The games are now more important than at the beginning of the Regular Season. We may still expect few shocking results in upcoming 3 rounds. There was no lack of excitement in the last round games. The round ended with defeat of the leader, derby games and favorites losing the games.

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Ventspils (25-3) on the court of eighth ranked BK Ogre on Wednesday night. Visitors were defeated by BK Ogre 95-85. Valmiera - Jurmala 80-54

Very predictable result when second ranked Valmiera (19-10) smashed at home 8th ranked Jurmala (12-17) 80-54 on Wednesday. The game without a history. Valmiera led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Valmiera outrebounded Jurmala 44-33 including a 37-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Ashton Mitchell (183-88, college: Sam Houston St.) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and forward Ervins Jonats (203-91) who added 10 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Four Valmiera players scored in double figures. At the losing side the former international point guard Edgars Jeromanovs (186-86) responded with 20 points and center Viktors Iljins (212-91) scored 10 points and 4 steals. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion maintains second position with 19-10 record having five points less than leader Ventspils. Loser Jurmala dropped to the seventh place with 17 games lost. Valmiera will face BK Ogre (#8) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Jurmala will play against Barons Riga and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
