LKL Round 19: Leader Rudupis get another victory - Feb 2, 2013

Leader Rudupis delivered the twelfth win on Saturday night. This time they crushed 5th ranked Nevezis (6-7) 108-87 in Prienai. The game was mostly controlled by Rudupis. Nevezis managed to win fourth quarter 28-26. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Rudupis shot 64.1 percent from the field. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Swingman Gediminas Orelikas (200-90) fired 25 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Forward Arturas Valeika (207-85, college: Midland CC) chipped in 22 points and 7 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). American forward Tony Bishop (201-89, college: Texas St., agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) produced 22 points and 6 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for lost side. Nevezis' coach Darius Sirtautas gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Rudupis maintains first place with 12-1 record. Nevezis at the other side dropped to the seventh position with seven games lost. Rudupis are looking forward to face league's second-placed Neptunas in Klaipeda in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Nevezis will play on the road against Lietkabelis (#9) in Panevezys and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Worth to mention a great performance of American-Puerto Rican point guard TreVon Hughes (183-87, college: Wisconsin, agency: Edge Sports) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 7 rebounds. Gediminas Maceina contributed with 12 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. American guard Parrish Brown (185-84, college: Maryland) answered with 29 points and 7 rebounds for Naglis Palangos. Pieno Zvaigzdes have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Juventus. Naglis Palangos at the other side still closes the standings with 14 games lost. Pieno Zvaigzdes will play against higher ranked Siauliai (#4) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Naglis Palangos will play against Juventus (#6) in Utena and hopes to get finally their first victory.

In the last game of round 19 Juventus crushed Sakalai in Utena 82-62.

There was no surprise in Vilnius where 11th ranked Sakalai (3-11) was crushed by sixth ranked Juventus (7-6) 82-62. The game was mostly controlled by Juventus. Sakalai was better in fourth quarter 14-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Juventus dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Sakalai's 38. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Nerijus Varnelis (201-78) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 9 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Guard Arvydas Cepulis (197-79) contributed with 21 points for the winners. Jokubas Gintvainis (191-94) answered with 17 points and 8 assists and swingman Zygimantas Sestokas (196-86, college: Hofstra, agency: Players Group) added 15 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Sakalai. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Juventus moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Pieno Zvaigzdes. Sakalai lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with 11 games lost. Juventus will play against bottom-ranked Naglis Palangos (#12) in Palanga in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Sakalai will play at home against LSU-Baltai in Kaunas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Angers BC adds Uzas to their roster - 1 month ago

Angers BC 49 (NM1) added to their roster 28-year old Lithuanian forward Rokas Uzas (203-88). Uzas managed to play in three leagues in two countries last year. He played last season at Bashkimi in Kosovan SuperLeague. In 11 games he recorded very impressive stats: 16.9ppg, 7.4rpg, 3.7apg and 1.1spg. Uzas helped them to make it to the semifinals.
