The most crucial game of the last round was another loss of top-ranked T71 (13-3) in Bertrange on Saturday night. Visitors were rolled over by second ranked Sparta (12-4) 92-66. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Sparta. T71 managed to win third quarter 24-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Larrie Smith (198-75, college: Tenn Tech) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds. American point guard Kasey Ulin (184-82, college: Dickinson St.) contributed with 17 points and 9 assists for the winners. International guard Tom Schumacher (190-87, college: Cal.Baptist) replied with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists for T71. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Sparta maintains second position with 12-4 record behind leader T71. Defending champion T71 still keeps top place with three games lost. Sparta are looking forward to face Basket Esch (#7) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. T71 will play against Heffingen (#10) and is hoping to win this game.
The game in Belvaux was also worth to mention about. Fourth ranked Musel Pikes (9-7) played at the court of 8th ranked Soleuvre (7-9). Musel Pikes managed to secure a 8-point victory 86-78. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Brandon Gary (202-83, college: Hutchinson CC) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and 6 rebounds and Laurent Schwartz who added 22 points during the contest. At the losing side American Lamonte Ulmer (198-86, college: Rhode Island) responded with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 14 rebounds. Musel Pikes have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 9-7 record, which they share with Etzella. Soleuvre at the other side keeps the eighth place with nine games lost. Musel Pikes will play against Etzella (#4) in Ettelbruck in the next round. Soleuvre will play on the road against BBC Nitia (#9) in Bettembourg and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in Ettelbruck was also quite interesting. 5th ranked Basket Esch (8-8) played at the court of sixth ranked Etzella (9-7). Etzella managed to secure a 5-point victory 80-75 on Sunday. The winners were led by Daniel Horace who had that evening a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds. Even a double-double of 21 points and 17 rebounds by Stefan Svitek did not help to save the game for Basket Esch. Etzella moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Musel Pikes. Loser Basket Esch dropped to the sixth position with eight games lost. They share it with Residence. Etzella will meet Musel Pikes (#5) in the next round. Basket Esch will play against the league's second-placed Sparta in Bertrange and hope to secure a win.

In the last two games of round 16 BBC Nitia was beaten by Residence on the road 84-69. Heffingen lost to Amicale on its own court 56-65.



Soleuvre - Musel Pikes 78-86

The game in Belvaux was also worth to mention about. Fourth ranked Musel Pikes (9-7) played at the court of 8th ranked Soleuvre (7-9). Musel Pikes managed to secure a 8-point victory 86-78. The game without a history. Musel Pikes led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 20-of-26 charity shots (76.9 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Brandon Gary (202-83, college: Hutchinson CC) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and 6 rebounds and international guard Laurent Schwartz (180-89) who added 22 points during the contest. At the losing side American Lamonte Ulmer (198-86, college: Rhode Island) responded with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 14 rebounds and guard Michel Weyland (180-81) scored 11 points. Five Soleuvre players scored in double figures. Musel Pikes have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 9-7 record, which they share with Etzella. Soleuvre at the other side keeps the eighth place with nine games lost. Musel Pikes will play against Etzella (#4) in Ettelbruck in the next round. Soleuvre will play on the road against BBC Nitia (#9) in Bettembourg and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Residence - BBC Nitia 84-69

No shocking result in a game when seventh ranked Residence (8-8) beat 9th ranked BBC Nitia (2-14) in Bereldange 84-69 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Residence. BBC Nitia managed to win fourth quarter 24-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 17-of-19 free shots (89.5 percent) during the game. The winners were led by American forward Marcus Kennedy (193-84, college: Montevallo, agency: Interperformances) who scored that evening 25 points and 9 rebounds and international swingman Pitt Koster (178-89) supported him with 17 points and 6 rebounds. Four Residence players scored in double figures. Even 33 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds by American power forward William Arre (199-86, college: Lock Haven, agency: Scorers 1st Sportmanagement) did not help to save the game for BBC Nitia. Latvian power forward Janis Poznaks (202-83) added 12 points and 12 rebounds for lost side. Residence have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Basket Esch. Newly promoted BBC Nitia keeps the ninth position with 14 games lost. They share it with Heffingen. Residence will meet higher ranked Amicale (#3) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. BBC Nitia will play against Soleuvre (#8) in Belvaux and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Very expected game when 9th ranked Heffingen (2-14) lost at home to third ranked Amicale (10-6) 65-56 on Saturday. Amicale maintains third position with 10-6 record having just three points less than leader T71. Heffingen lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the bottom place with 14 games lost. They share the position with BBC Nitia. Amicale will meet at home Residence (#6) in the next round. Heffingen will play against the league's leader T71 (#1) in Dudelange and hope to secure a win.

The hosts trailed by 11 points at the halftime before their 45-29 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Etzella outrebounded Basket Esch 38-27 including 26 on the defensive glass. The winners were led by American-Liberian forward Daniel Horace (200-83, college: Miami, OH, agency: KMG Sports Management) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and the former international swingman Nelson Delgado (188-80) supported him with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. The most important game in the last round took place in Esch between third ranked Contern (7-3) and fifth ranked Basket Esch (6-4) on Saturday night.
