We bring you last week's top performances from Lithuanians who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

   #1. This week's number one is former international swingman Gediminas Orelik (199-90, currently plays in Turkey). He could not help Banvit (15-6) in their last game. Despite Orelik's very good performance Banvit lost 83-88 on the road to the lower-ranked (#9) Tofas. He was the top scorer with 23 points. Orelik also added 6 rebounds in 37 minutes on the court. It was Banvit's first loss after four consecutive victories. Orelik has relatively good stats this year: 14.5ppg, 5.5rpg, 1.5apg, 2FGP: 58.7%(37-63), 3FGP: 43.1% in 21 games he played so far. He played for the Lithuanian senior national team two years ago.

   #2. Second place goes to an international swingman Jonas Maciulis (198-85, currently plays in Euroleague). Maciulis led his Spanish team Real Madrid to a victory over the sixth-ranked Crvena Zvezda (15-11) crushing them 98-68 in the Euroleague last Friday. He was MVP of the game. Maciulis recorded 12 points. Real Madrid (19-7) is placed second in the Euroleague. There are only four games left until the end of the Euroleague Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. This season Maciulis averages: 6.5ppg, 2.2rpg, 3FGP: 54.5%(30-55) and FT: 68.8%. Ex-KK Baltai Kaunas player is in the roster of the Lithuanian senior national team.

   #3. The Lithuanian player who performed third best last week abroad was former U20 international forward Edgaras Zelionis (207-89, currently plays in Latvia). He was the major contributor in Ventspils' victory against the sixth-ranked Barons Riga (11-11) 100-91 in the Latvian LBL on Saturday night. Zelionis recorded 16 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists (made all of his five free throws) in 23 minutes. BK Ventspils (22-2) is placed first in the LBL. It was his team's seventh consecutive victory in a row. This year Zelionis has relatively solid stats: 11.6ppg, 5.4rpg, 1.7apg, 2FGP: 60.2%(59-98), 3FGP: 32.3% and FT: 83.3% in 18 games. He played for the Lithuanian U20 national team eight years ago.

   #4. Point guard Sarunas Vasiliauskas (188-89, agency: Players Group, currently plays in Turkey) was not able to help Usak Sportlif (6-15) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Vasiliauskas' very good performance Usak Sportlif was defeated 109-100 in Giresun by the higher-ranked Yesilgiresun Bld (#10). He was the top scorer with 24 points. Vasiliauskas also added 4 assists. Vasiliauskas has reliable stats this season: 13.2ppg, 2.2rpg and 4.3apg. He used to play for the Lithuanian national team back in 2014.

Former University international center Adomas Drungilas (203-90, currently plays in Hungary) was the main contributor in a ZTE KK's victory against the league outsider MAFC (3-20) 86-80 in the Hungarian A Division last Thursday. Drungilas was the best player in that game. He had a double-double by scoring 23 points and getting 12 rebounds. Drungilas also added 3 assists and 3 steals in 27 minutes. Zalakeramia-ZTE KK (14-9) is placed sixth in the A Division. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. Drungilas' stats this year are: 14.6ppg, 7.5rpg and 1.3apg in 22 games. He used to play for the Lithuanian university national team four years ago.

   #6. Center Jonas Valanciunas (213-92, currently plays in NBA) contributed to an easy victory against the Dallas Mavericks (29-38) crushing them 100-78 in the NBA on Monday night. Valanciunas recorded a double-double by scoring 14 points and getting 12 rebounds. The Toronto Raptors have 39-28 record this season. It's Valanciunas' fifth year with the team. He has individually a very good year with high stats. Valanciunas averages: 12.1ppg and 9.6rpg. He is an international player who is currently on the senior Lithuanian National Team roster.

U20 international center Martynas Sajus (208-96, currently plays in Poland) contributed to a 3-point Polpharma's victory against the closely-ranked Trefl (12-11) 88-85 in the Polish PLK last Saturday. Sajus recorded a double-double by scoring 11 points and getting 12 rebounds. He also added 2 blocks. Polpharma Starogard Gdanski (13-12) is placed tenth in the PLK. It's Sajus' first season with the team. Sajus averaged so far 10.7ppg and 6.7rpg. He is also Lithuanian U20 national team player.

Forward Denis Krestinin (202-94, agency: BeoBasket, currently plays in Baltic League) contributed to a Barons Riga's victory against the closely-ranked Kalev/Cramo 77-66 in the Baltic League on Thursday night. Krestinin had a double-double by scoring 14 points and getting 10 rebounds. He also added and 3 steals in 30 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 2 ranked teams in group A. BK Barons Kvartals Riga (10-2) is placed first. It was his team's seventh consecutive victory in a row. Krestinin averaged so far 12.9ppg, 10.0rpg, 1.5apg and 1.5spg in 15 games. He used to play for the Lithuanian U20 national team back in 2014.

International forward Marius Grigonis (198-94, currently plays in Spain) managed to help Iberostar Tenerife CB Canarias to win against the closely-ranked Movil Estudiantes (17-5) 82-63 in the Spanish Liga Endesa in Sunday night's game. Grigonis scored 5 points. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Iberostar Tenerife CB Canarias (18-5) is placed first in the Liga Endesa. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. Grigonis' overall stats this season are: 7.8ppg, 1.4rpg and 2.4apg. He is also in the roster of the Lithuanian national team.

   #10. Guard Modestas Kumpys (194-91, also represented by Players Group, currently plays in Latvia) was not able to secure a victory for Jekabpils (13-12) in their last game. Despite Kumpys' good performance Jekabpils lost 84-94 in Ogre to the lower-ranked (#7) BK Ogre. He was the second best scorer with 14 points. Kumpys also added 5 rebounds and 4 assists in 29 minutes. Kumpys averaged so far 12.5ppg, 5.0rpg and 2.5apg in two games. He is a former U20 international player as six years ago he still played for the Lithuanian national team.

   #11. An experienced former international center Tautvydas Lydeka (208-83, currently plays in Italy) couldn't help Banco di Srd in their game against Armani Milano in the Italian Serie A. Lydeka recorded 8 points. His team was defeated 82-75. Lydeka's overall stats this season are: 6.4ppg, 4.6rpg and 1.1apg. He used to play for the Lithuanian national team eleven years ago.

   #12. Former U22 international power forward Tauras Jogela (202-93, another player represented by Players Group, currently plays in Latvia) is a teammate of previously mentioned Denis Krestinin. He played also in the last Latvian LBL game facing Edgaras Zelionis (above) in the other team. Jogela couldn't help Barons Riga (11-11) in their last game. Despite his good performance Barons Riga lost 91-100 at home to the lower-ranked (#6) Ventspils. Jogela recorded 13 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 23 minutes. Jogela has very impressive stats this year: 15.2ppg, 5.2rpg, 1.9apg and 1.4spg in 19 games. He used to play for the Lithuanian U22 national team back in 2015.

   #13. International power forward Domantas Sabonis (209-96, college: Gonzaga, currently plays in NBA) helped Oklahoma City Thunder win their game against the Toronto Raptors crushing them 123-102 in the NBA on Thursday night. Sabonis scored 8 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 19 minutes. This year Sabonis' overall stats are: 6.0ppg and 3.6rpg in 68 games. He is a naturalized American. Sabonis is also Lithuanian national team player. Strangely he has never played in Lithuania.

   #14. Former international swingman Deividas Dulkys (195-88, college: Florida St., currently plays in Spain) couldn't help Blusens Monbus in their game against Zaragoza in the Spanish Liga Endesa. Despite his good performance in Saturday night's game Dulkys was the second best scorer with 12 points. He also added 3 passes. Dulkys averaged so far 10.5ppg, 2.6rpg and 2.7apg. He used to play for the Lithuanian national team back in 2012.

   #15. Former U20 international power forward Gilvydas Biruta (203-91, college: Rhode Island, currently plays in Greece) couldn't help Aiolos Trikallon in their game against Promitheas in the Greek A1, despite his good performance last Saturday. Biruta was the top scorer with 11 points. He also added 5 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 25 minutes. But his team lost 62-67. Biruta averaged so far 11.0ppg, 7.0rpg and 1.5apg in 21 games. He used to play for the Lithuanian U20 national team six years ago.


The list of other players, who all have Lithuanian passport but never been selected to any of Lithuanian national teams:

   #1. John Shurna (204-F-90, college: Northwestern, currently plays in ABA League) contributed to Cedevita's victory against the ninth-ranked FMP (10-16) 104-92 in the ABA League in Saturday night's game. Shurna scored 8 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 24 minutes. KK Cedevita Zagreb (20-6) is placed second in the ABA League. It was his team's seventh consecutive victory in a row. There are only two games left until the end of the ABA League Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. It's Shurna's first season with the team. This year his overall stats are: 8.1ppg and 2.5rpg in 17 games he played so far. Shurna is a naturalized American. Despite his Lithuanian passport, Shurna previously played for the USA U19 national team and is probably not eligible to play for the Lithuanian team. Strangely he has never played in Lithuania.

   #2. Nik Stauskas (198-SG-93, college: Michigan, currently plays in NBA). Stauskas could not help the Philadelphia 76ers (23-44) to beat the Los Angeles Clippers (40-28). He recorded 9 points and added 3 passes. But the Philadelphia 76ers (23-44) were defeated 112-100 on the road by the Clippers. Stauskas averaged so far 9.1ppg, 2.7rpg and 2.1apg. He has a dual citizenship: Canadian and Lithuanian.

   #3. Andrius Mikutis (194-G/F-88, college: John Brown, currently plays in Germany) led SG Schwelmer Baskets to a victory over the 11th-ranked Hertener Loewen (10-13) crushing them 95-70 in the German Regionalliga (fourth division) on Saturday night. Mikutis was the top player that evening. He scored 26 points (!!!) and grabbed 6 rebounds. EN Baskets Schwelm (19-4) is placed first in West group. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. Mikutis has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 18.4ppg, 8.3rpg and 1.9apg.

   #4. Povilas Gaidys (208-C-91, agency: SPORTlab Agency, college: Southeastern, currently plays in Austria) contributed to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Raiffeisen Wels (13-12) 84-66 in the Austrian A Bundesliga in Monday night's game. Gaidys recorded 16 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 21 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Basket Swans Gmunden (19-7) is placed second in the A Bundesliga. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. This year Gaidys' total stats are: 8.8ppg, 6.5rpg and 1.2apg in 18 games.

   #5. Raimundas Danys (198-F-85, agency: Octagon Europe, currently plays in Switzerland) contributed to an easy victory against the league outsider Winterthur (2-17) 75-59 in the Swiss LNA last Saturday. He had a double-double by scoring 12 points and getting 13 rebounds in 34 minutes. Union Neuchatel Basket (12-7) is placed fifth in the LNA. Danys' team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. Danys averaged so far 10.5ppg, 4.0rpg and 1.1apg in 14 games.

   #6. Marius Runkauskas (189-G-86, also represented by Octagon Europe, currently plays in Romania) was the major contributor in a Steaua CSM's victory against the fifth-ranked BC Timisoara crushing them 95-67 in the Romanian Liga Nationala last Wednesday. He recorded 17 points and added 8 passes in 29 minutes. Runkauskas averaged so far 15.0ppg, 2.5rpg and 3.3apg in 22 games.

   #7. Mantas Griskenas (200-F-85, agency: Dynamics Global Management, college: Wichita St., currently plays in Sweden) was not able to help Nassjo (13-17) in their last game on Friday. Despite his good performance Nassjo was crushed 82-60 in Lulea by the leading BC Lulea. Griskenas scored 10 points, had 8 rebounds and dished 3 assists. Griskenas' total stats this season are: 9.4ppg, 3.5rpg and 1.1apg.

   #8. Justas Furmanavicius (198-F-94, currently plays college basketball in the States) contributed to Mississippi's victory against the Monmouth University 91-83 in the NCAA National Tournament Round 1 last Tuesday. He recorded 9 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists in 28 minutes. This year Furmanavicius' total stats are: 6.4ppg, 5.1rpg, 1.1apg and 1.1bpg in 34 games.

   #9. Dominykas Milka (203-C-92, college: St.Rose, NY, currently plays in Baltic League) was not able to secure a victory for Tartu Ulikool in their game against P.Zvaigzdes in the Baltic League.
