The teams have now bigger motivation at this stage of Regular Season. Every game can be crucial and decide about teams' position at the end of Regular Season.

The most exciting game of round 25 in the LBL took place in Liepaja. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 7th ranked Jurmala (11-16) to sixth ranked Liepaja/Triobet (12-13) 69-66 on Saturday evening. The hosts trailed by 1 point after three quarters before their 16-12 charge, which allowed them to win the game. American guard Malcolm Griffin (193-91, college: Fresno Pacific, agency: Promotex) stepped up and scored 16 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners and power forward Artjoms Butjankovs (205-91) chipped in 17 points and 9 rebounds. At the losing side Arturs Strelnieks (196-85) responded with 15 points and 5 rebounds. Jurmala's coach Arnis Vecvagars rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Liepaja/Triobet moved-up to fifth place. Jurmala at the other side dropped to the eighth position with 16 games lost. Liepaja/Triobet are looking forward to face league's second-placed Valmiera at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Jurmala will have a break next round.
Very important is a road loss of third ranked Jekabpils (13-12) against eighth ranked BK Ogre (11-15) on Saturday night. Visiting Jekabpils were defeated by BK Ogre in Ogre 94-84. Point guard Marcis Vitols (183-92) nailed 21 points and 7 assists for the winning side and Karlis Apsitis accounted for 18 points and 4 assists. The former international point guard Rinalds Sirsnins (186-85) came up with 16 points and 8 assists for Jekabpils in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. BK Ogre moved-up to seventh place. Jekabpils at the other side keep the third position with 12 games lost. BK Ogre will play against league's leader Ventspils on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Jekabpils will play against Latvijas Universitate and hope to get back on the winning track.
LBL top team - Ventspils (22-2) managed to deliver another win on Saturday. This time they beat sixth ranked Barons Riga (11-11) 100-91. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Barons Riga. Andrejs Grazulis fired 16 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Ventspils' coach Karlis Muiznieks used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Kristaps Mediss produced 24 points for lost side. Ventspils have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain first place with 22-2 record. Loser Barons Riga keeps the sixth position with 11 games lost. Ventspils will meet at home BK Ogre (#7) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Barons Riga will play against the league's second-placed Valmiera and hope to secure a win.
Second ranked Valmiera (16-9) beat at home 9th ranked Latvijas Universitate (5-21) by 12 points 92-80, which is the biggest margin this round. Worth to mention a great performance of Damier Pitts who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 6 assists. Latvijas Universitate's coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Defending champion maintains second place with 16-9 record having five points less than leader Ventspils. Latvijas Universitate lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the ninth position with 21 games lost. Valmiera's next round opponent will be Liepaja/Triobet (#5) on the road. Latvijas Universitate will play against Jekabpils (#3) and hope to win that game.

In the last two games of round 25 bottom-ranked Valka/Valga lost to BK Ogre on the opponent's court 89-98. VEF Riga managed to outperform BK Ogre in a home game 84-75.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 16 points and 5 rebounds by Arnas Labuckas of VEF Riga.

BK Ogre - Valka/Valga 98-89

Rather expected game when 10th ranked Valka/Valga (3-14) was defeated on the road by eighth ranked BK Ogre (11-15) 98-89. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 30-17. But Valka/Valga won second period 26-23. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. BK Ogre made 17-of-19 charity shots (89.5 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 30 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Karlis Apsitis (200-92) who helped to win the game recording 23 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. The former international forward Janis Poznaks (203-83) contributed with 24 points (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) for the winners. Ivars-Rihards Zvigurs (198-95) answered with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds and guard Sandis Silavs (194-88) added 22 points in the effort for Valka/Valga. Five BK Ogre and four Valka/Valga players scored in double figures. BK Ogre moved-up to seventh place. Valka/Valga lost their tenth game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with 14 games lost. Second ranked Valmiera (16-9) beat at home 9th ranked Latvijas Universitate (5-21) by 12 points 92-80, which is the biggest margin this round. The game without a history. Valmiera led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Latvijas Universitate's 26. Valmiera players were unselfish on offense dishing 31 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Damier Pitts (177-89, college: Marshall) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 6 assists. The former international Arturs Berzins (204-88) contributed with 16 points for the winners. Pitts is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Valmiera players scored in double figures. Forward Harijs Rubenis (201-91) answered with 19 points and 5 rebounds and forward Janis Eiduks (200-93) added 17 points in the effort for Latvijas Universitate. Latvijas Universitate's coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. BK Ogre was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. They outrebounded BK Ogre 43-28 including 28 on the defensive glass. VEF Riga players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by BK Ogre's players. 26 personal fouls committed by BK Ogre helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a very good performance for American guard Abdul Gaddy (190-92, college: Washington) who helped to win the game recording 15 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists.
