Perlas-MRU (19-15) outlasted Rasai (20-13) in overtime by seven points 103-96 on Friday night. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Rasai. Arnas Berucka stepped up and scored 28 points for the winners. Perlas-MRU's coach Arvydas Gronskis used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Perlas-MRU maintains fifth place with 19-15 record. Rasai at the other side keeps the fourth position with 13 games lost. Perlas-MRU will have a break next round. Rasai will play at home against Vytis (#7) and hope to win that game.

In the last game of round 9 Palanga lost to Ezerunas-Karys on the opponent's court 65-82. Mazeikiai managed to outperform KTU in a home game 79-64. Nafta-Uni. managed to beat Silute on the road 86-79. Bottom-ranked Petrochema was defeated by Delikatesas on its own court 65-81. Telsiai smashed Vytis in Telsiu 87-58.

Ezerunas-Karys - Palanga 82-65

There was an upset in Moletai where higher ranked Palanga (16-18) was defeated by thirteenth ranked Ezerunas-Karys (9-25) 82-65 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Ezerunas-Karys. Palanga was better in fourth quarter 13-8. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Ezerunas-Karys looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Guard Dovydas Giedraitis (190-0) stepped up and scored 11 points and 8 assists for the winners and Laurynas Kirlys (191-93) chipped in 17 points and 4 assists. Five Ezerunas-Karys players scored in double figures. Ezerunas-Karys' coach Paulius Barkus used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was American guard Raijon Kelly (190-93, college: Angelo St.) with 18 points and 9 assists and center Antanas Bertasius (205-94) scored 20 points. Ezerunas-Karys maintains thirteenth place with 9-25 record. Palanga at the other side dropped to the seventh position with 18 games lost. Ezerunas-Karys will face higher ranked Delikatesas (#10) in Joniskis in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.

Mazeikiai - KTU 79-64

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when twelfth ranked Mazeikiai (13-21) defeated at home 11th ranked KTU (12-21) 79-64 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Mazeikiai. KTU was better in second period 28-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Forward Rytis Biliartas (200-91) stepped up and scored 19 points and 8 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!) for the winners and point guard Ernestas Bruzas (183-96) chipped in 13 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Four Mazeikiai players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Jaunius Davniukas (197-95) with 14 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Matas Sapiega (178-90) scored 9 points and 7 assists. KTU's coach Vytautas Pliauga rotated twelve players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Mazeikiai moved-up to eleventh place. Newly promoted KTU dropped to the twelfth position with 21 games lost. Mazeikiai will have a break next round. KTU will play at home against Petrochema (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Not a big story in a game when 6th ranked Silute (17-17) was defeated at home by second ranked Nafta-Uni. (25-9) 86-79 on Friday. Silute trailed by 13 points after 3 quarters before a 25-12 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 79-86 at the end of the game. Silute was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Forward Viktoras Chodosovskis (200-89) stepped up and scored 16 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and point guard Benas Bagdonavicius (198-99) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American guard Brian Wanamaker (185-89, college: Texas Wesleyan) with 15 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and center Aurelijus Pukelis (205-94) scored 15 points and 5 rebounds. Four Nafta-Uni. and five Silute players scored in double figures. Silute's coach Robertas Kuncaitis rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Nafta-Uni. maintains second place with 25-9 record having just eight point less than leader Suduva-Mantinga. Silute lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with 17 games lost. Nafta-Uni. will face league's leader Suduva-Mantinga in Marijampole in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Silute will play on the road against Telsiai (#3) in Telsiu and hope to win that game.

There was no surprise in Sakiai where 7th ranked Vytis (16-18) was outplayed by third ranked Telsiai (22-12) 87-58 on Friday. The game without a history. Telsiai led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 61.9 percentage. Telsiai looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Point guard Ignas Razutis (185-87) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 assists for the winners and Gintautas Kybartas (201-94) chipped in 18 points and 6 rebounds. Four Telsiai players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was forward Augustinas Jankaitis (205-94) with 16 points and 9 rebounds and Gytis Radzevicius (195-95) scored 6 points and 5 assists. Vytis' coach Virginijus Sirvydis gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Telsiai maintains third place with 22-12 record having just five point less than leader Suduva-Mantinga. Vytis at the other side keeps the seventh position with 18 games lost. Telsiai will face Silute (#6) at home in the next round. Vytis will play against Rasai in Raseiniai and hope to win that game.

Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Perlas-MRU made 7 blocks.
