The Second Stage in Diekirch League just ended.

Fourth-ranked Residence (13-15) made lots of trouble for first ranked T71 (24-4) in Bereldange on Saturday. The visitors from Dudelange managed to secure only three-point victory 70-67. However their fans expected easier game. Residence trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 22-14 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 67-70 at the end of the game. International guard Tom Schumacher (190-87, college: Cal.Baptist) fired 22 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. The former international power forward Frank Muller (194-88, college: Cuesta JC) chipped in 16 points and 10 rebounds. American forward Marcus Kennedy (193-84, college: Montevallo, agency: Interperformances) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 16 rebounds for lost side. T71 have an impressive six-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 24-4 record. Residence at the other side keeps the fourth place with 15 games lost. They share the position with Amicale.
The game in Steinsel was also worth to mention about. Third ranked Musel Pikes (15-13) played at the court of 5th ranked Amicale (13-15). Musel Pikes managed to secure a 5-point victory 73-68. Musel Pikes maintains third position with 15-13 record having nine points less than leader Basket Esch. Amicale at the other side dropped to the fourth place with 15 games lost. They share the position with Residence.
The game with biggest result difference took place in Bertrange. Local Sparta (22-6) outscored 6th ranked Etzella (12-16) 97-72 on Saturday night. Xavier Engel scored 30 points, 6 assists and 4 steals to lead the charge for the winners. At the losing side Tim Giver responded with 25 points. Etzella's coach Gilles Becker gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Sparta maintains second position with 22-6 record having just two points less than leader Basket Esch. Loser Etzella keeps the sixth place with 16 games lost.

Sparta - Etzella 97-72

The game with biggest result difference took place in Bertrange. Local Sparta (22-6) outscored 6th ranked Etzella (12-16) 97-72 on Saturday night. The game without a history. Sparta led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. Sparta forced 19 Etzella turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Etzella's players. Guard Xavier Engel (185-88) scored 30 points, 6 assists and 4 steals to lead the charge for the winners and American point guard Kasey Ulin (184-82, college: Dickinson St.) chipped in 24 points and 6 assists during the contest. Four Sparta players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Tim Giver (183-80) responded with 25 points and the former international swingman Nelson Delgado (188-80) scored 15 points. 33-year old power forward Mike Jones (203-F/C-83) put on an amazing game in the last round for second-ranked Heffingen and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 7 (Second Stage). N2 is at the halfway of the Second Stage and there are still another 5 rounds left. Grengewald managed to get the fourth consecutive victory on Saturday night. This time they outleveled tenth-ranked Preizerdaul 88-66. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 22-point difference suggests that Grengewald is in a good shape to leave the bottom place.
