Former international power forward Iveta Salkauske (195-F/C-82, agency: Josep and Nicolas) had a very impressive game in the last round for second-ranked Sirenos, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 15. The 30-year old player had a double-double of 25 points and 13 rebounds, while her team beat Suduva (#4, 9-6) 68-61. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Sirenos maintains the 2nd position in Lithuanian LMKL. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Sirenos will need more victories to improve their 11-4 record. In the team's last game Salkauske had a remarkable 52.9% from 2-point range. She turned to be Sirenos' top player in her first season with the team. Former University of Illinois star has very solid stats this year. Salkauske is league's best scorer averaging so far 22.4ppg. Salkauske is in league's top in rebounds (3rd best: 9.5rpg) and averages impressive 57.1% FGP.
The second best player in last round's games was 34-year old Rita Milieskiene (175-PG-78) of Utena. Milieskiene had a very good evening with a double-double of 26 points and 10 rebounds. Bad luck as Utena lost that game 79-94 to the higher-ranked Fortuna (#3, 11-4). Utena managed to keep the same 7th spot in the standings. 13 lost games are too many comparing to just two victories Utena managed to get this year. Milieskiene is a newcomer at Utena, but is already one of team's top players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 16.9ppg (#7). She also registered 6.7 boards per game.
Third on the list of top players last round was forward Jolanta Marmiene (181-F-79) of Aistes-LSU (#5). Marmiene scored 19 points and grabbed twelve rebounds (!!!). She was a key player of Aistes-LSU, leading her team to a 65-54 win against Ruta Siauliai (6-9). The chances of Aistes-LSU ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 9 games, recording just six victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Marmiene could help Aistes-LSU to bring them higher in the standings. Marmiene has a very solid season. In 15 games in Lithuania she scored 12.9ppg.
The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
