The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with defeat of the leader and games ending by tiny margin.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Rudupis (12-2) in Klaipeda on Thursday night. Visitors were defeated by second ranked Neptunas (11-3) 85-81. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. The hosts trailed by 5 points after three quarters before their 27-18 charge, which allowed them to win the game. The former international forward Valdas Vasylius (203-83, college: ODU) orchestrated the victory by scoring 14 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. The former international forward Deividas Gailius (200-88) contributed with 15 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Estonian Siim-Sander Vene (203-90, agency: Alti Sport) replied with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for Rudupis. Juventus' coach Rytis Vaisvila used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Juventus have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Pieno Zvaigzdes. Naglis Palangos at the other side still closes the standings with 15 games lost. Juventus' next round opponent will be Lietuvos rytas (#8) in Vilnius where they are favorite.

Aivaras Kiausas orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 15 rebounds. Sakalai maintains eleventh position with 4-11 record. Loser LSU-Baltai keeps the tenth place with ten games lost. Sakalai's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Vilnius .

In the last two games of round 20 Nevezis beat Lietkabelis on the road 72-67. LSU-Baltai destroyed Lietkabelis on its own court 90-64.


Pieno Zvaigzdes - Siauliai 78-76

A very close game took place in Pasvalys between Pieno Zvaigzdes and Siauliai. Sixth ranked Pieno Zvaigzdes (8-6) got a very close home victory over 5th ranked Siauliai (7-6). Pieno Zvaigzdes managed to escape with a 2-point win 78-76 on Saturday evening. Siauliai trailed by 12 points after 3 quarters before a 20-10 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 76-78 at the end of the game. It was a great shooting night for Pieno Zvaigzdes especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 53.3 percentage. The winners were led by American-Puerto Rican point guard TreVon Hughes (183-87, college: Wisconsin, agency: Edge Sports) who scored that evening 20 points and 6 rebounds and the former international point guard Gediminas Maceina (188-84) supported him with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Pieno Zvaigzdes players scored in double figures. Even 24 points by American guard Chase Simon (198-89, college: Detroit Mercy) did not help to save the game for Siauliai. We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 9th ranked Lietkabelis (5-10) was smashed by tenth ranked LSU-Baltai (4-10) in Kaunas 90-64 on Wednesday. The game without a history. LSU-Baltai led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Lietkabelis' players. Guard Sarunas Vingelis (191-89) orchestrated the victory by scoring 21 points and 4 assists. Forward Vidmantas Sragauskis (200-86) contributed with 18 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Center Mindaugas Kupsas (215-91) replied with 15 points and 5 rebounds and forward Tauras Jogela (203-93) added 12 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Lietkabelis. LSU-Baltai maintains tenth position with 4-10 record. Lietkabelis lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with ten games lost. LSU-Baltai will face league's second-placed Neptunas in Klaipeda in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.

Siauliai - Neptunas 81-82

Important game to mention about took place in Siauliai. Second ranked Neptunas (11-3) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging 5th ranked Siauliai (7-6) 82-81 on Wednesday evening. It looked good early as Siauliai took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Neptunas had a 22-20 second period charge getting the lead and Siauliai was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 81-82. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Valdas Vasylius (203-83, college: ODU) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 5 rebounds and center Vytautas Sarakauskas (204-82) who added 9 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Neptunas' coach Kazys Maksvytis allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. The former international Aurimas Kieza (202-82, college: Hofstra) responded with 22 points and 9 rebounds and American point guard Lewis Jackson (178-89, college: Purdue) scored 12 points and 4 steals. Neptunas have an impressive ten-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 11-3 record behind leader Rudupis. Siauliai at the other side dropped to the sixth place with six games lost. Neptunas will play against LSU-Baltai (#10) in Kaunas in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Siauliai will play at home against Zalgiris (#5) in Kaunas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
