We bring you last week's top performances from Lithuanians who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

   #1. This week's number one is former international guard Martynas Gecevicius (193-88, currently plays in Greece). He was the major contributor in Olympiacos' victory against the league outsider Panelefsiniakos (2-9) 94-76 in the Greek A1 in Sunday night's game. Gecevicius scored 13 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in a mere 15 minutes on the court. Olympiacos S.F.P. Pireus (11-0) is placed first in the A1. So far his team won all eleven games in the Regular Season. This year Gecevicius averages: 9.5ppg, 1.7rpg, 1.2apg, 2FGP: 77.8%(14-18), 3FGP: 46.9%(15-32) and FT: 91.7%(22-24) in the 10 games he played so far. He played for the Lithuanian senior national team two years ago.

   #2. Second place goes to an international swingman Jonas Maciulis (199-85, currently plays in Euroleague). Maciulis led his Greek team Panathinaikos to a victory against the sixth-ranked Unicaja Malaga (1-2) 78-73 in the Euroleague last Thursday. He scored 14 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Panathinaikos Athens (2-1) is placed third in group E. Maciulis' overall stats this season are: 9.6ppg, 4.5rpg, 1.2apg, 2FGP: 57.4%(27-47), 3FGP: 36.0% and FT: 68.0%. He is in the roster of the Lithuanian senior national team.

   #3. The Lithuanian player who performed third best last week abroad was an international small forward Simas Jasaitis (202-82, currently plays in Eurocup). Jasaitis contributed to Lokomotiv's victory against the fourth-ranked Spartak St.Petersburg (0-1) 84-70 in the Eurocup on Wednesday night. He recorded 15 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists in 34 minutes. Lokomotiv Kuban (1-0) is placed first in group K. There are only four games left until the end of the Eurocup Top 16. So now every game will be critical. Jasaitis has relatively good stats this year: 11.1ppg, 4.9rpg, 1.6apg, 2FGP: 77.8%(21-27), 3FGP: 31.3% in the seven games. He is also a member of the Lithuanian senior national team.

   #4. An experienced forward Donatas Zavackas (203-80, college: Pittsburgh, currently plays in Eurocup), who plays in Latvia could not help VEF Riga (0-1) in their last game on Tuesday. Despite Zavackas' very good performance the fourth-placed VEF Riga was defeated 86-82 on the road by the second-ranked Valencia Basket in the group J of Eurocup. He was the second best scorer with 18 points. Zavackas also added 4 rebounds. Zavackas' overall stats this season are: 7.3ppg and 4.0rpg. He used to play for the Lithuanian U20 national team back in 2000.

International point guard Sarunas Jasikevicius (192-76, college: Maryland, currently plays in Spain) contributed to an easy victory against the league outsider Lagun Aro GBC (2-14) crushing them 98-50 in the Spanish ACB last Sunday. Jasikevicius recorded 10 points and added 3 passes in only 11 minutes. Regal FC Barcelona (9-7) is placed eighth in the ACB. It's Jasikevicius' first season with the team. This year his overall stats are: 5.3ppg and 1.3apg in the nine games. Jasikevicius plays currently for the Lithuanian national team.

   #6. Center Egidijus Dimsa (205-85, currently plays in Estonia) led TU/Rock to a victory over the sixth-ranked Rapla (6-8) crushing them 79-51 in the Estonian KML on Saturday night. He was MVP of the game. Dimsa recorded 15 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Tartu Ulikool/Rock (13-0) is placed first in the KML. So far his team won all thirteen games in the Regular Season. Dimsa's total stats this season are: 8.6ppg and 5.9rpg. He is a former university international player as he played for the Lithuanian team four years ago.

International power forward Darius Songaila (204-78, agency: Priority Sports, college: Wake Forest, currently plays in VTB United League), who plays in Ukraine was not able to help BC Donetsk (4-6) in their last game. Despite Songaila's very good performance BC Donetsk (#7) lost 63-74 at home to the leading Unics Kazan in the group A of VTB United League. He had a double-double by scoring 15 points and getting 11 rebounds in 26 minutes. Songaila is currently ninth on the list of top scorers and also on the list of most steals (second place). He has very reliable stats this year: 14.4ppg, 6.4rpg, 1.3apg and 2.1spg in the nine games. Songaila is also Lithuanian national team player.

   #8. Forward Dainius Salenga (197-77, currently plays in Eurocup) contributed to Budivelnyk's victory against the third-ranked Banvit BK (0-1) 76-69 in the Eurocup last Wednesday. He recorded 14 points. Budivelnyk Kyiv (1-0) is placed first in group I. Salenga's total stats this season are: 8.0ppg, 3.3rpg and 1.1apg. He used to play for the Lithuanian national team back in 2005.

Former international point guard Arvydas Eitutavicius (188-82, college: American, currently plays in Poland) contributed to an easy victory against the league outsider Rosa Radom (3-12) 89-72 in the Polish TBL on Saturday night. Eitutavicius scored 20 points (went 6 for 6 at the free throw line) in a mere 17 minutes. Anwil Wloclawek (9-6) is placed sixth in the TBL. This year Eitutavicius' total stats are: 8.3ppg, 1.7rpg and 1.4apg in the 12 games. He used to play for the Lithuanian national team three years ago.

   #10. Power forward Valdas Dabkus (204-84, currently plays in Poland), who plays in the Polish TBL was not able to secure a victory for Energa Czarni (8-7) in their last game on Sunday. Despite Dabkus' very good performance Energa Czarni was defeated 85-81 on their home court in Slupsk by the lower-ranked Polpharma (#8). He was the top scorer with 18 points. Dabkus also added 7 rebounds. Dabkus has averaged so far 9.4ppg, 6.6rpg and 1.2spg. He is a former U21 international player as ten years ago he still played for the Lithuanian national team.

   #11. Former U20 international point guard Evaldas Zabas (188-88, currently plays in Czech Republic) was the main contributor in a BK Pardubice's victory against the ninth-ranked Levharti Chomutov crushing them 113-82 in the Czech Republic NBL last Saturday. Zabas was the best player in that game. He scored 22 points and added 4 assists in 21 minutes. Zabas is ranked third on the list of the top scorers in the league with 18.2ppg. This year he also averages: 3.6rpg, 3.2apg and 1.3spg in the 18 games. Zabas used to play for the Lithuanian U20 national team five years ago.

   #12. International point guard Mantas Kalnietis (195-86, agency: Interperformances, currently plays in Eurocup) is a teammate of previously mentioned Simas Jasaitis and both played together in the last Eurocup game. Kalnietis contributed to Lokomotiv's victory against the fourth-ranked Spartak St.Petersburg 84-70. He recorded 8 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists in 28 minutes. This year Kalnietis has relatively solid stats: 12.5ppg, 4.5rpg and 6.5apg in the two games. He is also in the roster of the Lithuanian national team.

   #13. Former U21 international guard Gediminas Navickas (180-84, currently plays in Romania) contributed to a Targu Mures' victory against the closely-ranked Timisoara 77-67 in the Romanian Division A on Thursday night. Navickas was the top player that evening. He recorded 18 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 26 minutes. Navickas has reliable stats this year: 14.0ppg, 2.4rpg, 3.2apg and 1.6spg in the five games. He used to play for the Lithuanian U21 national team eight years ago.

   #14. Former University international guard Augustas Peciukevicius (192-91, currently plays in Estonia), who plays in the Estonian KML couldn't help KK Parnu (5-10) in their last game. Despite Peciukevicius' very good performance KK Parnu was edged 79-76 in Tallinn by the one of league's weakest teams (#8) Tln Kalev. He was the second best scorer with 21 points. Peciukevicius also added 7 rebounds and 9 assists in 36 minutes. His stats this year are: 14.3ppg, 5.6rpg, 5.5apg and 1.9spg in the 14 games. Peciukevicius used to play for the Lithuanian university national team back in 2011.

   #15. Former University international center Michailis Anisimovas (214-84, currently plays in Eurocup) is a teammate of previously mentioned Dainius Salenga and both played together in the last Eurocup game. Anisimovas helped his Ukrainian team Budivelnyk win their game against the third-ranked Banvit BK 76-69. He recorded 6 points, 4 rebounds and 2 blocks. Anisimovas belongs to league's best blockers and is ranked #5. He has averaged so far 8.4ppg, 4.4rpg and 1.1apg. Anisimovas used to play for the Lithuanian university national team six years ago.


The list of other players, who all have Lithuanian passport but never been selected to any of Lithuanian national teams:

   #1. Benas Veikalas (192-G-83, college: Metro St., currently plays in Germany) led Telekom Baskets to a surprising victory over the seventh-ranked TBB Trier (10-8) 90-76 in the German BBL on Sunday night. He was the top player that evening. Veikalas scored 22 points. Telekom Baskets Bonn (7-10) is placed 13th in the BBL. This season Veikalas has relatively solid stats: 10.5ppg, 2.5rpg and 1.1apg.

   #2. Nik Stauskas (198-G-93, currently plays college basketball in the States) led Michigan to an easy victory against the University of Nebraska (0-3) 62-47 in the NCAA last Wednesday. Stauskas scored 13 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. The University of Michigan has 3-0 conference record this season. So far his team won all three games in the conference. Stauskas has reliable stats this season: 12.5ppg, 4.5rpg and 6.5apg. He has a dual citizenship: Canadian and Lithuanian. Despite Stauskas' Lithuanian passport, he previously played for the Canadian U19 national team and is probably not eligible to play for the Lithuanian team.

   #3. Experienced Christopher Young (206-F/C-79, college: Michigan, currently plays in Belgium), who plays in the Belgian Ethias League could not help one of league's weakest teams Okapi Aalstar (7-4) to beat Belfius Mons-Hainaut (8-4). Young scored 9 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. But Okapi Aalstar was crushed 96-73 on the road by the leading Belfius Mons-Hainaut. Young belongs to league's best rebounders (ranked #6) and also on the list of best blockers (fourth place). He has averaged so far 6.7ppg and 6.6rpg. Young is a naturalized American. Strangely he has never played in Lithuania.

   #4. Zygimantas Jonusas (200-F-82, currently plays in Italy) contributed to Juvecaserta's shocking victory against the second-ranked Banco di Sardegna Sassari (11-3) 88-81 in the Italian SerieA last Sunday. He scored 10 points and added 4 passes. JuveCaserta (7-7) is placed ninth in the SerieA. Jonusas has averaged so far 9.2ppg, 4.6rpg, 1.2apg and 1.4spg.

   #5. Gabas Maldunas (203-F-93, currently studies in the States) led Dartmouth to an easy victory against the U.S.Military Academy 75-58 in the NCAA last Tuesday. He scored 13 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. The Dartmouth College has conference record this season. Maldunas has averaged so far 9.2ppg, 4.6rpg, 1.2apg and 1.4spg.

   #6. Olegas Legankovas (197-SF-94, currently plays in Germany) was not able to help Bayer Giants in their game against Fraport Skyliners II in the German ProB (third division). He recorded 9 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 18 minutes. His team was crushed by 40 points 107-67. Legankovas has averaged so far 4.6ppg and 3.5rpg in the 13 games he played so far.

   #7. Deividas Busma (212-C-87, agency: Two Points, college: Idaho St., currently plays in Spain) contributed to a CB Clavijo's victory against the closely-ranked Leche Rio Breogan 77-69 in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division) in Friday night's game. He recorded 7 points in 18 minutes. Busma has averaged so far 5.0ppg and 2.7rpg in the six games.

   #8. Rokas Garlauskas (198-F-92, currently plays in Denmark) was not able to secure a victory for SISU in their game against Vaerlose in the Danish Ligaen. He scored 6 points. His team was edged 79-78. This season Garlauskas averages only 1.4ppg.

   #9. Donatas Visockis (208-C-86, college: Portland St., currently plays in Cyprus) couldn't help Omonia in their game against Keravnos in the Cypriot Division A. He scored 8 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. His team was badly defeated by 18 points 76-58. Visockis has averaged so far 2.3ppg and 4.0rpg.

   #10. Mantas Griskenas (200-F-85, college: Wichita St., currently plays in Romania) managed to help CSU Atlassib Sibiu in a victory against the closely-ranked Rovinari 73-68 in the Romanian Division A on Wednesday night. He recorded only 3 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 30 minutes. Griskenas averaged so far 10.4ppg and 5.5rpg in the 16 games.

Maccabi - Zalgiris 77:93 Zalgiris celebrated the road win over Maccabi in Tel Aviv to improve at 13-15 record in the ladder.
