We bring you last week's top performances from Lithuanians who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

   #1. This week's number one is an experienced international power forward Darius Songaila (204-78, agency: Priority Sports, college: Wake Forest, currently plays in Ukraine). He led BC Donetsk to a victory over one of league's weakest teams BC Odessa (5-16) 102-90 in the Ukrainian Superleague in Sunday night's game. Songaila was MVP of the game. He recorded 25 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in 33 minutes on the court. BC Donetsk (10-9) is placed eighth in the Superleague. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. Songaila has relatively good stats this year: 14.2ppg, 5.2rpg, 1.9apg, 1.3spg, 2FGP: 51.4% and FT: 77.8% in the 13 games he played so far. He is currently a member of the Lithuanian senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to former international forward Dainius Salenga (197-77, currently plays in Ukraine). Salenga was the major contributor in Budivelnyk's victory against the league outsider BC Kyiv (5-17) 88-69 in a derby game in the Ukrainian Superleague last Friday. He scored 15 points, had 6 rebounds and dished 5 assists. Budivelnyk Kyiv (17-5) is placed first in the Superleague. It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. It's Salenga's first season with the team. This year Salenga averages: 8.6ppg, 2.9rpg, 2.2apg, 1.2spg, 2FGP: 52.3%, 3FGP: 27.7% and FT: 81.3%. He played for the Lithuanian national team in 2005.

The Lithuanian player who performed third best last week abroad was an international center Antanas Kavaliauskas (207-84, agency: Interperformances, college: Texas A&M, currently plays in Latvia). Kavaliauskas contributed to an overtime VEF Riga's victory against the league leader Valmiera (11-5) 107-105 in the Latvian LBL on Friday night. He scored 17 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 26 minutes. VEF Riga (7-1) is placed fifth in the LBL. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. This year Kavaliauskas has relatively solid stats: 11.5ppg, 4.8rpg, 2FGP: 76.3%(29-38) and FT: 64.7% in the six games. He is also a member of the Lithuanian senior national team.

Forward Donatas Zavackas (203-80, college: Pittsburgh, currently plays in Latvia) is a teammate of previously mentioned Antanas Kavaliauskas and both played together in the last Latvian LBL game. Zavackas contributed to an overtime VEF Riga's victory against the league leader Valmiera (11-5) 107-105. He scored 11 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Zavackas' overall stats this season are: 10.0ppg, 4.9rpg and 1.6apg. He used to play for the Lithuanian U20 national team back in 2000.

Former U20 international guard Mantas Cesnauskis (191-81, currently plays in Poland) contributed to a Stelmet ZG's victory against the closely-ranked Anwil (7-6) 90-84 in the Polish TBL last Saturday. Cesnauskis recorded 11 points and added 6 assists in 34 minutes. Stelmet Zielona Gora (9-4) is placed fourth in the TBL. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. This year Cesnauskis' overall stats are: 7.5ppg, 1.8rpg and 2.3apg in the 13 games. He has a dual citizenship: Lithuanian and Polish. Cesnauskis used to play for the Lithuanian U20 national team twelve years ago.

Guard Vaidotas Peciukas (199-82, college: Hawaii, currently plays in Romania) was the main contributor in a Targu Mures' victory against the 14th-ranked Miercurea Ciuc (3-12) 82-69 in the Romanian Division A in Saturday night's game. He was the best player in that game. Peciukas scored 27 points (!!!) in 28 minutes. BC Mures Targu-Mures (11-4) is placed fourth in the Division A. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. They will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And now that game is quite important. Peciukas has reliable stats this year: 14.5ppg, 3.3rpg, 2.1apg and 1.1spg in the 15 games. He is a former university international player as he played for the Lithuanian team seven years ago.

Former international forward Simonas Serapinas (197-82, currently plays in Ukraine) helped Azovmash win their game against one of league's weakest teams BC Odessa (5-16) 83-75 in the Ukrainian Superleague last Friday. Serapinas scored 12 points, had 8 rebounds and made 2 blocks. Azovmash Mariupol (15-5) is placed third in the Superleague. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. Serapinas' total stats this season are: 6.8ppg, 4.3rpg and 1.2spg. He used to play for the Lithuanian national team eight years ago.

   #8. Guard Martynas Gecevicius (193-88, currently plays in Euroleague), who plays in Greece could not help Olympiacos (0-1) to beat Caja Laboral (1-0). Gecevicius recorded 5 points in 10 minutes. The eighth-placed Olympiacos lost 74-82 on the road to the higher-ranked (#3) Caja Laboral in the group F of Euroleague. This year Gecevicius averages only 2.0ppg in the seven games. He used to play for the Lithuanian national team last year.

International small forward Linas Kleiza (203-85, college: Missouri, currently plays in NBA) helped Toronto Raptors win their game against the Orlando Magic (12-16) 93-90 in the NBA in Friday night's game. Kleiza recorded 9 points. The Toronto Raptors have rather weak 9-20 record this season. It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. Kleiza averaged so far 7.8ppg and 2.6rpg. He is also in the roster of the Lithuanian national team.

   #10. Forward Osvaldas Matulionis (200-91, currently plays in Estonia) helped KK Parnu win their game against the league outsider Hito/Johvi (1-11) 81-73 in the Estonian KML last Thursday. Matulionis had a double-double by scoring 22 points and getting 10 rebounds. He also added 2 blocks and 3 steals (made all of his five free throws) in 32 minutes. KK Parnu (5-7) is placed sixth in the KML. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be important. Matulionis is currently seventh on the list of top scorers with 14.5ppg. This year he also averages: 4.9rpg, 1.8apg and 1.3spg in the 11 games. Matulionis is university international player as one years ago he still played for the Lithuanian national team.

   #11. International shooting guard Martynas Pocius (196-86, also represented by Interperformances, college: Duke, currently plays in Spain) managed to help Real Madrid in a 3-point victoryagainst the closely-ranked Valencia Basket 87-84 in the Spanish ACB in Thursday night's game. He recorded only 2 points in 12 minutes. This year Pocius' total stats are: 6.2ppg and 1.7rpg in the 12 games. He plays currently for the Lithuanian national team.

   #12. Former U21 international power forward Valdas Dabkus (204-84, currently plays in Poland), who plays in the Polish TBL was not able to help Energa Czarni (8-6) in their last game on Sunday. Despite Dabkus' good performance Energa Czarni was defeated 104-94 in Zgorzelec by the leading PGE Turow. He recorded 11 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Dabkus has averaged so far 8.8ppg, 6.6rpg and 1.2spg. He used to play for the Lithuanian U21 national team back in 2003.

   #13. International point guard Sarunas Jasikevicius (192-76, college: Maryland, currently plays in Spain) was not able to secure a victory for one of league's weakest teams Regal FC Barcelona in their game against Unicaja Malaga in the Spanish ACB. Jasikevicius scored 5 points in 15 minutes. His team was edged 71-69. This year Jasikevicius averages only 4.4ppg in the seven games. He is also Lithuanian national team player.

   #14. University international guard Augustas Peciukevicius (192-91, currently plays in Estonia) is a teammate of previously mentioned Osvaldas Matulionis. But that was another game of his team in Estonian KML which we would like to mention. Peciukevicius helped KK Parnu win their game against one of league's weakest teams Tln Kalev 93-75. He recorded a double-double by scoring 17 points and making 10 passes. Peciukevicius also added 6 rebounds. Peciukevicius averaged so far 13.9ppg, 5.2rpg, 4.7apg and 1.8spg. He used to play for the Lithuanian university national team last year.

   #15. Former U20 international forward Povilas Butkevicius (203-87, agency: Players Group, currently plays in Italy) helped Novipiu Casale win their game against the eighth-ranked Tezenis VE 79-72 in the Italian Lega2 (second division) on Sunday night. He scored 14 points, had 5 rebounds and made 2 blocks. Butkevicius has averaged so far 8.0ppg, 8.4rpg and 1.4spg. He used to play for the Lithuanian U20 national team five years ago.


The list of other players, who all have Lithuanian passport but never been selected to any of Lithuanian national teams:

   #1. Zygimantas Jonusas (200-F-82, currently plays in Italy), who plays in the Italian SerieA could not help one of league's weakest teams Juvecaserta (5-7) in their last game on Sunday. Despite his very good performance Juvecaserta was defeated in an overtime 83-77 on the road by the higher-ranked Umana Venezia (#10). Jonusas recorded a double-double by scoring 16 points and getting 11 rebounds. He also added and 3 steals. Jonusas' total stats this season are: 9.5ppg, 4.8rpg and 1.4spg.

   #2. Benas Veikalas (192-G-83, college: Metro St., currently plays in Germany), who plays in the German BBL was not able to help Telekom Baskets (5-9) in their last game on Saturday. Despite his very good performance Telekom Baskets was defeated 92-78 in Bamberg by the leading Brose Baskets. Veikalas was the top scorer with 16 points. Veikalas' total stats this season are: 9.9ppg, 2.5rpg and 1.2apg.

   #3. Arturas Masiulis (210-C-80, currently plays in United Kingdom) was the major contributor in a Worcester Wolves' victory against the closely-ranked Glasgow Rocks (8-7) 83-70 in the British BBL last Saturday. Masiulis recorded 16 points, 6 rebounds and 2 blocks in 21 minutes. Worcester Wolves (9-7) is placed fifth in the BBL. Masiulis' stats this year are: 13.3ppg, 7.6rpg and 1.5apg in the 15 games he played so far.

   #4. Gintaras Leonavicius (194-G-83, agency: Players Group, currently plays in Spain) led Leche Rio Breogan to a victory over the 12th-ranked Caceres Basket (4-8) 69-64 in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division) in Saturday night's game. Leonavicius was the top player that evening. He scored 16 points in 33 minutes. Leche Rio Breogan Lugo (7-5) is placed fifth in the LEB Gold. Leonavicius has averaged so far 8.4ppg, 2.3rpg and 2.3apg in the 12 games.

   #5. Nik Stauskas (198-G-93, currently plays college basketball in the States) contributed to an easy victory against the Eastern Michigan University crushing them 93-54 in the NCAA last Thursday. He scored 16 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. The University of Michigan has conference record this season. Stauskas has averaged so far 8.4ppg, 2.3rpg and 2.3apg. He has a dual citizenship: Canadian and Lithuanian. Despite Stauskas' Lithuanian passport, he currently plays for the Canadian U19 national team and is not eligible to play for the Lithuanian team.

   #6. Deividas Busma (212-C-87, agency: Two Points, college: Idaho St., currently plays in Spain) was not able to secure a victory for CB Clavijo in their game against Lobe Huesca in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division). Busma scored 7 points, had 8 rebounds and made 3 blocks. His team was edged 66-63. Busma has averaged so far 4.6ppg and 3.2rpg.

   #7. Algirdas Macevicius (200-F-88, college: Dowling, currently plays in Germany), who plays in the German ProA (second division) couldn't help USC Leipzig (3-12) in their last game on Saturday. Despite his good performance the bottom-ranked USC Leipzig was crushed 101-78 in Crailsheim by the higher-ranked Merlins (#14). Macevicius scored 11 points. Macevicius has averaged so far 4.7ppg and 2.9rpg.

   #8. Mantas Griskenas (200-F-85, college: Wichita St., currently plays in Romania) couldn't help CSU Sibiu in their game against CSM Bucuresti in the Romanian Division A. He scored 5 points in 24 minutes. His team lost 74-87. Griskenas' stats this year are: 10.9ppg and 5.6rpg in the 15 games.

   #9. Ignas Palaima (211-F, currently studies in the States) couldn't help the Milligan College in their game against the Liberty University in the AAC, despite his very good performance on Friday night. He recorded 15 points, 7 rebounds and 2 blocks in 21 minutes. But his team was badly defeated by 18 points 81-63 in the AAC. Palaima's stats this year are: 10.9ppg and 5.6rpg in the 15 games.

LKL Round 5 of Semi-Finals. Neptunas shock Lietuvos Rytas to join Finals - May 23, 2016

Lietuvos rytas - Neptunas 72-73 Neptunas shocked Lietuvos Rytas in Vilnius to advance into LKL Finals. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. 24 personal fouls committed by Lietuvos rytas helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities.
