   #1. This week's number one is an international center Antanas Kavaliauskas (207-84, agency: Interperformances, college: Texas A&M, currently plays in Eurocup). He was the major contributor in a VEF Riga's victory against the closely-ranked Artland Dragons (0-1) 82-72 in the Eurocup in Wednesday night's game. Kavaliauskas recorded 18 points in 20 minutes on the court. It was his first game for VEF Riga this season. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. His team is placed first in the Eurocup. Kavaliauskas is currently a member of the Lithuanian senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to an international center Jonas Valanciunas (211-92, currently plays in NBA), who plays in the NBA. He could not help the Toronto Raptors (1-4) in their last game on Tuesday. Despite Valanciunas' very good performance the Toronto Raptors were badly defeated 108-88 on the road by the Oklahoma City Thunder. He was the top scorer with 18 points. Valanciunas also added 6 rebounds. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. It's Valanciunas' first year with the team. He has relatively good stats this season: 8.0ppg, 5.0rpg, 2FGP: 43.6%. Valanciunas is in the roster of the Lithuanian senior national team.

   #3. The Lithuanian player who performed third best last week abroad was an international point guard Mantas Kalnietis (195-86, also represented by Interperformances, currently plays in Eurocup). He led his Russian team Lokomotiv to a 3-point victory over the closely-ranked BC Donetsk (0-1) 78-75 in the Eurocup on Wednesday night. Kalnietis was MVP of the game. He recorded 17 points and added 8 assists in 38 minutes. It was his first game for Lokomotiv this season. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. His team is placed second in the Eurocup. Kalnietis is ranked second on the list of the best passers in the league with 8 assists. He is also a member of the Lithuanian senior national team.

   #4. Guard Martynas Gecevicius (193-88, currently plays in Greece) led Olympiacos to an easy victory against the sixth-ranked KAOD (2-2) crushing them 103-67 in the Greek A1 in Sunday night's game. Gecevicius recorded 11 points and added 3 passes. Olympiacos S.F.P. Pireus (4-0) is placed first in the A1. So far his team won all four games in the Regular Season. But the season just started, so everything may happen. This year Gecevicius averages: 8.7ppg, 1.3rpg and 1.7apg. He used to play for the Lithuanian national team last year.

International shooting guard Martynas Pocius (196-86, another player represented by Interperformances, college: Duke, currently plays in Spain) contributed to an easy victory against the 13th-ranked UCAM Murcia (2-4) 79-64 in the Spanish ACB last Sunday. Pocius scored 8 points in 16 minutes. Real Madrid (6-0) is placed first in the ACB. So far his team won all six games in the Regular Season. But the season is still in it's first stage and everything can happen. This year Pocius' overall stats are: 6.2ppg and 1.5rpg in the six games he played so far. He plays currently for the Lithuanian national team.

   #6. Swingman Jonas Maciulis (199-85, currently plays in Euroleague), who plays in Greece was not able to help Panathinaikos (2-2) in their last game on Thursday. Despite Maciulis' good performance the fourth-placed Panathinaikos was defeated 73-64 in Istanbul by the second-ranked Fenerbahce Ulker in the group A of Euroleague. He recorded a double-double by scoring 14 points and getting 10 rebounds. It's Maciulis' first season with the team. This year Maciulis has relatively solid stats: 10.8ppg, 4.8rpg and 1.8apg. He is an international player who is currently on the senior Lithuanian National Team roster.

   #7. International small forward Simas Jasaitis (202-82, currently plays in Eurocup) is a teammate of previously mentioned Mantas Kalnietis and both played together in the last Eurocup game. Jasaitis led his Russian team Lokomotiv to a 3-point victory against the closely-ranked BC Donetsk (0-1) 78-75. He recorded 13 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 25 minutes. It was his first game for Lokomotiv this season. Jasaitis is also Lithuanian national team player.

   #8. Forward Donatas Zavackas (203-80, college: Pittsburgh, currently plays in Latvia) is a teammate of previously mentioned Antanas Kavaliauskas. But that was another game of his team in Latvian LBL which we would like to mention. Zavackas contributed to an easy victory against the ninth-ranked Jekabpils (2-5) crushing them 84-59. He recorded 9 points. VEF Riga (5-0) is placed first in the LBL. So far his team won all five games in the Regular Season. Zavackas has reliable stats this season: 11.6ppg, 5.2rpg and 2.4apg. He used to play for the Lithuanian U20 national team back in 2000.

Michailis Anisimovas

   #9. Former University international center Michailis Anisimovas (214-84, currently plays in Ukraine) contributed to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Azovmash (8-4) crushing them 90-70 in the Ukrainian Superleague last Friday. Anisimovas scored 10 points, grabbed 8 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 23 minutes. Budivelnyk Kyiv (8-3) is placed third in the Superleague. Anisimovas is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fourth year in Budivelnyk's roster. His stats this season are: 10.3ppg, 5.5rpg and 1.8apg in the 11 games. Anisimovas used to play for the Lithuanian university national team five years ago.

   #10. Point guard Ernestas Ezerskis (187-87, currently plays in Latvia), who plays in the Latvian LBL was not able to secure a victory for Liepaja (3-3) in their last game on Wednesday. Despite his good performance Liepaja was edged 81-78 at home by the higher-ranked Jelgava (#5). Ezerskis was the top scorer with 14 points. He also added 6 boards, handed out 8 passes and blocked 2 shots. Ezerskis is ranked first on the list of the best passers in the league and also on the list of most steals (second place). His total stats this season are: 10.0ppg, 2.8rpg, 5.8apg and 2.2spg. Ezerskis is university international player as one years ago he still played for the Lithuanian national team.

   #11. Former international power forward Tautvydas Lydeka (208-83, currently plays in EuroChallenge) managed to help Krasnie Krilya Samara in a victory against the fourth-ranked Keravnos 79-74 in the EuroChallenge in Wednesday night's game. He recorded only 4 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 13 minutes. It was his first game for Krasnie Krilya this season. Lydeka used to play for the Lithuanian national team six years ago.

   #12. Former U21 international power forward Valdas Dabkus (204-84, currently plays in Poland) contributed to a Energa Czarni's victory against the tenth-ranked Siarka Jezioro 85-73 in the Polish TBL last Saturday. He scored 8 points, had 8 rebounds and dished 3 assists. Dabkus' total stats this season are: 9.5ppg, 6.8rpg and 1.3apg. He used to play for the Lithuanian U21 national team back in 2003.

   #13. Former international forward Dainius Salenga (197-77, currently plays in Ukraine) is a teammate of previously mentioned Michailis Anisimovas and both played together in the last Ukrainian Superleague game. Salenga led Budivelnyk to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Azovmash crushing them 90-70. He scored 12 points in 26 minutes. This year Salenga's total stats are: 9.5ppg, 2.8rpg, 1.9apg and 1.4spg in the 11 games. He used to play for the Lithuanian national team seven years ago.

   #14. Former University international center Egidijus Dimsa (205-85, currently plays in EuroChallenge) couldn't help TU/Rock in their game against Khimik in the EuroChallenge. He recorded 8 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 32 minutes. It was his first game for TU/Rock this season. His team was edged 77-76. Dimsa used to play for the Lithuanian university national team back in 2009.

   #15. International point guard Sarunas Jasikevicius (192-76, college: Maryland, currently plays in Euroleague) helped his Spanish team Regal FC Barcelona win their game against the sixth-ranked Partizan 85-82 in the Euroleague on Thursday night. He recorded only 4 points. This season Jasikevicius averages just 2.4ppg. He is also in the roster of the Lithuanian national team.


The list of other players, who all have Lithuanian passport but never been selected to any of Lithuanian national teams:

   #1. Experienced Christopher Young (206-F/C-79, college: Michigan, currently plays in EuroChallenge) led his Belgian team Okapi Aalstar to a victory against the fourth-ranked Belfius Mons-Hainaut (0-1) 84-77 in the EuroChallenge last Tuesday. He recorded 12 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. It was his first game for Okapi Aalstar this season. His team is placed second in group E. Young is a naturalized American. Strangely he has never played in Lithuania.

   #2. Benas Veikalas (192-G-83, college: Metro St., currently plays in EuroChallenge) led his German team Telekom Baskets to a victory over the fourth-ranked Antwerp Giants (0-1) 81-72 in the EuroChallenge on Tuesday night. Veikalas was the best player in that game. He recorded 18 points in 21 minutes. It was his first game for Telekom Baskets this season. His team is placed first in group H.

   #3. Vytautas Kamarunas (179-PG-89, currently plays in Belarus) was the main contributor in Svisloch's victory against the closely-ranked Impuls BGUIR (1-4) 93-75 in the Belarusian Premier League in Tuesday night's game. Kamarunas was the best player in that game. He scored 32 points (!!!), made 8 passes and 7 steals. BK Svisloch Osipovichi (1-4) is placed fifth in the Premier League. It was his team's first victory after four consecutive loses. But there are still lots of games to play and it's a long way to go. Kamarunas is currently third on the league's list of top scorers and also on the list of best passers (first place). He has individually a very good season with high stats. Kamarunas averages: 19.4ppg, 4.6rpg, 6.2apg and 3.4spg.

   #4. Arturas Masiulis (210-C-80, currently plays in United Kingdom), who plays in the British BBL could not help Worcester Wolves (5-5) in their last game. Despite Masiulis' good performance Worcester Wolves lost 79-85 on the road to the lower-ranked (#8) Glasgow Rocks. He had a double-double by scoring 12 points and getting the same number of rebounds in 30 minutes. Masiulis' stats this year are: 10.8ppg, 6.7rpg and 1.7apg in the nine games he played so far.

   #5. Zygimantas Jonusas (200-F-82, currently plays in Italy) was not able to help Juvecaserta (2-4) in their game against Cimberio Varese (6-0) in the Italian SerieA. He scored 8 points in 30 minutes. Juvecaserta was badly defeated 73-56 in Varese by the leading Cimberio. Jonusas has averaged so far 9.2ppg, 3.8rpg and 1.2apg in the five games.

   #6. Mantas Griskenas (200-F-85, college: Wichita St., currently plays in Romania), who plays in the Romanian Division A was not able to secure a victory for CSU Sibiu (2-4) in their last game. Despite his good performance CSU Sibiu lost 70-84 on the opponent's court to the higher-ranked (#8) Craiova. Griskenas scored 12 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 20 minutes. Griskenas' stats this year are: 12.2ppg, 6.0rpg and 1.2apg in the six games.

   #7. Edgaras Kvedaravicius (191-G-92, currently plays in Denmark) contributed to a 3-point Horsens IC's victory against the eighth-ranked Randers 89-86 in the Danish Ligaen in Wednesday night's game. He scored 8 points. It was his first game for Horsens IC this season.

   #8. Donatas Visockis (208-C-86, college: Portland St., currently plays in Cyprus) managed to help Papa Johns Omonia Nicosia in a victory against the closely-ranked AEL 67-59 in the Cypriot Division A last Sunday. Visockis scored only 2 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 18 minutes. Visockis has averaged so far 3.0ppg, 6.5rpg and 1.5apg in the two games.

   #9. Nerijus Brasas (200-F-85, currently plays in Denmark) couldn't help Naestved in their game against SISU in the Danish Ligaen. He scored 7 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 25 minutes. His team lost 59-65. Brasas has averaged so far 7.7ppg and 4.7rpg in the 10 games.

   #10. Tomas Janusauskas (213-C-85, agency: Kotnik Sports Agency, currently plays in United Kingdom) contributed to a Reading Rockets' victory against the 12th-ranked Derby Trailblazers 68-58 in the British EBL D1 (second division) in Sunday night's game. He was the best player in that game. Janusauskas recorded a double-double by scoring 16 points and getting 11 rebounds. Janusauskas is currently sixth on the league's list of best rebounders and also on the list of best blockers (second place). This season he has very high stats. Janusauskas averages: 16.5ppg, 8.5rpg and 1.5bpg.

Forward Arturas Valeika (207-F-85) had a very impressive game in the last round for Vytautas, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 35. The 31-year old player was the main contributor (22 points, six rebounds and eight assists) to his team's victory, helping them to beat Siauliai (#10, 6-29) 100-94. LKL Round 35: Lietuvos rytas lose to Zalgiris in the game between Top 4 teams - 2 days ago
There will be only one (last) round of the Regular Season in LKL. The game between Top Four teams took place in Kaunas. First ranked host Zalgiris (32-3) smashed second-ranked Lietuvos rytas (25-10) 90-60. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Lietuvos rytas. The game without a history.
