There were many interesting games last round. The round ended with loss of the undefeated team, derby games, favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin.

Top ranked Dzukija (11-5) recorded its fifth loss in Alytus on Saturday night. Hosts were edged by seventeenth ranked Radviliskis (4-12) 87-84. Radviliskis dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Dzukija's 44. 24 personal fouls committed by Dzukija helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Forward Vaidas Trepocka (200-80, agency: Court Side) fired 24 points for the winners. Power forward Erikas Kaupaitis (202-84, college: USC Upstate) chipped in 10 points and 14 rebounds. Guard Mindaugas Reminas (190-86) produced 24 points and 7 rebounds for lost side. Radviliskis moved-up to fifteenth place, which they share with Silute and Nafta Universitetas. Newly promoted Dzukija dropped to the second position with five games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Radviliskis is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Gargzdai-Bremena (#18) on the road in the next round. Dzukija will play against Nafta Universitetas (#15) in Klaipeda and is hoping to win this game.
Important game to mention about took place in Plunge. Sixth ranked Olimpas (11-5) saved a 3-point victory at home edging one of their biggest challengers Suduva-Mantinga (10-6) 74-71 on Saturday evening. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Ignas Razutis (185-87) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 5 steals (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Audrius Maneikis contributed with 21 points for the winners. Guard Zilvinas Kuklierius (180-85) replied with 18 points and 8 rebounds for Suduva-Mantinga. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Olimpas have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams. Suduva-Mantinga at the other side dropped to the sixth position with six games lost. They share it with Meresta and Zalgiris-Sabonio. Olimpas will play against S.Marciulionio (#10) in Vilnius in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Suduva-Mantinga will play on the road against Silute (#17) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
A very close game took place in Kaunas between Birstono and Zalgiris-Sabonio. Fourteenth ranked Birstono (5-11) got a very close home victory over higher ranked Zalgiris-Sabonio (10-6). Birstono managed to escape with a 2-point win 66-64 on Saturday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Zalgiris-Sabonio. Worth to mention a great performance of Paulius Kleiza who helped to win the game recording 27 points and 4 assists. At the losing side Arturas Gudaitis responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds. Birstono maintains fourteenth position with 5-11 record. Loser Zalgiris-Sabonio keeps the sixth place with six games lost. They share the position with Meresta and Suduva-Mantinga. Birstono will meet at home higher ranked Statyba (#3) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Zalgiris-Sabonio will play against the league's second-placed Zanavykas having rather not much hope for a victory.

Triobet moved-up to ninth place, which they share with S.Marciulionio. Perlas-MRU at the other side keeps the eleventh position with nine games lost. Triobet's next round opponent will be Ezerunas-Karys (#13) in Moletai. Perlas-MRU will play at home against Delikatesas in Joniskis and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Mazeikiai will face Meresta (#6) in Pakruojis in the next round where they are favorite. Silute will play at home against Suduva-Mantinga (#7) in Marijampole.

Rest of the games of round 16 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Delikatesas defeated Gargzdai in Joniskis 79-72. Zanavykas beat S.Marciulionio at home 99-83. Nafta Universitetas lost to Statyba on the opponent's court 80-85.
The best stats of 16th round was 35 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 6 assists by Edgaras Stanionis of Zanavykas.


Silute - Mazeikiai 65-94

The game with biggest result difference took place in Silute. Local Silute (4-12) was outscored by second ranked Mazeikiai (12-4) 94-65 on Saturday night. The guests trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 9-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 94-65. Mazeikiai forced 25 Silute turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Silute's players. Forward Osvaldas Macernis (196-82) fired 25 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Rokas Giedraitis (198-92) chipped in 26 points. American point guard Dustin Heiman (180-86, college: Abil.Christian) produced 20 points and guard Evaldas Saulys (193-93) added 15 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Silute's coach Justas Brazas gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Mazeikiai keeps a position of league leader. Silute lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the fifteenth place with 12 games lost. Mazeikiai will face Meresta (#6) in Pakruojis in the next round where they are favorite. Silute will play at home against Suduva-Mantinga (#7) in Marijampole.

Birstono - Zalgiris-Sabonio 66-64

A very close game took place in Kaunas between Birstono and Zalgiris-Sabonio. Fourteenth ranked Birstono (5-11) got a very close home victory over higher ranked Zalgiris-Sabonio (10-6). Birstono managed to escape with a 2-point win 66-64 on Saturday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Zalgiris-Sabonio. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Zalgiris-Sabonio won third quarter 18-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Birstono forced 23 Zalgiris-Sabonio turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of Paulius Kleiza (195-88) who helped to win the game recording 27 points and 4 assists and Simas Raupys (195-94) who added 12 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side center Arturas Gudaitis (208-93) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and Justas Tamulis (194-94, agency: Beo Basket) scored 15 points and 5 rebounds. Perlas-MRU - Triobet 88-91

A very interesting game took place in Vilnius. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 11th ranked Perlas-MRU (7-9) to tenth ranked Triobet (9-7) 91-88 on Saturday evening. It looked good early as Perlas-MRU took an 4-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Triobet had a 27-13 second period charge getting the lead and Perlas-MRU was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 88-91. Triobet made 30-of-38 charity shots (78.9 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Perlas-MRU turnovers. 32 personal fouls committed by Perlas-MRU helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The winners were led by forward Vytautas Kruzikas (199-89) who scored that evening 17 points and 9 rebounds and forward Martynas Linkevicius (197-85) supported him with 14 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Even 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists by guard Dominykas Domarkas (189-92) did not help to save the game for Perlas-MRU. Forward Antanas Udras (202-92) added 19 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. There was no surprise when 18th ranked Gargzdai-Bremena (2-14) was defeated at home by thirteenth ranked Delikatesas (7-9) 79-72 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 8 points after three quarters before their 24-9 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Delikatesas forced 22 Gargzdai-Bremena turnovers. Strangely Gargzdai-Bremena outrebounded Delikatesas 39-24 including 27 on the defensive glass. Gargzdai-Bremena was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Swingman Mantas Pukinskas (198-89) fired 21 points for the winners. Forward Edvinas Vaupsas (201-91) chipped in 19 points and 4 steals. Forward Donatas Tarolis (201-94) produced a double-double by scoring 27 points and 13 rebounds and point guard Dominikas Matutis (180-91) added 17 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Gargzdai-Bremena's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Delikatesas moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Perlas-MRU and Ezerunas-Karys. Loser Gargzdai-Bremena stay at the bottom position with 14 games lost. Delikatesas will face Perlas-MRU (#12) in Vilnius in the next round. Gargzdai-Bremena will play at home against Radviliskis (#16) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Zanavykas - S.Marciulionio 99-83

No shocking result in a game in Sakiai where fourth ranked Zanavykas (11-5) defeated 9th ranked S.Marciulionio (9-7) 99-83 on Saturday. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Zanavykas's pressure prevailed and they won that period 29-17 extending their advantage to 16 points. They shot 62.5 percent from the field. Zanavykas looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Guard Edgaras Stanionis (193-88) fired 35 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 6 assists (made all of his eight free throws) for the winners. Guard Arturs Pelss (181-87) chipped in 8 points, 8 rebounds and 10 assists. Zanavykas' coach Giedrius Zibenas used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Osvaldas Olisevicius (200-93) produced 15 points and 6 rebounds and forward Arvydas Gydra (206-89) added 10 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Very expected game in Vilnius where 15th ranked Nafta Universitetas (4-12) was defeated by seventh ranked Statyba (11-5) 85-80 on Saturday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Nafta Universitetas was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Statyba dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Nafta Universitetas' 42. Forward Darius Tarvydas (200-91) fired 21 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. point guard Ovidijus Varanauskas (187-91) chipped in 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Donatas Norkus (196-90) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds and forward Viktoras Chodosovskis (200-89) added 15 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Statyba moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams. Nafta Universitetas lost fourth consecutive game. Important game to mention about took place in Plunge. Sixth ranked Olimpas (11-5) saved a 3-point victory at home edging one of their biggest challengers Suduva-Mantinga (10-6) 74-71 on Saturday evening. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Olimpas forced 22 Suduva-Mantinga turnovers. Suduva-Mantinga was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Ignas Razutis (185-87) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 5 steals (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Forward Audrius Maneikis (203-84, college: Motlow St. CC) contributed with 21 points for the winners. Guard Zilvinas Kuklierius (180-85) replied with 18 points and 8 rebounds and guard Paulius Knyza (190-91) added 16 points in the effort for Suduva-Mantinga. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Olimpas have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams.
