The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin.

The most exciting game of round 24 in the NKL took place in Plunge. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 5th ranked Triobet (15-9) to third ranked Olimpas (17-7) 80-77 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Triobet. Triobet trailed by 20 points at halftime and as many as 21 after three quarters before a 36-18 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 77-80 at the end of the game. Strangely Triobet outrebounded Olimpas 41-27 including 26 on the defensive glass. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. It was a good game for forward Audrius Maneikis (203-84, college: Motlow St. CC) who led his team to a victory with 20 points and 5 rebounds. Guard Ignas Razutis (185-87) contributed with 12 points and 5 assists for the winners. Forward Martynas Linkevicius (197-85) replied with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 11 rebounds for Triobet. Olimpas have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Dzukija. Triobet at the other side dropped to the fourth position with nine games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Olimpas is looking forward to face Perlas-MRU (#12) in Vilnius in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Triobet will play at home against Statyba (#5) in Vilnius and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
An interesting game for Mazeikiai (19-5) which played road game in Alytus against second-best Dzukija (17-7). First ranked Mazeikiai managed to get a 7-point victory 94-87. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Osvaldas Macernis (196-82) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and Eigirdas Zukauskas who added 21 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was Polish center Cezary Trybanski (218-79) with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 18 rebounds and 5 blocks. Mazeikiai maintains first position with 19-5 record. Newly promoted Dzukija keeps the second place with seven games lost. They share the position with Olimpas. Mazeikiai will play against Zalgiris-Sabonio (#8) in Kaunas in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Dzukija will play on the road against Meresta (#9) in Pakruojis and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Bottom-ranked Gargzdai-Bremena managed to get a fifth victory on Sunday night. This time they outleveled fifteenth-ranked Ezerunas-Karys 83-56. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 27-point difference suggests that Gargzdai-Bremena is in a good shape to leave the bottom place. The winners were led by Mantas Martinkus who scored that evening 18 points. Even 12 points and 5 rebounds by Dainius Navickas did not help to save the game for Ezerunas-Karys. Ezerunas-Karys' coach Mindaugas Kildisius gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Gargzdai-Bremena (5-19) moved-up to seventeenth place, which they share with Nafta Universitetas. Ezerunas-Karys lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the fifteenth position with 16 games lost. Gargzdai-Bremena will meet higher ranked Silute (#16) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Ezerunas-Karys will play against Zanavykas where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
The game in Vilnius supposed to be also worth to mention about. One of their biggest challengers Suduva-Mantinga (15-9) played at the court of seventh ranked Statyba (15-9). Statyba smashed Suduva-Mantinga 97-71. The best player for the winners was Karolis Brusokas who had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Statyba moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Suduva-Mantinga. Suduva-Mantinga lost third consecutive game. Statyba's next round opponent will be Triobet (#6) in Jonava. Suduva-Mantinga will play at home against S.Marciulionio in Vilnius.
Seventeenth-ranked Nafta Universitetas (5-19) used its home court advantage to challenge tenth ranked S.Marciulionio (13-11) in Klaipeda on Sunday. The visitors from Vilnius managed to secure only three-point victory 86-83. However their fans expected much easier game. It was a good game for Evaldas Baniulis who led his team to a victory with 24 points and 8 rebounds. S.Marciulionio moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Meresta. Nafta Universitetas lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom position with 19 games lost. S.Marciulionio will face higher ranked Suduva-Mantinga (#7) in Marijampole in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Nafta Universitetas will play on the road against Delikatesas (#11) in Joniskis.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 24: Delikatesas was smashed by Zanavykas on the road 85-65. Zalgiris-Sabonio won against Radviliskis on its own court 87-74. Perlas-MRU unfortunately lost to Birstono in Kaunas 78-85. Silute recorded a loss to Meresta at home 71-88.
The most impressive performance of 24th round was 33 points (!!!) and 15 rebounds by Vilius Sumskis of Zanavykas.

Zanavykas - Delikatesas 85-65

No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Zanavykas (15-9) crushed 11th ranked Delikatesas (10-14) in Sakiai 85-65 on Sunday. The game without a history. Zanavykas led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Delikatesas' 32. They outrebounded Delikatesas 39-27 including 18 on the offensive glass. It was a good game for center Vilius Sumskis (213-84, agency: Interperformances) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 15 rebounds (on 15-of-19 shooting from the field). Guard Edgaras Stanionis (193-88) contributed with 13 points and 4 steals for the winners. Zanavykas' coach Giedrius Zibenas used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Swingman Deividas Girdvila (196-90, agency: Dynamics Global Management) replied with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds and swingman Zilvinas Petraitis (194-88) added 22 points in the effort for Delikatesas. Zanavykas moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Delikatesas keeps the eleventh position with 14 games lost. Zanavykas will face Ezerunas-Karys (#15) in Moletai in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Delikatesas will play at home against Nafta Universitetas (#18) in Klaipeda.

The game in Vilnius supposed to be also worth to mention about. One of their biggest challengers Suduva-Mantinga (15-9) played at the court of seventh ranked Statyba (15-9). Statyba smashed Suduva-Mantinga 97-71. The game was mostly controlled by Statyba. Suduva-Mantinga was better in second period 21-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Statyba dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Suduva-Mantinga's 42 and made 16-of-20 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Suduva-Mantinga 39-28 including 27 on the defensive glass. Statyba players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Very expected game when 14th ranked Radviliskis (8-15) lost to eighth ranked Zalgiris-Sabonio (14-10) in Kaunas 74-87 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 87-74. Olimpas - Triobet 80-77
