There was no lack of interesting games this round. The round ended with change at the leadership position and favorites losing the games.

There was a change at the NKL leadership position after last games. Round 9 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Statyba (7-2). They were defeated by fourth ranked Mazeikiai (7-2) 72-63 on Friday night. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Statyba. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Forward Osvaldas Macernis (196-82) stepped up and scored 18 points and 4 blocks for the winners and guard Modestas Sidlauskas (193-85) chipped in 12 points and 5 rebounds. The best for the losing side was guard Martynas Paliukenas (195-93) with 15 points and 4 assists (perfect from the field making all six shots). Statyba's coach Gintautas Regina rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Mazeikiai have a solid series of three victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Suduva-Mantinga and Statyba. Statyba will play next round against Triobet trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Mazeikiai will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Zalgiris-Sabonio in Kaunas.
The game had a very big importance for third-ranked Suduva-Mantinga as it allowed them to take a leadership position after previous leader's (Statyba) loss. Suduva-Mantinga defeated 14th ranked Nafta Universitetas in Marijampole 100-83. Guard Zilvinas Kuklierius (180-85) nailed 19 points and 7 assists for the winning side and Audrius Mineikis accounted for 17 points and 4 assists. Suduva-Mantinga's coach Gintautas Zibuda allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Forward Dainius Zvinklys (202-90) came up with 18 points and 6 rebounds for Nafta Universitetas in the defeat. Suduva-Mantinga have a solid series of four victories in a row. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Mazeikiai and Statyba. Nafta Universitetas lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the fifteenth place with seven games lost. They share the position with Silute. Nafta Universitetas will play next round against Delikatesas trying to get back on the winning streak. Suduva-Mantinga will try to continue on its current victory against eleventh ranked S.Marciulionio at Vilnius.
Quite upsetting was Delikatesas' (#6) home defeat in a game versus seventh ranked Zalgiris-Sabonio 85-79. The best player for the winners was Marius Grigonis who scored 16 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Zalgiris-Sabonio's coach Tomas Masiulis used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Aivaras Kvedaravicius who recorded 21 points and 6 assists. Zalgiris-Sabonio (6-3) moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Olimpas. Delikatesas at the other side dropped to the eighth position with four games lost. They share it with Triobet and Zanavykas. Zalgiris-Sabonio will meet at home league's second-placed Mazeikiai in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Delikatesas will play against Nafta Universitetas (#15) in Klaipeda and hope to secure a win.
Very important is a home loss of second ranked Meresta (7-3) against ninth ranked Olimpas (6-3) on Friday night. Host Meresta was defeated by Olimpas in a tough game in Pakruojis 65-74. It was a good game for Ignas Razutis who led his team to a victory with 14 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Olimpas have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Zalgiris-Sabonio. Meresta at the other side dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. Olimpas' next round opponent will be Perlas-MRU (#12) in Vilnius and are hoping to win another game. Meresta will play on the road against Dzukija (#7) in Alytus.
Bottom-ranked Silute managed to get a second victory, breaking the series of six consecutive loses on Friday night. This time they won against sixteenth-ranked Birstono 82-76. Arturas Kaubrys stepped up with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Silute (2-7) moved-up to fifteenth place, which they share with Nafta Universitetas. Birstono lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the seventeenth position with eight games lost. Silute will face bottom-ranked Gargzdai-Bremena (#18) on the road in the next round.
