The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin.

NKL top team - Mazeikiai (16-4) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they beat twelfth ranked Perlas-MRU (9-11) in Vilnius 90-74. The game was mostly controlled by Mazeikiai. Perlas-MRU managed to win second period 22-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Mazeikiai forced 24 Perlas-MRU turnovers. Strangely Perlas-MRU outrebounded Mazeikiai 37-20 including 16 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Perlas-MRU's players. Forward Osvaldas Macernis (196-82) orchestrated the victory by scoring 28 points and 4 assists. Rokas Giedraitis (198-92) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Forward Antanas Udras (202-92) replied with 13 points and 7 rebounds for Perlas-MRU. Mazeikiai have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 16-4 record. Perlas-MRU at the other side dropped to the eleventh place with 11 games lost. They share the position with Delikatesas. Mazeikiai are looking forward to face Olimpas (#3) in Plunge in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Perlas-MRU will play on the road against Meresta (#9) in Pakruojis and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Important game to mention about took place in Silute. Seventeenth ranked Silute (5-15) saved a 1-point victory at home edging higher ranked Delikatesas (9-11) 65-64 on Saturday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Delikatesas. Worth to mention a great performance of center Nerijus Anglickis (211-90) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds and Marius Kasiulevicius who added 12 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Guard Aivaras Kvedaravicius (184-88) responded with 18 points and 4 assists. Silute moved-up to sixteenth place, which they share with Nafta Universitetas. Delikatesas at the other side keeps the eleventh position with 11 games lost. They share it with Perlas-MRU. Silute will play against higher ranked Ezerunas-Karys (#13) in Moletai in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Delikatesas will play at home against the league's second-placed Dzukija and will have a slim chance for a victory.
Fifteenth-ranked Radviliskis (5-14) was very close to win a game against fifth ranked Olimpas (14-6) in Plunge on Saturday. Olimpas managed to secure only two-point victory 81-79. However their fans expected much easier game. The winners were led by Julius Kazakauskas who had that evening a double-double by scoring 25 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. Even 23 points and 5 rebounds by Darius Gricius did not help to save the game for Radviliskis. Olimpas moved-up to third place, which they share with Zanavykas and Suduva-Mantinga. Loser Radviliskis keeps the fifteenth position with 14 games lost. Olimpas will meet league's leader Mazeikiai on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Radviliskis will play against Statyba (#6) in Vilnius and hope to secure a win.
A very interesting game took place in Kaunas. It ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 13th ranked Ezerunas-Karys (8-12) to fourteenth ranked Birstono (7-13) 73-70 on Saturday evening. The best player for the winners was Paulius Kleiza who scored 27 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Ezerunas-Karys' coach Mindaugas Kildisius rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Birstono maintains fourteenth position with 7-13 record. Ezerunas-Karys at the other side keeps the thirteenth place with 12 games lost. Birstono's next round opponent will be Nafta Universitetas (#16) in Klaipeda.
The game between fourth ranked Zanavykas (14-6) and 16th ranked Nafta Universitetas (5-15) in Sakiai on Saturday ended with biggest points difference. Zanavykas outscored guests from Klaipeda 92-72. Edgaras Stanionis orchestrated the victory by scoring 26 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. Zanavykas moved-up to third place, which they share with Olimpas and Suduva-Mantinga. Loser Nafta Universitetas keeps the sixteenth position with 15 games lost. Zanavykas will face Suduva-Mantinga (#5) in Marijampole in the next round. Nafta Universitetas will play at home against Birstono (#14) in Kaunas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 20: S.Marciulionio was beaten by Dzukija on the road 94-85. Meresta lost to Triobet on its own court 81-96. Zalgiris-Sabonio unfortunately lost to Statyba in Vilnius 70-78. Bottom-ranked Gargzdai recorded a loss to Suduva-Mantinga at home 73-85.

Dzukija - S.Marciulionio 94-85

No shocking result in a game when second ranked Dzukija (15-5) beat 9th ranked S.Marciulionio (10-10) in Alytus 94-85 on Sunday. S.Marciulionio was trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 30-19 charge of Dzukija, which allowed them to win the game. They made 20-of-23 free shots (87.0 percent) during the game. Dzukija outrebounded S.Marciulionio 30-16 including 20 on the defensive glass. S.Marciulionio was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Polish center Cezary Trybanski (218-79) orchestrated the victory by scoring 21 points and 8 rebounds (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field). Forward Povilas Sakinis (199-80) contributed with 19 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Guard Marius Pociukonis (190-82) replied with 18 points and 4 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and forward Evaldas Baniulis (201-87, college: S.Carolina) added 14 points in the effort for S.Marciulionio. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Dzukija have a solid four-game winning streak. Newly promoted Dzukija maintains second position with 15-5 record behind leader Mazeikiai. Loser S.Marciulionio keeps the ninth place with ten games lost. Dzukija will face Delikatesas (#11) in Joniskis in the next round and are hoping to win another game. S.Marciulionio will play at home against Zalgiris-Sabonio in Kaunas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Meresta - Triobet 81-96

Rather expected game when 9th ranked Meresta (10-10) lost to seventh ranked Triobet (12-8) in Pakruojis 81-96 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Triobet. Meresta was better in fourth quarter 32-26. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Forward Tomas Milinskas (202-90) orchestrated the victory by scoring 27 points and 5 rebounds (on 13-of-16 shooting from the field). Forward Martynas Linkevicius (197-85) contributed with 21 points and 9 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Delikatesas. It looked good early as Delikatesas took an 6-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Silute had a 23-12 second period charge getting the lead and Delikatesas was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 64-65. Silute had a 27-16 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of center Nerijus Anglickis (211-90) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds and swingman Marius Kasiulevicius (198-82, college: Trinity Valley JC) who added 12 points and 7 rebounds during the contest.
