NKL is at the halfway of the Regular Season and there are still another 17 rounds left.

The most exciting game of round 17 in the NKL took place in Pakruojis. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 6th ranked Meresta (10-7) to first ranked Mazeikiai (13-4) 94-92 on Friday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Belarusian center Aleh Kojenets (208-77, college: NC-Wilmington) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds. Forward Osvaldas Macernis (196-82) contributed with 17 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Guard Tomas Gaidamavicius (191-82) answered with 26 points and 5 assists for Meresta. Mazeikiai have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 13-4 record. Meresta lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with seven games lost. They share it with Triobet and Zalgiris-Sabonio. Mazeikiai will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Meresta will play again on the road against the league's leader Mazeikiai (#1) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
Bottom-ranked Gargzdai-Bremena managed to get a third victory, breaking the series of two consecutive loses. This time they outleveled sixteenth-ranked Radviliskis 87-59. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 28-point difference suggests that Gargzdai-Bremena is in a good shape to leave the bottom place.
