Experienced American forward Larrie Smith (198-F-75) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for league's leader Sparta and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 8.
The 37-year old forward recorded a triple-double of 27 points addeding also thirteen rebounds and ten assists, while his team crushed Black Star (#10, 1-7) with 20-point margin 104-84. It allowed Sparta to consolidate first place in the Luxembourg Diekirch League. They maintain perfect record without any lost game in the league. The season is already in a full swing and Sparta still have not lost a single game, getting all 8 victories. In the team's last game Smith had a remarkable 70.0% from 2-point range. He has many years of experience at Sparta, through which he has constantly improved. Tennessee Tech University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Smith is in league's top in points (7th best: 20.8ppg), assists (2nd best: 4.5apg) and averages solid 61.5% FGP and 40.6% from behind 3-point line.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 28-year old American power forward Billy McDaniel (201-F/C-84) of Black Star. McDaniel impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 29 points and 10 rebounds. Bad luck as Black Star lost that game 84-104 to league's leader Sparta (#1, 8-0). Black Star are still at the very bottom. 7 lost games are too many comparing to just one victory Black Star managed to get this year. McDaniel is one of the most experienced players at Black Star and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 30.0ppg (#1). He also registered 11.6 boards per game.

The third best performed player last round was American Anthony Simpson (203-C/F-87) of Etzella (#3). Simpson scored 29 points and grabbed fourteen rebounds (!!!). Despite Simpson's great performance Etzella lost 79-83 to the lower-ranked Residence (#6, 4-4). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. The last thing Etzella needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 6 victories and 2 lost games. Simpson has a great season in Luxembourg. After only 8 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 23.1ppg (5th best) and rebounds with 15.4rpg (#1 in league).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Marcus Kennedy (193-F-84) of Residence - 21 points and 19 rebounds
5. Lee Fisher (195-F-89) of Amicale - 23 points, 13 rebounds and 3 assists
6. Dean Gindt (201-PF-91) of Sparta - 29 points and 4 rebounds
7. Elton Frazier (196-F-88) of Contern - 18 points, 18 rebounds and 2 assists
8. Reggie Golson (201-F-81) of Amicale - 25 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists
9. Tom Schumacher (190-PG-87) of T71 - 26 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists
10. Julien Hublart (192-F/G-88) of Sparta - 26 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
