American power forward Billy McDaniel (201-F/C-84) put on an amazing game in the last round for Black Star, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 7. The 28-year old player had a double-double of 30 points and 17 rebounds, while his team beat Contern (#5, 3-4) 77-69. Black Star maintains the 10th position in Luxembourg Diekirch League. Too late to salvage the team, which is currently ranked at the very bottom. They already lost 6 games and recorded just one victory. McDaniel has many years of experience at Black Star, through which he has constantly improved. Former Arkansas-Monticello star has very solid stats this year. McDaniel is league's best scorer averaging so far 30.1ppg. McDaniel is in league's top in rebounds (2nd best: 11.9rpg) and averages impressive 1.7bpg,2.1spg,52.8% FGP and 54.2% from behind 3-point line.
The second best player in last round's games was 29-year old American Mychal Green (193-G/F-83) of Soleuvre. Green had a very good evening with a double-double of 44 points and 10 rebounds. Bad luck as Soleuvre lost that game 73-107 to slightly higher-ranked T71 (#7, 3-4). This loss caused Soleuvre to drop to 8th position in the standings. 5 lost games are too many comparing to just two victories Soleuvre managed to get this year. Green is a newcomer at Soleuvre, but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 26.6ppg (#3). His other stats are also decent: 8.0rpg and 3.7apg.
Third on the list of top players last round was American forward Lawrence Wright (194-F-84) of Basket Esch (#9). Wright got into 30-points club by scoring 36 points in the last round. He went also for eleven rebounds . He was a key player of Basket Esch, leading his team to a 93-79 easy win against the higher-ranked Residence (#6, 3-4). Basket Esch can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 1-6 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for Wright he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Wright has a very solid season. In 2 games in Luxembourg he scored 25.0ppg.
Other top performing players last week: 4. Marcus Kennedy (193-F-84) of Residence - 36 points and 7 rebounds 5. Leon Powell (200-F-88) of Contern - 20 points, 16 rebounds and 3 assists 6.
