The most exciting game of round 4 in the Diekirch League took place in Dudelange. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 5th ranked T71 (2-2) to top-ranked Sparta (4-0) 82-79 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of T71. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. 24 personal fouls committed by T71 helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Kasey Ulin (181-PG-82, college: Dickinson St.) who helped to win the game recording 27 points and 7 rebounds and the former international forward Larrie Smith (198-75, college: Tenn Tech) who added 19 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side international point guard Tom Schumacher (190-87, college: Cal.Baptist) responded with 22 points and 4 assists. Sparta have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Etzella. T71 at the other side dropped to the fourth place with two games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Sparta is looking forward to face Soleuvre (#6) in Belvaux in the next round where they are favorite. T71 will play at home against Amicale in Steinsel and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game between Top Four teams took place in Contern. 4th ranked host Contern (2-2) was smashed by top-ranked Etzella (4-0) 87-67. The winners were led by American power forward Anthony Simpson (203-87, college: Kent St.) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds and Nelson Delgado supported him with 27 points (made all of his seven free throws). Even 28 points and 7 rebounds by American forward Elton Frazier (196-88, college: Canisius) did not help to save the game for Contern. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Etzella have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 4-0 record, which they share with Sparta. Newly promoted Contern keeps the fourth place with two games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Etzella will play against Basket Esch (#9) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Contern will play against Musel Pikes (#5) in Stadrbredimus and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Bottom-ranked Black Star (0-4) is still winless. This time they lost on the road their fourth consecutive match to sixth ranked Musel Pikes (2-2) 85-68 on Sunday evening. Brandon Gary fired 24 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Billy McDaniel produced a double-double by scoring 28 points, 14 rebounds and 5 blocks for lost side. Musel Pikes moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Black Star still closes the standings with four games lost. They share the position with Basket Esch. Musel Pikes will meet at home Contern (#4) in the next round. Black Star will play against Residence (#8) in Bereldange and hopes to get finally their first victory.

It was a very good performance for Mychal Green who helped to win the game recording 29 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Soleuvre's coach James Marsh used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Soleuvre moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Basket Esch at the other side still closes the standings with four games lost. Soleuvre's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Sparta in Bertrange and it may be the game of the week. Basket Esch will play on the road against the league's leader Etzella (#1) in Ettelbruck and looks forward to get finally their first victory.

In the last game of round 4 Residence lost to Amicale on the opponent's court 88-96.

Musel Pikes - Black Star 85-68

Bottom-ranked Black Star (0-4) is still winless. This time they lost on the road their fourth consecutive match to sixth ranked Musel Pikes (2-2) 85-68 on Sunday evening. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 12-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 85-68. Musel Pikes shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 54.2 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Black Star's players. American power forward Brandon Gary (202-83, college: Hutchinson CC) fired 24 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. International point guard Laurent Schwartz (180-89) chipped in 18 points and 6 assists. American power forward Billy McDaniel (201-84, college: Ark.-Monticello) produced a double-double by scoring 28 points, 14 rebounds and 5 blocks and his fellow American import point guard Terry Bryant (185-85, college: SE Louisiana) added 26 points respectively for lost side. Musel Pikes moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Black Star still closes the standings with four games lost. They share the position with Basket Esch. Musel Pikes will meet at home Contern (#4) in the next round. Black Star will play against Residence (#8) in Bereldange and hopes to get finally their first victory.

Bottom-ranked Basket Esch (0-4) is still winless. This time they lost on the road their fourth consecutive match to seventh ranked Soleuvre (2-2) 81-64. The game was mostly controlled by Soleuvre. Basket Esch was better in fourth quarter 26-6. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Basket Esch to just 7 points in third quarter. It was a very good performance for American swingman Mychal Green (193-83, college: Ohio) who helped to win the game recording 29 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals (made all of his nine free throws !!!). The other American import forward Torye Pelham (198-87, college: S.Mississippi, agency: Strategic Sports) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Four Soleuvre players scored in double figures. Soleuvre's coach James Marsh used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Amicale - Residence 96-88

Very expected game in Steinsel where 8th ranked Residence (1-3) was defeated by third ranked Amicale (3-1) 96-88. The hosts were ahead by 1 point but lost the second period ending it with a 8-point deficit before their 31-15 run, which allowed them to win the game. Amicale dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Residence's 38 and made 24-of-27 charity shots (88.9 percent) during the game. Amicale players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Quite impressive performance for the former international guard Eric Jeitz (191-86) who helped to win the game recording 32 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. American forward Reggie Golson (201-81, college: SE Missouri St., agency: Court Side) contributed with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. American guard Darrion Pellum (198-87, college: Hampton) replied with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds (made all of his nine free throws !!!) and his fellow American import forward Marcus Kennedy (193-84, college: Montevallo, agency: Interperformances) added 28 points and 7 rebounds (made all of his eleven free throws !!!) in the effort for Residence. Five Amicale and four Residence players scored in double figures. Amicale maintains third position with 3-1 record behind leader Etzella. Residence lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with three games lost. Amicale's next round opponent will be T71 (#7) in Dudelange. Residence will play at home against Black Star in Mersch and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

BBC Arantia Larochette (Total League) re-signed American swingman Ladarius Tabb (196-86kg, college: Alabama A&M). He was a team leader there last season. In 18 Total League games he was the best scorer with impressive 28.2ppg and recorded 14.4rpg (leader !!!), 1.9apg and 2.6spg (in top 3). A very good season in his career as he was selected to Eurobasket.com All-Luxembourg League Honorable Mention.
