There was no lack of excitement in the last round games. The round ended with favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin.

The most exciting game of round 12 in the NKL took place in Kaunas. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 6th ranked Zalgiris-Sabonio (7-5) to first ranked Suduva-Mantinga (9-3) 87-84 on Saturday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Zalgiris-Sabonio won third quarter 25-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Suduva-Mantinga won last quarter 21-20. They made 25-of-33 free shots (75.8 percent) during the game. 25 personal fouls committed by Zalgiris-Sabonio helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Zilvinas Kuklierius (180-85) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and 4 assists and forward Audrius Mineikis (201-77) who added 16 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was forward Marius Grigonis (198-94) with 20 points and 7 rebounds. Suduva-Mantinga maintains first position with 9-3 record, which they share with Statyba and Mazeikiai. Zalgiris-Sabonio at the other side keeps the sixth place with five games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Suduva-Mantinga is looking forward to face Dzukija (#5) in Alytus in the next round. Zalgiris-Sabonio will play on the road against Nafta Universitetas in Klaipeda and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
The game in Jonava was also worth to mention about. Fifth ranked Dzukija (8-3) played at the court of 8th ranked Triobet (6-6). Dzukija managed to secure a 9-point victory 99-90. The winners were led by forward Povilas Sakinis (199-80) who scored that evening 29 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and Bryan Harrison supported him with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 13 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Even 31 points and 9 rebounds by forward Martynas Linkevicius (197-85) did not help to save the game for Triobet. Dzukija have a solid three-game winning streak. Newly promoted Dzukija maintains fifth position with 8-3 record. Triobet at the other side dropped to the tenth place with six games lost. They share the position with Perlas-MRU. Dzukija will play against league's leader Suduva-Mantinga in Marijampole in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Triobet will play at home against Silute (#15) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
The game in supposed to be also quite interesting. Second ranked Mazeikiai (9-3) played at the court of 7th ranked Zanavykas (7-5). Mazeikiai smashed Zanavykas 80-56 on Saturday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Zanavykas. The best player for the winners was Vytautas Pikalavicius who scored 20 points (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). At the other side the best for losing team was Edgaras Stanionis who recorded 19 points. Mazeikiai keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Suduva-Mantinga and Statyba. Newly promoted Zanavykas dropped to the sixth place with five games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Mazeikiai will meet at home bottom-ranked Gargzdai-Bremena (#18) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Zanavykas will play against Radviliskis (#16) and hope to secure a win.
A very interesting game took place in Klaipeda. It ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 15th ranked Radviliskis (3-9) to fourteenth ranked Nafta Universitetas (4-8) 75-74 on Saturday evening. It was a good game for Donatas Norkus who saved his team from a defeat with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Nafta Universitetas maintains fourteenth position with 4-8 record, which they share with Silute. Radviliskis lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the sixteenth place with nine games lost. Nafta Universitetas' next round opponent will be higher ranked Zalgiris-Sabonio (#6) in Kaunas and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Radviliskis will play against Zanavykas (#9).
Twelfth-ranked Delikatesas (5-7) gave a tough game to third ranked Statyba (9-3) in Vilnius on Saturday. Statyba managed to secure only two-point victory 68-66. However their fans expected much easier game. Worth to mention a great performance of Darius Tarvydas who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 8 rebounds. Statyba keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Suduva-Mantinga and Mazeikiai. Delikatesas lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the twelfth place with seven games lost. Statyba's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Vilnius to the arena S.Marciulionio.

There were no shocking results in the other games in round 12: Perlas-MRU lost to Silute on the opponent's court 69-75. Olimpas managed to outperform Ezerunas-Karys in a home game 81-65. Meresta managed to beat Gargzdai on the road 71-64. Birstono was defeated by S.Marciulionio on its own court 75-84.



Triobet - Dzukija 90-99

The game in Jonava was also worth to mention about. Fifth ranked Dzukija (8-3) played at the court of 8th ranked Triobet (6-6). Dzukija managed to secure a 9-point victory 99-90. It looked good early as Triobet took an 6-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Dzukija had a 27-17 second period charge getting the lead and Triobet was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 90-99. Dzukija made 18-of-23 charity shots (78.3 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three nailing 13 long-distance shots on high 65.0 percentage. Dzukija players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. The winners were led by forward Povilas Sakinis (199-80) who scored that evening 29 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and American guard Bryan Harrison (188-84, college: Georgia Coll., agency: Global Sports Plaza) supported him with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 13 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Even 31 points and 9 rebounds by forward Martynas Linkevicius (197-85) did not help to save the game for Triobet. Forward Tomas Milinskas (202-90) added 21 points and 10 rebounds. The game in supposed to be also quite interesting. Second ranked Mazeikiai (9-3) played at the court of 7th ranked Zanavykas (7-5). Mazeikiai smashed Zanavykas 80-56 on Saturday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Zanavykas. The game was mostly controlled by Mazeikiai. Zanavykas managed to win third quarter 14-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was swingman Vytautas Pikalavicius (196-90) who scored 20 points (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). Rokas Giedraitis (198-92) chipped in 19 points. Four Mazeikiai players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Edgaras Stanionis (193-88) who recorded 19 points and center Vilius Sumskis (213-84, agency: Interperformances) added 14 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Darius Tarvydas (200-91) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 8 rebounds and guard Martynas Paliukenas (195-93) who added 10 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. It was a good game for forward Donatas Norkus (196-90) who saved his team from a defeat with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Forward Viktoras Chodosovskis (200-89) contributed with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds for the winners.
