   #1. This week's number one is an international point guard Janis Strelnieks (191-89, currently plays in Germany). He was the major contributor in a Brose Baskets' victory against the 14th-ranked Walter Tigers (9-23) 87-75 in the German BBL in Thursday night's game. Strelnieks scored 15 points and added 5 passes in 28 minutes on the court. Brose Baskets Bamberg (27-3) is placed second in the BBL. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Strelnieks has relatively good stats this year: 10.2ppg, 2.3rpg, 3.6apg, 2FGP: 61.1%(33-54), 3FGP: 45.3%(39-86) and FT: 83.8% in 21 games he played so far. He is currently a member of the Latvian senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to an international center Anzejs Pasecniks (216-95, college: VEF skola, currently plays in Spain). Pasecniks could not help Gran Canaria (18-10) in their last game on Friday. Despite his good performance Gran Canaria was defeated 95-90 on the road by the higher-ranked Baskonia (#4). Pasecniks scored 10 points. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. This season Pasecniks averages: 7.6ppg, 3.2rpg, 2FGP: 64.8%(79-122), 3FGP: 63.6% and FT: 60.3%. He is in the roster of the Latvian senior national team.

   #3. The Latvian player who performed third best last week abroad was an international shooting guard Dairis Bertans (194-89, currently plays in Euroleague). Bertans was not able to help Darussafaka in their game against Real Madrid (23-7) in the Euroleague. He recorded 7 points and added 3 assists in 15 minutes. Darussafaka lost 75-83 in Madrid to the leading Real. This year Bertans' overall stats are: 6.7ppg, 1.4apg, 2FGP: 46.2%, 3FGP: 50.8%(30-59) and FT: 87.8% in 29 games. He is also a member of the Latvian senior national team.

   #4. Swingman Zanis Peiners (203-90, currently plays in Greece) was not able to secure a victory for PAOK (14-12) in their game against Panathinaikos (14-8) in the Greek A1. Peiners was the second best scorer with 9 points. But PAOK was crushed 102-58 in Athens by the higher-ranked Panathinaikos (#3). His team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And now that game is quite important. It's Peiners' first season with the team. This year Peiners has relatively solid stats: 11.0ppg, 3.4rpg and 1.5apg. He is also Latvian national team player.

Former U20 international small forward Ivars Rihards Zvigurs (198-95, currently plays in Estonia) couldn't help Valga (12-20) in their game against Rapla (20-12) in the Estonian Alexela KML, despite his very good performance last Monday. Zvigurs was the top scorer with 26 points. He also added 8 rebounds and dished 4 assists in 32 minutes. But Valga lost 85-94 on the opponent's court to the second-ranked Rapla. Zvigurs has reliable stats this year: 14.8ppg, 5.8rpg, 2.0apg and 1.5spg in 30 games. He used to play for the Latvian U20 national team two years ago.

Power forward Rolands Freimanis (208-88, agency: Alti Sport, currently plays in Turkey) contributed to a Usak Sportlif's victory against one of league's weakest teams Balikesir (6-20) 88-80 in the Turkish BSL on Saturday night. Freimanis scored 7 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Muratbey Usak Sportlif Basketbol (8-18) is placed 13th in the BSL. They ended the series of three consecutive loses. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be important. Freimanis' stats this season are: 12.3ppg and 4.9rpg. He is an international player who is currently on the senior Latvian National Team roster.

   #7. International forward Davis Bertans (208-92, currently plays in NBA) couldn't help the San Antonio Spurs (61-21) in their game against the Utah Jazz (51-31) in the NBA. Bertans scored 7 points in only 12 minutes. The San Antonio Spurs (61-21) lost 97-101 in Salt Lake City to the Utah Jazz. It was Spurs' third consecutive loss in a row. There are only two games left until the end of the NBA Regular Season. This year Bertans' total stats are: 4.6ppg and 1.5rpg in 67 games. He is also Latvian national team player.

   #8. Power forward Ojars Silins (203-93, currently plays in Germany) couldn't help Telekom Baskets (17-12) in their game against Bayern Muenchen (26-3) in the German BBL. Silins scored 5 points. Telekom Baskets was defeated 84-72 in Muenchen by the higher-ranked Bayern (#3). There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. Silins has averaged so far 8.2ppg and 2.4rpg. He plays currently for the Latvian national team.

International power forward Rolands Smits (207-95, currently plays in Spain) couldn't help one of league's weakest teams Baloncesto Fuenlabrada (11-16) in their game against UCAM Murcia (11-16) in the Spanish Liga Endesa. Smits scored 5 points in 19 minutes. Baloncesto Fuenlabrada was crushed 99-62 in Murcia by the higher-ranked (#11) UCAM. Smits has averaged so far 7.8ppg and 3.6rpg in 27 games. He is also in the roster of the Latvian national team.

   #10. Guard Kristaps Kanbergs (189-88, currently plays in Estonia) is a teammate of previously mentioned Ivars Rihards Zvigurs. But that was another game of his team in Estonian Alexela KML which we would like to mention. Kanbergs couldn't help Valga (12-20) in their game against Rapla (20-12). Despite his good performance in Thursday night's game He was the top scorer with 12 points. Kanbergs also added 5 rebounds. Kanbergs has averaged so far 8.4ppg, 3.7rpg, 2.1apg and 1.1spg. He is a former U20 international player as nine years ago he still played for the Latvian national team.

   #11. Former international forward Ernests Kalve (200-87, agency: HMS, currently plays in Romania) couldn't help Targu Mures in their game against CSU Sibiu in the Romanian Liga Nationala, despite his good performance last Wednesday. Kalve recorded 12 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 28 minutes. But his team lost 66-76. Kalve's stats this year are: 11.2ppg and 4.8rpg in 26 games. He used to play for the Latvian national team seven years ago.

   #12. International guard Davis Lejasmeiers (192-91, currently plays in Sweden) couldn't help one of league's weakest teams Sodertalje Kings in their game against Norrkoping Dolphins in the Swedish Basketligan. Despite his very good performance on Thursday night Lejasmeiers was the second best scorer with 16 points. Lejasmeiers averaged so far 11.2ppg, 2.8rpg and 4.3apg. He is also in the roster of the Latvian national team.

   #13. Former U20 international guard Sandis Silavs (194-88, currently plays in Estonia) is a teammate of previously mentioned Ivars Rihards Zvigurs and both played together in the last Estonian Alexela KML game. Silavs couldn't help Valga in their game against Rapla, despite his good performance in Monday night's game. He scored 10 points in 22 minutes. But his team lost 85-94. Silavs has averaged so far 9.8ppg, 2.8rpg and 2.9apg in 29 games. He used to play for the Latvian U20 national team nine years ago.

   #14. Former international small forward Rihards Kuksiks (197-88, also represented by HMS, college: Arizona St., currently plays in France) couldn't help Nantes in their game against Denain Voltaire in the French ProB (second division). Kuksiks recorded 7 points. His team was defeated 65-55. Kuksiks has averaged so far 9.4ppg and 3.0rpg. He used to play for the Latvian national team back in 2013.

   #15. U20 international center Klavs Cavars (205-96, currently plays in Turkey) couldn't help Pertevniyal in their game against Samsun in the Turkish TBL (second division). Cavars cannot count Saturday's game as one of the best ones. He scored only 2 points in 14 minutes. His team was badly defeated by 18 points 85-67. Cavars has averaged so far 4.3ppg and 2.6rpg in 11 games. He is also in the roster of the Latvian U20 national team.

This week's number one is an international center Anzejs Pasecniks (216-95). Baskonia Vitoria Gasteiz (Liga Endesa) is close to sign 25-year old Latvian international small forward Janis Timma (201-102kg-92) who currently plays forZenit Saint Petersburg in Russia. In 20 VTB games he recorded 13.6ppg, 4.0rpg, 2.6apg and 1.3spg this season. Great year indeed as he was voted to VTB United League All-Star Game. Liepaja/Triobet - Valmiera 85-80 Liepaja/Triobet beat Valmiera to even the series at 1-1. Valmiera trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 22-16 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 80-85 at the end of the game.
