Daniels
Minajevs
Daniels Minajevs (205-C/F-95) had a very impressive game in the last round for LU/BS Riga (they play in Places 13-21), receiving a Eurobasket.com LBL2 Player of the Week award for round 15 (Second Stage).
The 21-year old player had a double-double of 34 points and 11 rebounds, while his team outclassed Jekabpils II (#19, 3-11) with 68-point margin 120-52. Each game in Second Stage is important. but the teams lost the distance to top of the standings. LU/BS Riga is placed at 15th position in Latvian LBL2. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier in Second Stage. LU/BS Riga will need more victories to improve their 8-3 record. In the team's last game Minajevs had a remarkable 88.9% from 2-point range. It's his second year at LU/BS Riga and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Daniels Minajevs averages this season 14.6ppg and 12.0rpg.

The second best player in last round's games was young Belarusian Denis Vikentsyeu (203-F/C-98) of VeA. Vikentsyeu had a very good evening with a double-double of 21 points and 14 rebounds. It was enough for VeA to edge the lower-ranked Valmiera/ORDO-2 (#18, 6-6) 82-76. The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. VeA keeps 13th position. His team belongs to top of the standings with 14-1 record and is considered one of the main candidates for the league title. Vikentsyeu is a newcomer at VeA, but is already one of team's top players.

Third on the list of top players last round was Latvian swingman Edgars Krumins (194-G/F-86) of Jelgava (#3). Krumins showcased his all-around game by recording 27 points, seven rebounds and seven assists in the last round. He was a key player of Jelgava, leading his team to a 99-91 win against #2 ranked Turiba in a game of the week. Jelgava is closer and closer to top of the standings. They will still need more victories. But 16-4 record is not that bad... Krumins has a great season in Latvia. After 26 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 23.0ppg (3rd best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Adrians Snipke (192-PF) of LU/BS Riga - 28 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists
5. Michael Panaggio (183-PG) of Gulbenes Buki - 29 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assists
6. Janis Lasmanis (199-F/C-87) of Ogre/Kumho Tyre - 11 points, 17 rebounds and 12 assists
7. Sandis Bets (194-G-92) of Ogre/Kumho Tyre - 29 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists
8. Roberts Mednis (205-C-89) of Gulbenes Buki - 25 points and 8 rebounds
9. Kristaps Jurjans (202-C-88) of RSU - 22 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists
10. Roberts Smidrins (190-F/G-95) of Saldus - 22 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
