The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Mazeikiai (21-6) at the home court on Friday night. Hosts were defeated by tenth ranked S.Marciulionio (15-12) 81-74. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Mazeikiai. They outrebounded Mazeikiai 37-24 including 25 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for forward Evaldas Baniulis (201-87, college: S.Carolina) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds. Power forward Giedrius Staniulis (205-91) contributed with 11 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Rokas Giedraitis (198-92) answered with 19 points for Mazeikiai. S.Marciulionio moved-up to ninth place. Mazeikiai at the other side still keeps top position with six games lost. S.Marciulionio are looking forward to face Delikatesas (#13) in Joniskis in the next round. Mazeikiai will play on the road against Nafta Universitetas (#18) in Klaipeda and is hoping to win this game.
Important game to mention about took place in Joniskis. Fourteenth ranked Radviliskis (10-16) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging 11th ranked Delikatesas (11-16) 69-68 on Friday evening. It was a great evening for guard Vitalis Pancerevas (185-87, college: Weatherford JC) who led his team to a victory scoring 9 points and 7 rebounds. Erikas Kaupaitis helped adding 14 points. The best for the losing side was swingman Zilvinas Petraitis (194-88) with 25 points. Radviliskis maintains fourteenth place with 10-16 record. Delikatesas at the other side dropped to the thirteenth position with 16 games lost. Radviliskis will play against higher ranked Suduva-Mantinga (#4) in Marijampole in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Delikatesas will play on the road against S.Marciulionio (#9) in Vilnius and hopes to get back on the winning track.
A very close game took place in Pakruojis between Statyba and Meresta. Seventh ranked Statyba (16-11) got a very close victory on the road over 9th ranked Meresta (14-13). Statyba managed to escape with a 3-point win 84-81 on Friday evening. It was an exceptional evening for Ovidijus Varanauskas who led the winners and scored 24 points. Statyba's coach Gintautas Regina used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Tomas Gaidamavicius came up with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists for Meresta in the defeat. Statyba moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Zalgiris-Sabonio. Loser Meresta dropped to the tenth position with 13 games lost. Statyba will meet at home Ezerunas-Karys (#15) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Meresta will play against Zanavykas (#8) in Sakiai and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Worth to mention about the upset in a game between Zanavykas (15-10) and Perlas-MRU (12-15), which took place in Vilnius. Higher ranked Zanavykas lost to twelfth ranked Perlas-MRU in a road game 78-87. The best player for the winners was Antanas Udras who had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Perlas-MRU moved-up to eleventh place. Newly promoted Zanavykas dropped to the eighth position with ten games lost. Perlas-MRU's next round opponent will be higher ranked Dzukija (#3) in Alytus and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 27: Zalgiris-Sabonio beat Ezerunas-Karys on the road 63-56. Silute lost to Dzukija on its own court 80-88. Bottom-ranked Nafta Universitetas unfortunately lost to Triobet in Jonava 87-93. Gargzdai recorded a loss to Olimpas at home 68-72.
The most impressive performance of 27th round was 23 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists by Henrikas Vorotnikovas of Triobet.


Ezerunas-Karys - Zalgiris-Sabonio 56-63

No shocking result in a game when eighth ranked Zalgiris-Sabonio (16-11) beat 15th ranked Ezerunas-Karys (8-18) in Moletai 63-56. The guests were ahead by 2 points but lost the second period ending it with a 3-point deficit before their 24-14 run, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely Ezerunas-Karys outrebounded Zalgiris-Sabonio 44-31 including 16 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was point guard Vaidas Kariniauskas (200-93) who scored 16 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Center Arturas Gudaitis (208-93) chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Raimundas Ambrulaitis (199-82) who recorded a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds and forward Justas Narusis (198-90) added 13 points respectively. Zalgiris-Sabonio moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Statyba. Ezerunas-Karys lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the fifteenth position with 18 games lost. Zalgiris-Sabonio's next round opponent will be higher ranked Triobet (#5) in Jonava and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Ezerunas-Karys will play on the road against Statyba (#6) in Vilnius.

The guests were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. Olimpas forced 19 Gargzdai-Bremena turnovers. The best player for the winners was guard Ignas Razutis (185-87) who scored 15 points and 4 assists. Forward Mantas Kazonas (201-89) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds. Four Olimpas players scored in double figures. Olimpas' coach Alidas Zukauskas allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Mazeikiai (21-6) at the home court on Friday night. Hosts were defeated by tenth ranked S.Marciulionio (15-12) 81-74. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Mazeikiai. They outrebounded Mazeikiai 37-24 including 25 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for forward Evaldas Baniulis (201-87, college: S.Carolina) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds. Power forward Giedrius Staniulis (205-91) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Rokas Giedraitis (198-92) answered with 19 points and forward Osvaldas Macernis (196-82) added 13 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Mazeikiai. Four S.Marciulionio and five Mazeikiai players scored in double figures. S.Marciulionio moved-up to ninth place. Mazeikiai at the other side still keeps top position with six games lost. S.Marciulionio are looking forward to face Delikatesas (#13) in Joniskis in the next round. Mazeikiai will play on the road against Nafta Universitetas (#18) in Klaipeda and is hoping to win this game.
