Gaidamavicius
Guard Tomas Gaidamavicius (191-G-82) had a great game in the last round for Meresta, receiving a Eurobasket.com NKL Player of the Week award for round 9.
The 30-year old player recorded a triple-double of 18 points addeding also 10 rebounds and 12 assists, while his team beat Ezerunas-Karys (#13, 4-6) 75-70. Thanks to this victory Meresta moved-up to the 4th position in the Lithuanian NKL. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Meresta will need more victories to improve their 7-3 record. In the team's last game Gaidamavicius had a remarkable 62.5% from 2-point range. He turned to be Meresta's top player in his first season with the team. Tomas Gaidamavicius averages this season 17.4ppg and 8.4apg.

The second best player in last round's games was 29-year old Arturas Kaubrys (205-C-83) of Silute. Kaubrys had a very good evening with a double-double of 26 points and 12 rebounds. It was enough for Silute to edge slightly lower-ranked Birstono (#17, 2-8) 82-76. The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. But Silute managed to improve slightly their position in standings taking 16th place. 7 lost games are too many comparing to just two victories Silute managed to get this year. Kaubrys is well-known at Silute and is a proven leader in his second season with the team.

Third on the list of top players last round was guard Edgaras Stanionis (193-G-88) of Zanavykas (#10). Stanionis got into 30-points club by scoring 39 points in the last round. He was a key player of Zanavykas, leading his team to a 104-90 easy win against slightly lower-ranked Perlas-MRU (#12, 4-5). Zanavykas needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 5 victories and 4 lost games. Stanionis has a great season in Lithuania. After only 9 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 24.0ppg (best scorer).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Rytis Rauktys (187-G-84) of Radviliskis - 21 points and 7 rebounds
5. Edgaras Stanionis (193-G-88) of Zanavykas - 28 points and 6 rebounds
6. Antanas Udras (202-F-92) of Perlas-MRU - 13 points, 11 rebounds and 3 assists
7. Dainius Zvinklys (202-F-90) of Nafta Universitetas - 18 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists
8. Osvaldas Macernis (196-F-82) of Mazeikiai - 18 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists
9. Antanas Udras (202-F-92) of Perlas-MRU - 15 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists
10. Raimundas Ambrulaitis (199-F-82) of Ezerunas-Karys - 12 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

NKL Round 4 (Second Stage): Suduva-Mantinga edges Vytis by two points - 3 hours ago
Seventh-ranked Vytis (14-16) made lots of trouble for first ranked Suduva-Mantinga (24-5) in Marijampole on Saturday. Suduva-Mantinga managed to secure only two-point victory 74-72. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 24-15. But Vytis won third quarter 21-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Suduva-Mantinga forced 21 Vytis turnovers. Strangely Vytis outrebounded Suduva-Mantinga 40...   [read more]
