The most exciting game of round 15 in the LBL2 took place in Limbazi. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 5th ranked RSU (9-9) to eighth ranked Limbazi (6-12) 79-76 on Friday evening. RSU was trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 17-12 charge of Limbazi, which allowed them to win the game. It was a great evening for forward Rolands Brencs (198-86) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points and 5 rebounds. point guard Armands Osins (190-91) helped adding 13 points and 6 assists. The best for the losing side was Rihards Ginters (192-93) with 26 points and 6 rebounds. Limbazi maintains eighth place with 6-12 record. RSU at the other side dropped to the sixth position with nine games lost. They share it with Marupe. Limbazi are looking forward to face higher ranked ViA (#4) in Valmiera in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. RSU will have a break next round.
The game between Top Four teams took place in Jelgava. Third ranked host Jelgava (16-4) defeated second-best Turiba (17-2) 99-91. It was an exceptional evening for swingman Edgars Krumins (194-86) who led the winners and scored 27 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Kalvis Krumins accounted for 16 points and 11 rebounds. point guard Elvis Endzels (188-94) came up with 28 points and 8 assists for Turiba in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Jelgava have an impressive series of ten victories in a row. They maintain third place with 16-4 record having just seven point less than leader Kekava. Turiba at the other side keeps the second position with two games lost. Jelgava will play against Marupe (#6) in Riga in the next round. Turiba will have a break next round.
The game between Top Four teams took place in Valmiera. 4th placed host ViA (13-5) lost to second ranked Kekava (17-1) 85-78. The best player for the winners was Nauris Miezis who had a double-double by scoring 17 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Oto Grinbergs who recorded 19 points and 8 rebounds. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Kekava. They keep a position of league leader. Loser ViA keeps the fourth place with five games lost. Kekava will meet Marupe (#6) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. ViA will play against Limbazi and hope to secure a win.
An interesting game took place in Riga where 9th ranked RTU (4-14) was upset on its own court by twelfth ranked Livani (2-14) 93-78. It was a good game for Daumants Pabrieza who led his team to a victory with 23 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Livani moved-up to eleventh place. RTU lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the tenth position with 14 games lost. Livani will have a break next round.

Worth to mention a quality performance of Daniels Minajevs who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!), 11 rebounds and 5 assists (on 12-of-14 shooting from the field). The victory was the fifth consecutive win for LU/BS Riga. They moved-up to fifteenth place. Jekabpils II lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the nineteenth position with 11 games lost. LU/BS Riga will face Valmiera/ORDO-2 (#18) on the road in the next round. Jekabpils II will play against Madona and hope to win that game.

There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 15: Gulbenes Buki lost to Ogre/Kumho Tyre on the opponent's court 78-84. VeA managed to outperform Valmiera/ORDO-2 in a home game 82-76. Gulbenes Buki recorded a loss to Saldus on the road 89-79.

LU/BS Riga - Jekabpils II 120-52

Seventeenth ranked LU/BS Riga (8-3) crushed at home 19th ranked Jekabpils II (3-11) by 68 points 120-52, which is the biggest margin this round on Saturday night. The game without a history. LU/BS Riga led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Jekabpils II's 14. LU/BS Riga forced 33 Jekabpils II turnovers and outrebounded them 44-28 including a 36-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. LU/BS Riga looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Jekabpils II's players. Worth to mention a quality performance of power forward Daniels Minajevs (205-95) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!), 11 rebounds and 5 assists (on 12-of-14 shooting from the field). Adrians Snipke (192-0) helped adding 28 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Five LU/BS Riga players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was guard Matiss Kolesinskis (190-99) with 18 points and 6 rebounds and guard Andrejs Grustans (192-99) scored 6 points and 7 rebounds. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for LU/BS Riga. They moved-up to fifteenth place. Jekabpils II lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the nineteenth position with 11 games lost. Very expected game when 12th ranked Gulbenes Buki (2-17) was defeated on the road by seventh ranked Ogre/Kumho Tyre (9-8) 84-78 on Saturday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Gulbenes Buki was trailing by 7 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 22-15 charge of Ogre/Kumho Tyre, which allowed them to win the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. It was a great evening for power forward Janis Lasmanis (199-87) who led his team to a victory with a triple-double by scoring 11 points, 17 rebounds and 12 assists. Guard Sandis Bets (194-92) helped adding 29 points and 5 rebounds. Four Ogre/Kumho Tyre players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American point guard Michael Panaggio (183, college: Lander) with 29 points and 6 assists (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) and center Roberts Mednis (205-89) scored 25 points and 8 rebounds. Very predictable result when thirteenth ranked Ventspils Augstskola (14-1) defeated at home 18th ranked Valmiera/ORDO-2 (6-6) 82-76 on Saturday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 44-36 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Ventspils Augstskola outrebounded Valmiera/ORDO-2 44-31 including 29 on the defensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Ventspils Augstskola made 7 blocks. It was a great evening for Belarusian power forward Denis Vikentsyeu (203-98) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 14 rebounds and 6 assists. The game between Top Four teams took place in Valmiera. 4th placed host ViA (13-5) lost to second ranked Kekava (17-1) 85-78. The guests trailed by 11 points at the halftime before their 49-31 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was forward Nauris Miezis (189-91) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists. Forward Agnis Cavars (196-86) chipped in a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds. Cavars is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Oto Grinbergs (195-90) who recorded 19 points and 8 rebounds and forward Klavs Dubults (198-96) added 12 points and 13 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Kekava. They keep a position of league leader. Loser ViA keeps the fourth place with five games lost. Kekava will meet Marupe (#6) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. ViA will play against Limbazi and hope to secure a win.
