Experienced American forward Larrie Smith (198-F-75) had a very impressive game in the last round for league's second-best Sparta and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 5.
The 37-year old forward had a double-double of 20 points and thirteen rebounds, while his team beat Soleuvre (#7, 2-3) 90-81. Sparta maintains the 2nd position in Luxembourg Diekirch League. They maintain perfect record without any lost game in the league. The season is still on an early stage, but Sparta already had a very good start winning all 5 without losing a single one. In the team's last game Smith had a remarkable 75.0% from 2-point range. He has many years of experience at Sparta, through which he has constantly improved. Tennessee Tech University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Smith is in league's top in points (8th best: 21.4ppg), assists (9th best: 3.2apg) and averages solid 60.9% FGP and 43.5% from behind 3-point line.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 28-year old American power forward Billy McDaniel (201-F/C-84) of Black Star. McDaniel impressed basketball fans with 39 points and 7 rebounds. Bad luck as Black Star was edged by slightly higher-ranked Residence (#8, 2-3) 82-78. Black Star are still at the very bottom. 5 lost games are too many considering they did not win any game. McDaniel is one of the most experienced players at Black Star and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 26.6ppg (#1). He also registered 9.4 boards per game.

The third best performed player last round was American Torye Pelham (198-F-87) of Soleuvre (#7). Pelham scored 28 points and grabbed fourteen rebounds (!!!). Despite Pelham's great performance Soleuvre lost 81-90 to the league's current leader Sparta (#2, 5-0). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Soleuvre ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 3 games, recording just two victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Pelham could help Soleuvre to bring them higher in the standings. Pelham has a great season in Luxembourg. After only 5 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 8.8rpg (9th best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Anthony Simpson (203-C/F-87) of Etzella - 23 points, 14 rebounds and 2 assists
5. Kasey Ulin (181-PG-82) of Sparta - 19 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists
6. Marcus Kennedy (193-F-84) of Residence - 25 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists
7. Reggie Golson (201-F-81) of Amicale - 22 points and 12 rebounds
8. Stefan Svitek (203-F/C-77) of Basket Esch - 17 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists
9. Darrion Pellum (198-G-87) of Residence - 28 points and 4 rebounds
10. Mychal Green (193-G/F-83) of Soleuvre - 22 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
