Tyler Cain
24-year old forward Tyler Cain (203-F-88) put on an amazing game in the last round for league's best team Barons kvartals and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 27.
He had a double-double of 15 points and 12 rebounds, while his team crushed Jelgava (#6, 10-11) with 19-point margin 100-81. It allowed Barons kvartals to take over top position in the Latvian league. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Barons kvartals has a very solid 15-8 record, but they cannot be too comfortable about keeping top position. Cain turned to be Barons kvartals' top player in his first season with the team. Tyler Cain averages this season 15.5ppg and 11.2rpg.

Second best performed player last round was Todd O'Brien (213-C-89) of Jekabpils. He is American center in his first season at Jekabpils. In the last game O'Brien recorded impressive double-double of 16 points and 12 rebounds. Of course Jekabpils cruised to a 93-83 relatively comfortable win over the lower-ranked Turiba (#10, 7-17). Jekabpils' 3rd position in the standings has not changed. His team's 14-9 record is not bad at all. O'Brien is a newcomer at Jekabpils and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 16.3ppg (#4). He also registered 9.1 boards per game.

Third place about best performers goes to another Barons kvartals' star - guard Jamar Diggs (187-G-88, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management). Diggs showcased his all-around game by recording 13 points, seven rebounds and eight assists in the last round. He was another key player of Barons kvartals, helping his team with a 100-81 easy win against the lower-ranked Jelgava (#6, 10-11). Barons kvartals confirms their top position in the standings. Their record at this point is 15 victories and 8 lost games. The season just started for Diggs as he played only first game. But it already looks like he can be another team's leader.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Mikus Sokolovs (195-G-89) of Turiba - 21 points and 4 rebounds
5. Lauris Mizis (198-F-89) of Jelgava - 12 points, 12 rebounds and 2 assists
6. Janis Timma (201-F-92) of Ventspils - 16 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists
7. Michal Hlebowicki (204-C-76) of Jekabpils - 13 points, 11 rebounds and 2 assists
8. Martins Meiers (208-C-91) of Ventspils - 13 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists
9. Andris Epners (198-F-92) of Barons kvartals - 17 points and 7 rebounds
10. Akselis Vairogs (195-F-85) of Ventspils - 10 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
