We bring you last week's top performances from Lithuanians who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

   #1. This week's number one is an international guard Martynas Gecevicius (193-88, currently plays in Greece). He led Olympiacos to an easy victory against the league outsider Ilysiakos (1-9) crushing them 113-75 in a derby game in the Greek A1 in Sunday night's game. Gecevicius recorded 17 points in 20 minutes on the court. Olympiacos S.F.P. Pireus (10-0) is placed first in the A1. So far his team won all ten games in the Regular Season. This year Gecevicius averages: 9.1ppg, 1.4rpg, 1.1apg, 2FGP: 82.4%(14-17), 3FGP: 41.4% in the nine games he played so far. He played for the Lithuanian senior national team one years ago.

Jonas Maciulis

   #2. Second place goes to an international swingman Jonas Maciulis (199-85, currently plays in Euroleague), who plays in Greece. Maciulis could not help Panathinaikos in their last game on Thursday. Despite his very good performance the seventh-placed Panathinaikos was edged 78-77 on the road by the second-ranked Khimky in the group E of Euroleague. Maciulis was the second best scorer with 15 points. He also added 5 rebounds. It's Maciulis' first season with the team. Maciulis' overall stats this year are: 9.7ppg, 4.5rpg, 1.3apg, 2FGP: 57.1%(24-42), 3FGP: 31.6% and FT: 65.0%. He is in the roster of the Lithuanian senior national team.

   #3. The Lithuanian player who performed third best last week abroad was an international small forward Linas Kleiza (203-85, college: Missouri, currently plays in NBA). Kleiza led Toronto Raptors to a victory over the Dallas Mavericks (12-14) crushing them 95-74 in the NBA on Friday night. He was MVP of the game. Kleiza scored 20 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 30 minutes. The Toronto Raptors have not so impressive 8-19 record this season. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. Kleiza has relatively good stats this year: 7.9ppg, 2.6rpg, 2FGP: 38.8%, 3FGP: 30.5% and FT: 82.4% in the 17 games. He is also a member of the Lithuanian senior national team.

   #4. Center Jonas Valanciunas (211-92, currently plays in NBA) is a teammate of previously mentioned Linas Kleiza. But that was another game of his team in NBA which we would like to mention. Valanciunas contributed to a Toronto Raptors' victory against the Detroit Pistons (7-21) 97-91. He scored 12 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. The Toronto Raptors have rather weak 8-19 record this season. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. This season Valanciunas has relatively solid stats: 8.1ppg, 5.4rpg, 1.1apg and 1.2bpg. He is also Lithuanian national team player.

International center Antanas Kavaliauskas (207-84, agency: Interperformances, college: Texas A&M, currently plays in Latvia) helped VEF Riga win their game against the closely-ranked Liepaja (5-8) crushing them 100-69 in the Latvian LBL last Wednesday. Kavaliauskas scored 13 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 22 minutes. VEF Riga (6-1) is placed sixth in the LBL. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Kavaliauskas has reliable stats this year: 10.4ppg and 4.6rpg in the five games. He plays currently for the Lithuanian national team.

Center Egidijus Dimsa (205-85, currently plays in Baltic League) helped his Estonian team TU/Rock win their game against the third-ranked Juventus (5-5) 114-97 in the Baltic League on Saturday night. Dimsa scored 13 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Tartu Ulikool/Rock (9-1) is placed first in group B. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. The Regular Season already ended in the Baltic League. Dimsa's overall stats this season are: 9.1ppg and 5.4rpg. He is a former university international player as he played for the Lithuanian team three years ago.

An experienced international power forward Darius Songaila (204-78, agency: Priority Sports, college: Wake Forest, currently plays in VTB United League) was the main contributor in a BC Donetsk's victory against the third-ranked Spartak St.Petersburg (6-2) 63-59 in the VTB United League in Monday night's game. Songaila was the best player in that game. He scored 16 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 20 minutes. BC Donetsk (4-5) is placed seventh in group A. Songaila is ranked second on the list of the most steals in the league with 2.4spg. He also averaged so far 14.4ppg, 5.9rpg and 1.5apg in the eight games. Songaila is also Lithuanian national team player.

   #8. Center Michailis Anisimovas (214-84, currently plays in Ukraine) helped Budivelnyk win their game against the seventh-ranked Mykolaiv (9-11) 82-73 in the Ukrainian Superleague last Sunday. He scored 11 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Budivelnyk Kyiv (16-5) is placed first in the Superleague. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. Anisimovas is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fourth year in Budivelnyk's roster. Anisimovas' overall stats this season are: 9.3ppg, 4.8rpg and 1.5apg. He used to play for the Lithuanian university national team back in 2007.

   #9. University international forward Osvaldas Matulionis (200-91, currently plays in Baltic League), who plays in Estonia was not able to help KK Parnu (2-6) in their last game. Despite Matulionis' very good performance KK Parnu (#4) lost 75-89 in Kaunas to the lower-ranked (#5) LSU-Baltai in the group D of Baltic League. He was the top scorer with 32 points. Matulionis also added 7 rebounds in 34 minutes. It was KK Parnu's third consecutive loss in a row. The Regular Season already ended in the Baltic League. Matulionis averaged so far 13.8ppg, 5.1rpg, 2.5apg and 1.6spg in the eight games. He used to play for the Lithuanian university national team last year.

Point guard Sarunas Jasikevicius (192-76, college: Maryland, currently plays in Spain) was not able to secure a victory for Regal FC Barcelona (7-6) in their game against Blusens Monbus (7-6) in the Spanish ACB. Jasikevicius recorded 7 points. Regal FC Barcelona was defeated 62-54 in Santoago de Comp by the lower-ranked Blusens Monbus (#9). This season Jasikevicius averages only 4.3ppg. He is an international player who is currently on the senior Lithuanian National Team roster.

   #11. Former University international guard Vaidotas Peciukas (199-82, college: Hawaii, currently plays in Romania) helped Targu Mures win their game against the league outsider CS Dinamo Bucuresti crushing them 87-66 in the Romanian Division A last Friday. Peciukas was the top player that evening. He recorded 21 points and added 4 assists in a mere 18 minutes. Peciukas averaged so far 13.6ppg, 3.5rpg, 2.1apg and 1.1spg in the 14 games. He used to play for the Lithuanian university national team seven years ago.

   #12. Former U20 international guard Mantas Cesnauskis (191-81, currently plays in Poland) helped Stelmet ZG win their game against the closely-ranked Energa Czarni 98-89 in the Polish TBL on Sunday night. Cesnauskis scored 11 points. Cesnauskis' overall stats this season are: 7.2ppg, 1.8rpg and 2.0apg. He used to play for the Lithuanian U20 national team back in 2000.

   #13. Former U20 international point guard Evaldas Zabas (188-88, currently plays in Czech Republic) was the major contributor in a BK Pardubice's victory against the closely-ranked Levice 81-74 in the Czech Republic NBL in Saturday night's game. Zabas recorded 19 points and added 4 passes in 34 minutes. Zabas is currently fourth on the list of top scorers with 17.6ppg. He also averaged so far 3.3rpg, 3.2apg and 1.3spg in the 15 games. Zabas used to play for the Lithuanian U20 national team four years ago.

   #14. Former U20 international forward Donatas Zavackas (203-80, college: Pittsburgh, currently plays in VTB United League) is a teammate of previously mentioned Antanas Kavaliauskas. However that was another game of his team in VTB United League which brought him to that list. Zavackas couldn't help VEF Riga in their game against Lokomotiv. He scored 5 points, had 6 rebounds and dished 3 assists. His team was defeated 77-72. Zavackas' overall stats this season are: 9.9ppg, 5.2rpg and 1.3apg. He used to play for the Lithuanian U20 national team back in 2000.

   #15. Former U21 international guard Gediminas Navickas (180-84, currently plays in Romania) is a teammate of previously mentioned Vaidotas Peciukas. But that was another game of his team in Romanian Division A we would like to talk about. Navickas helped Targu Mures win their game against the tenth-ranked CSU Sibiu 89-83. He scored 16 points and added 5 passes in 36 minutes. Navickas averaged so far 12.0ppg, 2.3rpg and 4.7apg in the three games. He used to play for the Lithuanian U21 national team seven years ago.


The list of other players, who all have Lithuanian passport but never been selected to any of Lithuanian national teams:

   #1. Nik Stauskas (198-G-93, currently plays college basketball in the States) led Michigan to an easy victory against the Eastern Michigan University crushing them 93-54 in the NCAA in Thursday night's game. Stauskas scored 16 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 28 minutes. The University of Michigan has conference record this season. Stauskas averaged so far 12.0ppg, 2.3rpg and 4.7apg in the three games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Canadian and Lithuanian. Despite Stauskas' Lithuanian passport, he currently plays for the Canadian U19 national team and is not eligible to play for the Lithuanian team.

   #2. Martynas Kuksta (203-C-89, currently plays in Sweden), who plays in the Swedish Basketettan (second division) could not help Hoganas (6-8) in their last game. Despite Kuksta's very good performance Hoganas (#7) lost 74-84 on the road to the lower-ranked (#9) Hogsbo in the South group. He had a double-double by scoring 29 points and getting 11 rebounds. Kuksta also added 2 blocks in 40 minutes. It was Hoganas' third consecutive loss in a row. Kuksta has been at the team for four years. He belongs to league's best blockers and is ranked #2 with 1.6bpg. This year Kuksta's other stats are: 16.6ppg and 8.1rpg in the 14 games.

   #3. Mantas Griskenas (200-F-85, college: Wichita St., currently plays in Romania) was not able to help CSU Sibiu (7-7) in their game against Targu Mures (10-4) in the Romanian Division A. He scored 9 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. But CSU Sibiu was defeated 89-83 in Mures by the higher-ranked Targu (#4). It was CSU Sibiu's first loss after four consecutive victories. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Griskenas averaged so far 11.4ppg and 5.8rpg.

   #4. Deividas Busma (212-C-87, agency: Two Points, college: Idaho St., currently plays in Spain), who plays in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division) was not able to secure a victory for CB Clavijo (5-6) in their last game. Despite his good performance CB Clavijo was edged 83-82 on the opponent's court by the second-ranked Ford_Burgos. Busma scored 10 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 18 minutes. This year Busma's overall stats are: 4.0ppg and 2.0rpg in the four games.

   #5. Gabas Maldunas (203-F-93, currently studies in the States) couldn't help the Dartmouth in their game against the Arizona State University in the NCAA. Despite his good performance in Saturday night's game He recorded 12 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Maldunas' overall stats this season are: 4.0ppg and 2.0rpg.

   #6. Benas Veikalas (192-G-83, college: Metro St., currently plays in Germany) couldn't help one of league's weakest teams Telekom Baskets in their game against s Oliver Baskets in the German BBL. He recorded only 4 points. His team was defeated 85-72. Veikalas' overall stats this season are: 9.2ppg, 2.5rpg and 1.3apg.

   #7. Gintaras Leonavicius (194-G-83, agency: Players Group, currently plays in Spain) couldn't help one of league's weakest teams one of league's weakest teams Leche Rio Breogan in their game against Palencia Baloncesto in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division). He scored 5 points and added 4 assists in 30 minutes. His team lost 67-77. This year Leonavicius' overall stats are: 7.7ppg, 2.3rpg and 2.5apg in the 11 games.

   #8. Vytautas Kamarunas (179-PG-89, currently plays in Belarus) led Svisloch to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Impuls BGUIR 89-71 in the Belarusian Premier League on Tuesday night. He recorded 12 points and added 3 assists. Kamarunas belongs to league's best passers and is ranked #6. He has very reliable stats this season: 11.6ppg, 3.3rpg, 4.2apg and 1.9spg.

   #9. Evaldas Juozapaitis (189-G-84, currently plays in Sweden) is a teammate of previously mentioned Martynas Kuksta and both played together in the last Swedish Basketettan game. Juozapaitis couldn't help Hoganas in their game against Hogsbo. Despite his very good performance last Saturday He was the second best scorer with 15 points. Juozapaitis also added 5 rebounds and dished 6 assists. He averaged so far 12.6ppg, 3.1rpg, 3.2apg and 1.7spg.

   #10. Nerijus Brasas (200-F-85, currently plays in Denmark) contributed to Naestved's victory against the closely-ranked Vaerlose 98-90 in the Danish Ligaen on Wednesday night. Brasas recorded 8 points in 22 minutes. This year his overall stats are: 8.7ppg and 4.4rpg in the 17 games.

Angers BC 49 (NM1) added to their roster 28-year old Lithuanian forward Rokas Uzas (203-88). Uzas managed to play in three leagues in two countries last year. He played last season at Bashkimi in Kosovan SuperLeague. In 11 games he recorded very impressive stats: 16.9ppg, 7.4rpg, 3.7apg and 1.1spg. Uzas helped them to make it to the semifinals.
