Eighth-ranked Meresta (14-12) made lots of trouble for second ranked Olimpas (19-7) in Plunge on Saturday. Olimpas managed to secure only two-point victory 84-82. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Meresta. The hosts trailed by 3 points after three quarters before their 21-16 charge, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was forward Audrius Maneikis (203-84, college: Motlow St. CC) who scored 26 points and 5 rebounds. Guard Ignas Razutis (185-87) chipped in 8 points and 11 assists. Guard Tomas Gaidamavicius (191-82) produced 19 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists for the guests. Olimpas have an impressive five-game winning streak. Newly promoted Olimpas maintains second position with 19-7 record having just two points less than leader Mazeikiai. Meresta at the other side dropped to the ninth place with 12 games lost. They share the position with S.Marciulionio. Olimpas are looking forward to face Gargzdai-Bremena (#17) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Meresta will play against Statyba (#7) in Vilnius and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Leader Mazeikiai delivered the twentieth first victory. This time they beat 7th ranked Statyba (15-11) 90-82 in Vilnius. Rokas Giedraitis (198-92) orchestrated the victory by scoring 19 points. Eigirdas Zukauskas contributed with 12 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. point guard Ovidijus Varanauskas (187-91) replied with 17 points and 5 assists for Statyba. Statyba's coach Gintautas Regina rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Mazeikiai have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 21-5 record. Statyba at the other side keeps the seventh place with 11 games lost. They share the position with Zalgiris-Sabonio. Mazeikiai will play against S.Marciulionio (#10) in Vilnius in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Statyba will play on the road against Meresta in Pakruojis and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
A very close game took place in Kaunas between Birstono and Silute. Thirteenth ranked Birstono (11-15) got a very close home victory over 16th ranked Silute (8-18). Birstono managed to escape with a 3-point win 85-82 on Saturday evening. Paulius Kleiza scored 22 points to lead the charge for the winners. Birstono's coach Marius Kiltinavicius used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Evaldas Saulys responded with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds. Birstono moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Delikatesas and Perlas-MRU. Loser Silute keeps the sixteenth position with 18 games lost. Birstono will meet higher ranked Suduva-Mantinga (#4) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Silute will play against Dzukija (#3) and will have a slim chance for a victory.

S.Marciulionio's next round opponent will be league's leader Mazeikiai on the road and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Radviliskis will play against Delikatesas (#11) in Joniskis.

Rest of the games of round 26 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Delikatesas was defeated by Zalgiris-Sabonio in Kaunas 85-72. Nafta Universitetas was beaten by Suduva-Mantinga at home 95-105. Perlas-MRU won against Gargzdai on the opponent's court 92-83. Dzukija managed to outperform Ezerunas-Karys in a home game 83-75.
The best stats of 26th round was 32 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists by Marius Valukonis of Suduva-Mantinga.



Zalgiris-Sabonio - Delikatesas 85-72

There was no surprise in Kaunas where 11th ranked Delikatesas (11-15) was defeated by eighth ranked Zalgiris-Sabonio (15-11) 85-72. Delikatesas was ahead by 4 points at the halftime before a 48-31 second half run of Zalgiris-Sabonio. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. Forward Marius Grigonis (198-94) notched 19 points, 6 assists and 6 steals to lead the effort and center Arturas Gudaitis (208-93) supported him with 15 points and 13 rebounds. Four Zalgiris-Sabonio players scored in double figures. Zalgiris-Sabonio's coach Tomas Masiulis allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 19 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists by guard Aivaras Kvedaravicius (184-88) did not help to save the game for Delikatesas. Swingman Laimonas Lukosevicius (197-86) added 13 points and 4 assists for the guests. Zalgiris-Sabonio moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Statyba. Delikatesas at the other side keeps the eleventh position with 15 games lost. Zalgiris-Sabonio's next round opponent will be Ezerunas-Karys (#15) in Moletai and are hoping to win another game. Delikatesas will play at home against Radviliskis (#14).

Very expected game when 17th ranked Gargzdai-Bremena (5-21) was defeated at home by twelfth ranked Perlas-MRU (11-15) 92-83. It looked good early as Gargzdai-Bremena took an 9-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Perlas-MRU took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 9 points. Leader Mazeikiai delivered the twentieth first victory. This time they beat 7th ranked Statyba (15-11) 90-82 in Vilnius. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 29-16. But Statyba won third quarter 25-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Mazeikiai made 32-of-35 charity shots (91.4 percent) during the game, while Statyba only scored eight points from the stripe. They outrebounded Statyba 36-24 including a 28-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Statyba was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Rokas Giedraitis (198-92) orchestrated the victory by scoring 19 points. point guard Eigirdas Zukauskas (201-92) contributed with 12 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. point guard Ovidijus Varanauskas (187-91) replied with 17 points and 5 assists and forward Darius Tarvydas (200-91) added 21 points in the effort for Statyba. Five Mazeikiai and four Statyba players scored in double figures. Statyba's coach Gintautas Regina rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Mazeikiai have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 21-5 record. Statyba at the other side keeps the seventh place with 11 games lost. A very close game took place in Kaunas between Birstono and Silute. Thirteenth ranked Birstono (11-15) got a very close home victory over 16th ranked Silute (8-18). Birstono managed to escape with a 3-point win 85-82 on Saturday evening. Paulius Kleiza (195-88) scored 22 points to lead the charge for the winners and Donatas Sabeckis chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Four Birstono players scored in double figures. Birstono's coach Marius Kiltinavicius used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Guard Evaldas Saulys (193-93) responded with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds and power forward Gytis Pakalniskis (205-89) scored 14 points and 6 rebounds. Birstono moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Delikatesas and Perlas-MRU. Loser Silute keeps the sixteenth position with 18 games lost. Birstono will meet higher ranked Suduva-Mantinga (#4) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Silute will play against Dzukija (#3) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
