#1. This week's number one is an international guard Martynas Gecevicius (193-88, currently plays in Greece). He was the major contributor in Olympiacos' victory against the league outsider Kavala (0-6) crushing them 113-62 in the Greek A1 in Monday night's game.
Gecevicius scored 17 points in a mere 19 minutes on the court.
Olympiacos S.F.P. Pireus (6-0) is placed first in the A1.
So far his team won all six games in the Regular Season.
But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen.
This year Gecevicius averages: 9.2ppg, 1.4rpg, 1.4apg, 3FGP: 31.6% and FT: 87.5% in the five games he played so far.
He played for the Lithuanian senior national team one years ago.
#2. Second place goes to an international center Jonas Valanciunas (211-92, currently plays in NBA), who plays in the NBA. Valanciunas could not help the Toronto Raptors (3-9) in their last game on Wednesday. Despite his very good performance the Toronto Raptors were edged 98-97 on the road by the Charlotte Bobcats.
Valanciunas recorded a double-double by scoring 16 points and getting 10 rebounds.
But the season just started, so everything may happen.
Valanciunas has relatively good stats this year: 8.6ppg, 6.0rpg, 1.2apg and FT: 77.8%.
He is in the roster of the Lithuanian senior national team.
#3. The Lithuanian player who performed third best last week abroad was an international small forward Simas Jasaitis (202-82, currently plays in Eurocup). Jasaitis led his Russian team Lokomotiv to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Galatasaray (2-1) crushing them 91-66 in the Eurocup on Wednesday night.
He scored 16 points in 39 minutes.
It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Lokomotiv Kuban (3-0) is placed first in the Eurocup.
So far his team won all three games in the Regular Season.
There are only three games left until the end of the Eurocup Regular Season. So now every game will be critical.
This year Jasaitis has relatively solid stats: 14.3ppg, 3.3rpg, 2FGP: 69.2%, 3FGP: 46.7%(7-15) in the three games.
He is also a member of the Lithuanian senior national team.
#4. Shooting guard Martynas Pocius (196-86, agency: Interperformances, college: Duke, currently plays in Spain) contributed to a Real Madrid's victory against the league outsider Assignia Manresa (0-8) 97-84 in the Spanish ACB in Sunday night's game.
Pocius scored 6 points.
Real Madrid (8-0) is placed first in the ACB.
So far his team won all eight games in the Regular Season.
But the season is still in it's first stage and everything can happen.
Pocius' overall stats this season are: 7.6ppg and 1.9rpg.
He is also Lithuanian national team player.
#5. An experienced international power forward Darius Songaila (204-78, agency: Priority Sports, college: Wake Forest, currently plays in Eurocup) led his Ukrainian team BC Donetsk to an overtime victory over the closely-ranked Trefl Sopot (0-3) 92-87 in the Eurocup last Wednesday.
Songaila was MVP of the game. He scored 24 points, had 7 boards, passed 4 assists and added 3 steals in 30 minutes.
It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. BC Donetsk (1-2) is placed third in the Eurocup.
There are only three games left until the end of the Eurocup Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial.
Songaila has reliable stats this year: 13.7ppg, 5.3rpg and 2.7apg in the three games.
He plays currently for the Lithuanian national team.
#6. Swingman Jonas Maciulis (199-85, currently plays in Euroleague) led his Greek team Panathinaikos to a victory against the second-ranked Real Madrid (4-2) 79-68 in the Euroleague on Thursday night.
Maciulis scored 12 points.
Panathinaikos Athens (3-3) is placed fourth in group A.
There are only four games left until the end of the Euroleague Regular Season. So now every game will be important.
It's Maciulis' first season with the team.
His stats this year are: 11.0ppg, 4.3rpg, 1.7apg and 1.2spg.
Maciulis is an international player who is currently on the senior Lithuanian National Team roster.
#7. International small forward Linas Kleiza (203-85, college: Missouri, currently plays in NBA) is a teammate of previously mentioned Jonas Valanciunas. But that was another game of his team in NBA which we would like to mention.
Kleiza helped Toronto Raptors win their game against the Orlando Magic (4-7) 97-86.
He scored 12 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 26 minutes.
The Toronto Raptors have rather weak 3-9 record this season.
Kleiza averaged so far 8.1ppg and 3.3rpg in the seven games.
He is also Lithuanian national team player.
#8. Forward Donatas Zavackas (203-80, college: Pittsburgh, currently plays in VTB United League) helped his Latvian team VEF Riga edge the eighth-ranked CEZ Nymburk (2-4) 83-81 in the VTB United League last Sunday.
Zavackas scored 11 points and grabbed 8 rebounds.
VEF Riga (4-2) is placed third in group B.
But there are still lots of games to play and it's a long way to go.
Zavackas' overall stats this season are: 9.0ppg, 5.5rpg and 1.2apg.
He used to play for the Lithuanian U20 national team
back in 2000.
#9. International center Antanas Kavaliauskas (207-84, also represented by Interperformances, college: Texas A&M, currently plays in VTB United League) is a teammate of previously mentioned Donatas Zavackas and both played together in the last VTB United League game.
Kavaliauskas helped his Latvian team VEF Riga edge the eighth-ranked CEZ Nymburk (2-4) 83-81.
He scored 10 points, had 6 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 26 minutes.
Kavaliauskas averaged so far 10.8ppg, 5.8rpg and 1.2apg in the six games.
He is also in the roster of the Lithuanian national team.
#10. Guard Mantas Cesnauskis (191-81, currently plays in Poland), who plays in the Polish TBL was not able to help Stelmet ZG (5-3) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Cesnauskis' good performance Stelmet ZG was defeated 85-73 in Kolobrzeg by the lower-ranked Kotwica (#8).
He scored 13 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and dished 3 assists.

Former University international guard Vaidotas Peciukas (199-82, college: Hawaii, currently plays in Romania), who plays in the Romanian Division A was not able to secure a victory for Targu Mures (6-2) in their last game. Despite Peciukas' very good performance Targu Mures was badly defeated 93-75 at home by the higher-ranked (#4) CSM Bucuresti.
He was the top scorer with 25 points in 37 minutes.
Peciukas averaged so far 13.3ppg, 2.6rpg and 1.6apg in the eight games.
He used to play for the Lithuanian university national team

#12. Former U21 international power forward Valdas Dabkus (204-84, currently plays in Poland) helped Energa Czarni win their game against the closely-ranked Trefl Sopot 78-72 in the Polish TBL last Sunday.
Dabkus scored 9 points, grabbed 7 rebounds and made 2 blocks.
His overall stats this season are: 8.8ppg, 6.3rpg and 1.2spg.
Dabkus used to play for the Lithuanian U21 national team
back in 2003.
#13. Former U20 international point guard Evaldas Zabas (188-88, currently plays in Czech Republic) helped BK Pardubice win their game against the league outsider BK Lions Hradec 79-61 in the Czech Republic NBL on Saturday night.
He scored 13 points, had 4 boards, dished 4 assists and stole 5 balls in 29 minutes.
Zabas belongs to league's top scorers and is ranked #6 with 17.8ppg.
This year his other stats are: 3.1rpg, 2.9apg and 1.3spg in the nine games.

#14. Former international power forward Tautvydas Lydeka (208-83, currently plays in EuroChallenge) managed to help Krasnie Krilya Samara to win against the third-ranked Joensuun Kataja 96-86 in the EuroChallenge in Tuesday night's game.
He scored only 3 points and grabbed 4 rebounds.
Lydeka's overall stats this season are: 3.0ppg and 3.3rpg.

#15. University international forward Osvaldas Matulionis (200-91, currently plays in Estonia), who plays in the Estonian KML couldn't help KK Parnu (2-5) in their last game. Despite Matulionis' very good performance KK Parnu was crushed 93-67 in Rakvere by the second-ranked BC Rakvere.
He was the top scorer with 24 points. Matulionis also added 6 rebounds in 31 minutes.
He averaged so far 12.5ppg, 3.5rpg, 2.2apg and 1.3spg in the six games.

Despite Veikalas' good performance Telekom Baskets was defeated 100-87 at home by the higher-ranked Eisbaeren Bremerhaven (#4).
He scored 13 points, had 5 rebounds and dished 3 assists.
Veikalas' overall stats this season are: 8.8ppg, 2.4rpg and 1.3apg.
#2. Experienced Christopher Young (206-F/C-79, college: Michigan, currently plays in Belgium) contributed to a Okapi Aalstar's victory against the closely-ranked Base Oostende (4-3) 95-89 in the Belgian Ethias League in Friday night's game.
He recorded 9 points, 5 rebounds and 2 blocks in 23 minutes.
It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Generali Okapi Aalstar (6-1) is placed first in the Ethias League.
It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row.
Young is ranked seventh on the list of the best rebounders in the league and also on the list of best blockers (fourth place).
This year his overall stats are: 6.4ppg, 6.4rpg and 1.3bpg in the seven games he played so far.
Young is a naturalized American.
Strangely he has never played in Lithuania.
#3.Zygimantas Jonusas (200-F-82, currently plays in Italy), who plays in the Italian SerieA was not able to help Juvecaserta (3-5) in their last game on Sunday. Despite his good performance Juvecaserta was badly defeated 86-66 on the road by the much higher-ranked Montepaschi Siena (#3).
Jonusas scored 10 points and grabbed 6 rebounds.
Jonusas' overall stats this season are: 9.1ppg, 4.3rpg and 1.4apg.
#4.Nik Stauskas (198-G-93, currently plays college basketball in the States) led Michigan to a victory against the University of Pittsburgh 67-62 in the NCAA last Wednesday.
He recorded 15 points and grabbed 5 rebounds (made all of his six free throws) in 33 minutes.
The University of Michigan has conference record this season.
This year Stauskas' overall stats are: 9.1ppg, 4.3rpg and 1.4apg in the seven games.
He has a dual citizenship: Canadian and Lithuanian.
Despite Stauskas' Lithuanian passport, he currently plays for the Canadian U19 national team and is not eligible to play for the Lithuanian team.
#5.Nerijus Brasas (200-F-85, currently plays in Denmark) was not able to secure a victory for Naestved (6-6) in their game against Bakken (11-1) in the Danish Ligaen, despite his good performance on Thursday night.
Brasas scored 12 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 31 minutes.
But Naestved lost in an overtime 83-87 in Aarhus to the second-ranked Bakken.
This year Brasas' overall stats are: 8.4ppg and 4.8rpg in the 12 games.
#6.Gintaras Leonavicius (194-G-83, agency: Players Group, currently plays in Spain) was the major contributor in a Leche Rio Breogan's victory against one of league's weakest teams Melilla Baloncesto 64-57 in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division) in Friday night's game.
He recorded 9 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists.
Leonavicius' overall stats this season are: 8.7ppg, 2.4rpg, 2.4apg and 1.1spg.
#7.Martynas Kuksta (203-C-89, currently plays in Sweden) led Hoganas to a 3-point victory over the third-ranked Helsingborg 78-75 in the Swedish Basketettan (second division) last Sunday.
He was the best player in that game. Kuksta scored 25 points and grabbed 8 rebounds.
Kuksta is ranked fourth on the list of the best blockers in the league.

#9.Mantas Griskenas (200-F-85, college: Wichita St., currently plays in Romania) couldn't help CSU Sibiu in their game against Timisoara in the Romanian Division A.

Griskenas averaged so far 12.5ppg and 6.3rpg.
#10.Edgaras Kvedaravicius (191-G-92, currently plays in Denmark) managed to help Horsens IC in a victory in overtime against the closely-ranked Horsholm 81-74 in the Danish Ligaen last Thursday.
He scored 5 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 15 minutes.

Kasiulevicius is a very experienced player. He has played also professionally in Poland, Denmark (Naestved), Lithuania (Lietkabelis, Vytautas and Palanga) and Kosovo (KB RTV 21 Prishtina). Kasiulevicius attended Trinity Valley CC until 2004 and it will be his 13th (hopefully lucky) (!!!) season in pro basketball.

He had the game-high 32 points adding two rebounds and seven assists for Lietuvos rytas in his team's victory, helping them to crush Nevezis (#7, 0-1) with 19-point margin 89-70. Second best performed player last round was Mindaugas Lukauskis (198-G-79) of Lietkabelis. He is former international guard in his first season at Lietkabelis. In the last game Lukauskis recorded impressive 13 points, 3 rebounds and 7 assists. It was enough for Lietkabelis to edge Zalgiris (0-1) by 4 points 90-86. His team has extremely good start of the season. They won their first game. However the season is at the beginning, so everything can happen.
Third place about best performers goes to forward Gytis Sirutavicius (195-F-83) of Juventus. Sirutavicius showcased his all-around game by recording 26 points, six rebounds and four assists in the last round. He was a key player of Juventus, leading his team to a 97-92 win against P.Zvaigzdes (#8, 0-1). Juventus has a very good start of the season. But there was just one game played, so it's too early to judge them at this stage. Sirutavicius also has a very good start of the season with very strong stats. The season just started for Sirutavicius as he played only first game. But it already looks like he can be team's leader.

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
