Eurobasket.com Luxemburg had the chance to speak with rookie US Forward/Center Brett Spiker (201-F-86, agency: Scorers 1st Sportmanagement, college: Wayne St., NE) from National 2 club Racing Luxemburg about the upcoming 2010/11 season.
1. How does it feel to be on the court now as a professional and not as a college player anymore? I feel honored and blessed to still be on the court. It's a testament to how all the hard work over the years can pay off and make your dreams come true. There is no better feeling than to be able to play the game you love as a job day in and day out.
2. Tell us about your current team and how the pre-season went so far. Pre-season has went really well. I have adapted to my new surroundings and also to my team and their different styles of play. We have a fairly young team this season that has built up some good team chemistry and have worked hard these last two months to make us an all around solid team where everyone trusts everyone else on the court. I couldn't be happier with the progression and growth we have shown as a team thus far.
3. What can we expect from your team this season? Can you compete for the title? Everyone on our team this year has the same clear expectation. We want to see our name atop the N2 standings when the season ends. We have the kind of players that will take it personal if that were not to be the case and therefore every player is going to hold each and every one of their teammates responsible this season to ensure that the expectation becomes reality.
4. What are your personal goals for this year? My personal goal this season is to be a leader on the court and simply do whatever my team needs me to do throughout the game to get the W night after night.
