Silute - Mazeikiai 97-69

Silute cruised past Mazeikiai in the eighth-finals opener. The game was mostly controlled by Silute. Mazeikiai managed to win fourth quarter 22-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 20-of-23 free shots (87.0 percent) during the game. Silute forced 25 Mazeikiai turnovers and outrebounded them 33-22 including 20 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Center Aurelijus Pukelis (205-94) stepped up and scored 10 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and American guard Brian Wanamaker (185-89, college: Texas Wesleyan) chipped in 13 points and 4 steals. Wanamaker is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Silute players scored in double figures. At the losing side Mantas Serksnas (200-96) responded with 15 points and Aidas Einikis (195-96) scored 13 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.

Perlas-MRU topped KTU to surge ahead in the series. The game without a history. Perlas-MRU led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Perlas-MRU forced 20 KTU turnovers and outrebounded them 34-21 including 22 on the defensive glass. Forward Arnas Berucka (195-97) stepped up and scored 28 points for the winners and forward Deividas Sirvydis (200-0) chipped in 13 points and 6 rebounds. At the losing side point guard Matas Sapiega (178-90) responded with 9 points and 9 assists and Deividas Poguzinskas (203-95, college: High School) scored 12 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.

Vytis held off Delikatesas to gain the lead in the series. The game was mostly controlled by Vytis. Delikatesas managed to win second period 21-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Vytis had a 28-17 advantage in offensive rebounds. Guard Paulius Beliavicius (194-88) stepped up and scored 19 points for the winners and forward Augustinas Jankaitis (205-94) chipped in 12 points and 9 rebounds. At the losing side center Nerijus Barauskas (207-92) responded with 16 points and 9 rebounds and swingman Zilvinas Petraitis (194-88) scored 15 points and 6 rebounds. Zalgiris II stepped closer to the quarterfinal stage as they toppled Palanga in the opener. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Palanga won third quarter 19-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Zalgiris II won last quarter 18-14. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 54.2 percentage. Zalgiris II looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Power forward Gytis Masiulis (206-98) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and guard Kristupas Zemaitis (192-96) chipped in 20 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. Four Zalgiris II players scored in double figures. At the losing side center Antanas Bertasius (205-94) responded with 18 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Zygimantas Simonis (192-95) scored 19 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists.

He started the season at Trikalla in Greek A1 league. In 21 games he recorded 11.0ppg, 7.0rpg and 1.5apg this season. Biruta ended the last season at GS Lavrio (also in A1) where in 5 games he averaged 3.4ppg and 2.2rpg. But the most of that year he spent at Neptunas in Lithuanian LKL. Silute - Nafta-Uni. 75-83 Nafta-Uni upset Silute on the road to seal their semifinal appearance. The guests were already 16 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 26-18 Silute's run in the last quarter cut the lead to 83-75 at the end of the game. Nafta-Uni. made 19-of-22 charity shots (86.4 percent) during the game.
