There will be only one (last) round of the Regular Season in LBL.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Ventspils (27-4) at the home court on Wednesday night. Hosts were defeated by fourth ranked Barons Riga (16-14) 94-89. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Ventspils. Ventspils were tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. 27 personal fouls committed by Ventspils helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for Lithuanian Tauras Jogela (202-93, agency: Players Group) who led his team to a victory with 23 points and 8 rebounds. Lithuanian forward Denis Krestinin (202-94, agency: BeoBasket) contributed with 17 points (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) for the winners. The former international power forward Rolandas Zakis (206-87) replied with 15 points and 8 rebounds for Ventspils. Ventspils' coach Karlis Muiznieks tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Barons Riga have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 16-14 record. Ventspils at the other side still keep top place with four games lost. Barons Riga are looking forward to face league's second-placed Valmiera at home in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Ventspils will play against Jekabpils and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
An interesting game for Jekabpils (17-14) which played road game in Valmiera against second-best Valmiera (20-11). Third ranked Jekabpils managed to get a 14-point victory 81-67. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Valmiera. The former international point guard Rinalds Sirsnins (186-85) had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Modestas Kumpys chipped in 18 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Jekabpils' coach Rudolfs Rozitis allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was forward Ervins Jonats (203-91) with 25 points and 7 rebounds. Jekabpils maintains third position with 17-14 record having ten points less than leader Ventspils. Defending champion Valmiera keeps the second place with 11 games lost. Jekabpils will play against league's leader Ventspils at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Valmiera will play against Barons Riga and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last game of round 30 LU was beaten by BK Ogre on the road 91-82.
The most impressive performance of 30th round was 24 points and 6 rebounds by Harijs Rubenis of LU.

BK Ogre - LU 91-82

The game between closely ranked teams ended with eighth ranked BK Ogre's (13-19) home victory over 9th ranked Latvijas Universitate (5-25) 91-82. It looked good early as Latvijas Universitate took a 6-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then BK Ogre had a 29-19 second period charge getting the lead and Latvijas Universitate was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 82-91. BK Ogre shot 61.8 percent from the field. It was a great shooting night for BK Ogre especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 56.3 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. The former international forward Janis Poznaks (203-83) scored 25 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and point guard Kristaps Plavnieks (183-95) chipped in 17 points and 9 assists during the contest. Four BK Ogre players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was forward Harijs Rubenis (201-91) with 24 points and 6 rebounds and guard Edgars Lasenbergs (189-95) scored 20 points and 5 assists. BK Ogre moved-up to seventh place. Latvijas Universitate lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with 25 games lost. BK Ogre will play against higher ranked VEF Riga (#6) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Latvijas Universitate will play against Jurmala and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Energa Czarni Slupsk (PLK) inked 27-year old Latvian center Lauris Blaus (208-110kg-90). He played most recently at Valmiera/ORDO in Latvian LBL league.
