Round 3 means everything may happen in LKL as the season just started.

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Juventus (1-1) in Utena on Tuesday night. Hosts were defeated by Zalgiris (2-0) 71-53. It was a key game for the top position in the league as both teams had the same 1-0 record before this meeting. The game was mostly controlled by Zalgiris. Juventus managed to win second period 16-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Juventus 39-25 including 28 on the defensive glass. 29 personal fouls committed by Juventus helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was international center Ksistof Lavrinovic (210-79) who scored 17 points. International forward Mindaugas Kuzminskas (205-89) chipped in 10 points and 5 rebounds. Zalgiris' coach Joan Plaza used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Darrick Leonard (190-84, college: Aurora) who recorded 13 points. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Lietuvos rytas. Juventus will play on the road against LSU-Baltai in Kaunas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
We should mention about the upset which took place in Klaipeda, where Lietkabelis (0-2) lost to Neptunas (1-2) in a road game 78-84. It was a good game for guard Martynas Mazeika (191-85, agency: Interperformances) who led his team to a victory with 19 points. Laurynas Mikalauskas contributed with 12 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. point guard Karolis Babkauskas (186-91) answered with 16 points for Lietkabelis. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
