What a coincidence that all visitors won their games.

The most shocking disappointment of round 21 was a home defeat of 5th ranked Juventus (8-7) by eighth ranked Lietuvos rytas (6-2) who outscored them by 34 points 102-68. It ended the three-game winning streak of Juventus. The game was mostly controlled by Lietuvos rytas. Juventus managed to win third quarter 24-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Lietuvos rytas shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 57.1 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Lietuvos rytas made 7 blocks. Guard Dovydas Redikas (195-92) stepped up and scored 8 points and 9 assists for the winners and Latvian Janis Blums (191-82) chipped in 16 points. The best for the losing side was point guard Darius Gvezdauskas (191-88) with 18 points and 5 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Lietuvos rytas maintains eighth place with 6-2 record. Juventus at the other side keeps the fifth position with seven games lost. Lietuvos rytas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Juventus will play at home against Pieno Zvaigzdes (#4) in Pasvalys and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in Siauliai was also worth to mention about. Leader Zalgiris (8-0) played at the court of 6th ranked Siauliai (7-7). Zalgiris defeated Siauliai 78-68. American center Jeff Foote (212-88, college: Cornell) nailed 13 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and Mindaugas Kuzminskas accounted for 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Zalgiris' coach Joan Plaza used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Chase Simon (198-89, college: Detroit Mercy) came up with 19 points and 5 rebounds for Siauliai in the defeat. Undefeated Zalgiris have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. Defending champion moved-up to third place. Siauliai lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with seven games lost. They share it with Nevezis. Zalgiris will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Siauliai will play at home against Sakalai (#11) in Vilnius and hopes to get back on the winning track.

In the last game of round 21 Neptunas destroyed LSU-Baltai on the opponent's court 102-80.

LSU-Baltai - Neptunas 80-102

Very expected game in Kaunas where 10th ranked LSU-Baltai (4-11) was crushed by second ranked Neptunas (12-3) 102-80. Neptunas dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to LSU-Baltai's 28. Neptunas forced 28 LSU-Baltai turnovers and outrebounded them 33-21 including 24 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. The former international point guard Evaldas Dainys (180-82, college: Cent.Florida CC) nailed 16 points and 6 assists (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) for the winning side and center Vytautas Sarakauskas (204-82) accounted for 15 points. Four Neptunas players scored in double figures. Zygimantas Skucas (200-92) came up with 19 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Mindaugas Stasys (180-86) added 12 points, 8 assists and 4 steals respectively for LSU-Baltai in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Neptunas have an impressive series of eleven victories in a row. They maintain second place with 12-3 record having just -1 point less than leader Rudupis. LSU-Baltai at the other side keeps the tenth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Sakalai. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
