, currently plays in Spain) helped Cadi ICG Software win their game against the eighth-ranked Caja Rural 89-79 in the Spanish LFB in Saturday night's game.
Niedola recorded 6 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 17 minutes.
Niedola has averaged so far 6.1ppg and 4.0rpg in the nine games.
She is also Latvian national team player.
#14. International guard Baiba Eglite (179-89, college: UTEP, currently plays in Czech Republic) couldn't help Lokomotiva Karlovy Vary in their game against Basket Slovanka MB in the Czech Republic ZBL.

Her team was badly defeated by 17 points 80-63.

#15. Former U18 international center Ieva Kulite (191-88, currently plays in Germany) couldn't help Wildcats Wolfenbuettel in their game against Oberhausen in the German DBBL.
She recorded only 4 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists.
Her team was defeated 74-59.
Kulite has reliable stats this season: 10.8ppg, 7.8rpg and 1.2apg.

She has played also professionally in Israel (Ramat Hasharon), Italy (Venezia), Poland (Wisla Can-Pack), Russia (Dynamo Kursk) and Spain (Perfumerias Avenida) and France (Lattes Montpellier and Nantes Reze). It's very possible she may end her playing career at TTT Riga. Basko-Melnbarde attended Siena College until 2003 and it will be her 14th (!!!) season as a professional player. She could be described:
Gunta has a Latvian passport and speaks four languages: Latvian, English, Russian and some German. She is a versatile player with a strong, physical body that is also mobile. She is a skilled offensive player and excellent finisher with a mature presence on the court. She can shoot and handle the ball with both hands. She is a hard-worker, very coachable and has a great attitude.
Tuenti Movil Estudiantes Madrid (LF2) landed 25-year old Latvian power forward Linda Rubene (189-91, college: Indiana). She has played for the last two years at CREF Hola in the LFB. LFB was a little too high level for her, where in 13 games she averaged just 1.8ppg and 1.5rpg last season. LF2 will be definitely a better match and she can see more playing time.
