The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Barons kvartals as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Barons kvartals smashed 6th ranked Jelgava in Riga 100-81. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 100-81. Barons kvartals had a 32-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. 26 personal fouls committed by Jelgava helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for American forward Tyler Cain (203-88, college: S.Dakota) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks. His fellow American import guard Jamar Diggs (187-88, college: Wofford, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) contributed with 13 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. Forward Lauris Mizis (198-89) answered with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds for Jelgava. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Jelgava at the other side keeps the sixth place with 11 games lost. Jelgava will play next round against strong Jekabpils trying to get back on the winning streak. Barons kvartals will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked Valmiera on the road.
Important game to mention about took place in Valmiera. Eighth ranked Jurmala (10-13) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging second-best Valmiera (14-9) 65-62 on Sunday evening.
