There were many interesting games last round. The round ended with change at the leadership position, favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin.
Round 10 in NKL means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Vilnius where host S.Marciulionio (5-5) beat league's leader Suduva-Mantinga (7-3) 72-64 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Suduva-Mantinga. S.Marciulionio dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Suduva-Mantinga's 28. S.Marciulionio forced 25 Suduva-Mantinga turnovers. Forward Edgaras Zinevicius (202-93) fired a double-double by scoring 11 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Guard Marius Pociukonis (190-82) chipped in 19 points. S.Marciulionio's coach Gintaras Kruckauskas used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Audrius Mineikis (201-77) produced 18 points and 8 rebounds for lost side. S.Marciulionio moved-up to ninth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Suduva-Mantinga at the other side dropped to the third position with three games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Mazeikiai. Suduva-Mantinga will play next round against strong Statyba trying to make it back to the top of the standings. S.Marciulionio will try to continue on its current victory against fourteenth ranked Nafta Universitetas in Klaipeda. Important game to mention about took place in Kaunas. Second ranked Mazeikiai (8-2) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging 5th ranked Zalgiris-Sabonio (6-4) 75-74 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Zalgiris-Sabonio. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Osvaldas Macernis (196-82) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 6 rebounds. Andrius Mazutis contributed with 12 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Swingman Paulius Sorokas (197-92) replied with 17 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for Zalgiris-Sabonio. Zalgiris-Sabonio's coach Tomas Masiulis tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Mazeikiai have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Statyba. Zalgiris-Sabonio at the other side dropped to the sixth place with four games lost. They share the position with Zanavykas and Olimpas. Mazeikiai will play against Dzukija (#5) in Alytus in the next round. Zalgiris-Sabonio will play on the road against Radviliskis and hopes to get back on the winning track. An interesting game was played in Alytus where host Dzukija (#7) won against one of their biggest challengers Meresta with 17-point difference 88-71 on Saturday evening. Bryan Harrison scored 23 points, 9 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals to lead the charge for the winners. Dzukija's coach Mindaugas Jarusevicius allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side Ignas Vaitkus responded with 21 points. Dzukija (6-3) moved-up to fifth place. Loser Meresta keeps the fourth position with four games lost. Dzukija will meet league's leader Mazeikiai on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Meresta will play against Silute and hope to secure a win. A very interesting game took place in . It ended with only two-point home defeat of higher ranked Olimpas (6-4) to twelfth ranked Perlas-MRU (5-5) 82-80 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Olimpas. Zydrunas Stankus notched 20 points and 5 assists to lead the effort. Perlas-MRU moved-up to ninth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted Olimpas keeps the sixth position with four games lost. Perlas-MRU's next round opponent will be Birstono (#17) and are hoping to win another game. Important game to mention about took place in . Seventeenth ranked Birstono (3-8) saved a 2-point victory at home edging 14th ranked Radviliskis (3-7) 70-68 on Saturday evening. Paulius Kleiza fired 18 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Birstono maintains seventeenth position with 3-8 record. Loser Radviliskis keeps the fourteenth place with seven games lost. Birstono will face higher ranked Perlas-MRU (#12) in Vilnius in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
Rest of the games of round 10 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are: Delikatesas was defeated by Nafta Universitetas in Klaipeda 58-54. Zanavykas beat Ezerunas-Karys at home 65-48. Silute won against Gargzdai on the opponent's court 82-67. Statyba managed to outperform Triobet in a home game 96-88. The best stats of 10th round was 27 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals by Martynas Linkevicius of Triobet.
There was an upset in Klaipeda where higher ranked Delikatesas (5-5) was defeated by fifteenth ranked Nafta Universitetas (3-7) 58-54 on Saturday. Delikatesas was trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 21-14 charge of Nafta Universitetas, which allowed them to win the game. Forward Viktoras Chodosovskis (200-89) fired 16 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Guard Daniel Jokubaitis (193-94) chipped in 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Aivaras Kvedaravicius (184-88) produced 13 points and 5 rebounds and swingman Zilvinas Petraitis (194-88) added 15 points respectively for lost side. Nafta Universitetas moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with Silute and Radviliskis. Loser Delikatesas dropped to the ninth position with five games lost.
