Stumbris
The Regular Season in LBL just ended.

The most crucial game of the last round was another loss of top-ranked Ventspils (27-5) on the court of third ranked Jekabpils on Saturday night. Visitors were rolled over by Jekabpils 87-66. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 87-66. Jekabpils outrebounded Ventspils 43-25 including a 28-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. 26 personal fouls committed by Ventspils helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for Roberts Stumbris (199-93) who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points and 5 rebounds. Lithuanian guard Modestas Kumpys (194-91, agency: Players Group) helped adding 18 points and 5 rebounds. At the losing side American-Bulgarian point guard Willie Deane (188-80, college: Purdue, agency: Higher Vision Sports) responded with 17 points and 4 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Jekabpils maintains third place with 18-14 record having nine points less than leader Ventspils. Ventspils at the other side still keep top position with five games lost.
The game between Top Four teams took place in Riga. 4th placed host Barons Riga (16-15) was smashed by second ranked Valmiera (21-11) 88-58. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Barons Riga. It was an exceptional evening for American-Israeli center Dor Fischer (211-81, college: W.Virginia) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 15 rebounds and 4 blocks. Damier Pitts accounted for 13 points and 8 assists. Center Davis Rozitis (215-90, college: Hawaii) came up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds for Barons Riga in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion maintains second place with 21-11 record having six points less than leader Ventspils. Barons Riga at the other side keeps the fourth position with 15 games lost.

In the last two games of round 31 Jurmala won against LU on the opponent's court 77-71. Liepaja/Triobet unfortunately lost to VEF Riga in a home game 75-84.

Latvijas Universitate lost ninth consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with 26 games lost.
