There will be only one (last) round of the Second Stage in LBL2. There was no lack of excitement in the last round games. The round ended with derby games and favorites losing the games.

The most important game in the last round took place in Valmiera between second ranked Turiba (18-3) and fourth ranked ViA (16-6) on Friday night. Turiba was defeated by ViA in a tough game on the road 62-67. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 25-19 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. ViA dominated on the defensive end, holding Turiba to just 6 points in third quarter. Forward Klavs Dubults (198-96) had a double-double by scoring 10 points and 16 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and guard Toms Kohanovs (191-96) chipped in 13 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was forward Elvijs Miculis (200-94) with 11 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Turiba's coach Ziedonis Jansons rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. ViA maintains fourth position with 16-6 record. Turiba at the other side keeps the second place with three games lost. ViA will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Turiba will play on the road against RTU in Riga and is hoping to win this game.
The game in Ogre supposed to be also worth to mention about. Fourth ranked ViA (16-6) played at the court of 5th ranked Ogre/Kumho Tyre (10-11). ViA smashed Ogre/Kumho Tyre 89-48. Maris Riekstins notched a double-double by scoring 19 points and 15 rebounds to lead the effort and Janis Engers supported him with 21 points and 5 rebounds. Even 17 points by guard Raimonds Pabrieza (189-88) did not help to save the game for Ogre/Kumho Tyre. ViA maintains fourth position with 16-6 record. Ogre/Kumho Tyre lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with 11 games lost. They share the position with RSU. ViA will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Ogre/Kumho Tyre will play at home against Limbazi (#8) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
An interesting game took place in Livani where higher ranked RSU (10-11) was upset on the court of eleventh ranked Livani (5-14) 77-68 on Tuesday. The best player for the winners was Juris Kalnins who had a double-double by scoring 23 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks. Livani's coach Edgars Cimars used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Rihards Ginters who recorded a double-double by scoring 29 points and 12 rebounds (went 12 for 12 at the free throw line !!!). Livani have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to tenth place. Loser RSU dropped to the fifth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Ogre/Kumho Tyre. Livani will meet at home league's leader Kekava in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. RSU will have a break next round.
21th ranked Riga/Ridzene (1-14) was outscored at home by seventeenth ranked LU/BS Riga (10-3) with the biggest margin this round 103-60. It was a good game for Daniels Minajevs who led his team to a victory with 24 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Riga/Ridzene's coach Aigars Brigmanis gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. LU/BS Riga have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifteenth place. Riga/Ridzene lost tenth consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom position with 14 games lost. LU/BS Riga's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Riga to the arena BJBS Riga.
Another interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Riga: DSN/SB (#14) and BJBS Riga (#20). BJBS Riga was defeated at home 63-71 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Pauls-Tomass Berzins had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners. DSN/SB maintains fourteenth position with 11-5 record. Loser BJBS Riga keeps the twentieth place with 12 games lost. DSN/SB's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Riga to the arena .

In the last two games of round 18 Valmiera/ORDO-2 won against Riga/Ridzene on the opponent's court 95-88. Jelgava managed to outperform Ogre/Kumho Tyre in a home game 85-71.

Ogre/Kumho Tyre - ViA 48-89

The game in Ogre supposed to be also worth to mention about. Fourth ranked ViA (16-6) played at the court of 5th ranked Ogre/Kumho Tyre (10-11). ViA smashed Ogre/Kumho Tyre 89-48. The game without a history. ViA led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Ogre/Kumho Tyre to just 7 points in third quarter. ViA dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Ogre/Kumho Tyre's 34. They outrebounded Ogre/Kumho Tyre 50-26 including a 42-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. ViA players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Maris Riekstins notched a double-double by scoring 19 points and 15 rebounds to lead the effort and forward Janis Engers (200-95) supported him with 21 points and 5 rebounds. Rather expected game when 21th ranked Riga/Ridzene (1-14) was defeated at home by eighteenth ranked Valmiera/ORDO-2 (7-8) 95-88 on Wednesday. The guests trailed by 10 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 7 points. It was a great shooting night for Valmiera/ORDO-2 especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Edgars Kaufmanis (185-99) scored 39 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and guard Rainers Kalnins (188-99) chipped in 16 points, 5 rebounds and 16 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was point guard Edgars Lacis (191-98) with 24 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Karlis Ozolins (191-98) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Riga/Ridzene's coach Aigars Brigmanis tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. It was a great shooting night for LU/BS Riga especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 56.3 percentage.
